Chapter 571

Grace had already been a little worried in the first place. After listening to Heinz's reminder and seeing

Zachary's seriousness, she immediately became even more worried.

"Heinz, are you worried that they will come to steal Grandma's ashes?'1 Grace voiced her doubts.

She knew that Heinz might normally joke around, but it was Grandma's ashes they were talking about

and it was his first visit here in Southland. Therefore, she was sure he wouldn't joke about it.

In order to warn the others, he had said so.

Heinz instantly became very tense when he saw Grace being anxious. The next second, he entered a

state of alert and reached out to gently touch her back, saying, "Don't worry, Grace. We need to have a

good plan, just in case. That's the basics of problemsolving.''

"Grace, I will handle it." Zachary assured her, "You don't have to worry."

Despite their reassuring words, Grace was still extremely concerned.

After the meal.

Zachary and Heinz went to the living room first and did not let anyone enter. Grace and Alice took the

children with them and chatted with Nerissa.

Nerissa took them to the garden, where the children spotted butterflies and excitedly ran to catch them.

Then, Nerissa led the women to sit around the stone table in the garden. A maid brought them

Southland's signature green tea. It was fragrant and sweet, leaving behind a pleasant aftertaste.

"Grace, Alice, has your mother contacted you?" Nerissa inquired.

At the mention of her mother, Grace frowned and shook her head. She replied, "No. We haven't seen

each other ever since she left."

Her father had fallen ill because of Marry. The latter's words were still echoing in Grace's mind to this

day. At that moment, when Nerissa mentioned her mother, there were tangled emotions welling up in

her heart.

"Aunt Nerissa, my mother is a heartless person." Alice said bitterly, "She abandoned me when I was

merely a child. She was Grandma's only support yet she only cared about herself and didn't care about

Grace or Grandma. I can't understand how there can be someone heartless like her."

Nerissa nodded and responded, "There are some things that she failed to take responsibility for, but I

have met her."

"You've met her?" Alice gasped as she was very surprised to hear this. "When?"

"Two years ago in the United States." Nerissa clarified, "I went to the United States to visit Zachary and

had a meal with her."

Both Grace and Alice were very shocked. They were surprised that Nerissa was talking about their

missing mother in such a light tone.

The two of them looked at each other and were a little agitated.

Nerissa continued, "She didn't look very well. I don't know how she is now."

"Why did she go to the United States?" Grace was still stunned as she questioned, "How did you even

meet her?"

"She came to look for Philip ten years ago." Nerissa explained patiently, "At that time, she returned

without letting your grandma know."

"What?" Grace exclaimed. She was very shocked to receive this news and she couldn't bring herself to

believe it. She stared at Nerissa and pressed on, "She came to look for Uncle Philip?"

"Yes." Nerissa could understand Grace and Alice's astonishment. She smiled shallowly and asked

lightly, "Don't you think she is keeping many secrets?"

"Yes," Alice answered without hesitation while nodding her head vigorously.

Grace also nodded in response. Indeed, there were a lot of things that they were not clear about.

"In fact, I only met her a few times." Nerissa continued, "She came to Philip for money and wanted to

go abroad. Philip gave her five million dollars at that time. After that, he was dismissed from his job

position for a year because he had privately used the family fund of the Lowe family."

"She was such a mischief- maker." Alice was immediately filled with indignation and muttered, "I really

don't have a good impression of her."

Grace's heart also clenched tightly, and a suffocating feeling came over her.

It turned out that there were so many secrets. Marry's words must be true then.

"Aunt Nerissa, how could Uncle Philip lend her money?" Grace questioned, feeling puzzled.

"He reasoned that she was his sister." Nerissa sighed and said, "Philip loved her so much that he didn't

admit that the money was given to her until the very end."

"It wasn't like she lacked money, right? Why did she borrow money from Uncle Philip? What on earth

was she planning to do?" Grace's brows furrowed deeper as she spoke, "Although my dad's Sunny

Group is not the best, being with him was enough to provide for her and let her enjoy a good life."

"I suppose something went wrong between your father and her." Nerissa deduced, "It's been more than

two years since I last saw her. She wasn't doing well in the United States back then.

As for whether her life has changed, I'm not sure. After having a meal with her, we asked for her

contact information, but she didn't give it to us."

Only now did Grace realize that their mother's departure might not be as simple as it seemed.

Did their father not give her money?

Even so, her mother should have some savings for herself. Nonetheless, why did she borrow such a

large sum of money from Philip?

Just as she was deep in thought, she heard Heinz calling her, "Grace."

Grace immediately looked back and saw Heinz coming over.

She stood up and walked towards him, asking, "What's wrong?"

"Zachary and I have to head out for a while. Stay here with Alice and the children to accompany Aunt

Nerissa," Heinz informed her. "Okay?"

"You're heading out?" Grace was slightly surprised. "What for?"

"We're going to the cemetery. You don't need to go there yet. Just stay at home," Heinz said. 'TH go

and have a look. I'll give you a call when I'm done."

"Cemetery?" Grace was still dazed as she asked further, "Has Zachary told you his plan?"

"You just need to trust Zachary and me." Heinz patted her on the shoulder and promised, "I won't let

your grandma suffer."

"Okay. I trust you both," Grace uttered as she didn't doubt them. "I'm just worried. You guys should be

careful."

"Don't worry," Heinz replied. "It's still broad daylight. They wouldn't dare to make a move."

However, Heinz had predicted wrongly.

Not long after they had left, a group of people suddenly came to the garden while the butler reported

urgently.

"Madam, bad news! Someone is trying to break in!"

"Who is it?" Nerissa immediately became alert. She stood up with a look of caution, demanding,

"What's going on?"

"There are around 30 people. I guess they are Master Lowe's men and they are waiting for both Young

Master Zachary and Mr. Jones to leave. As soon as both of them left, the men showed up."

"Oh no, they must've come to steal the ashes!" Grace hurriedly ran forward and instructed, "Little Gary,

Ernest, stay with Little Aunt."

"Boys, come here quickly." Alice also hastily called the children over.

Soon, Grace reached the front and saw two groups of people confronting each other.

Alex was blocking the entrance with a few bodyguards from the Jones family.

"It's illegal to break into a private property so brazenly," Alex uttered solemnly.

"Shut up, it's none of your business. Get out of the way." A burly man who took the lead shouted at

Alex, "Go away. We're only here for the ashes."

Concurrently, Grace had already run into the front hall.novelbin

She dashed straight toward the ashes urn. The closer she approached it and took a look, she was

suddenly stunned.
