Chapter 509

Heinz stood by the door, his tall figure illuminated by the lights from the hallway.

He stood behind Grace. He noticed that she was staring at the child before her in a daze.

She was terrified of meeting him.

Grace was probably too timid to see him.

Heinz faltered as he looked at her silhouette.

She had given birth to two children with such a fragile body. One mistake in one night led her to bear

this heavy weight for countless years.

Heinz's pupils constricted as he thought about this. His heart began to throb in pain, and a lump formed

in his throat. He found it painful to even swallow.

Grace stood at the doorway and stared at the sleeping boy on the bed.

She wanted no more than to rush over and embrace him, and tell him about her woes.

However, she couldn't take a single step forward.

She felt that she had wronged her son.

Truthfully, she was the one who did not foresee the possible dangers; she was the one who did not

take care of her son, leading to their separation.

She owed him a lot.

Her two legs felt extremely heavy. She couldn't take a step forward. Every step was weighing her down

and she could barely control her emotions.

Grace took a deep breath. Trying her best to restrain herself, she started walking towards Ernest.

She knew that she had to do this.

She would do anything for her son. She had finally found what she had lost.

Her eyes teared up once again, and she swallowed nervously as her entire body trembled.

She slowly stepped towards her son.

Heinz looked at her from behind. He could almost see the strength emanating from her body.

As a mother, she was strong.

Every woman would probably become strong for their children.

His eyes wavered and he felt bad for Grace.

He thought to himself that he should never let her down in his lifetime. He would never forgive himself if

that was to happen.

For the rest of his life, he would treat her well.

After a long while, Grace was finally by Ernest's side.

She slowly turned on the bedside lamp. The light illuminated his features, and she felt a sense of

familiarity as she looked at his face.

It was obvious that Ernest was her child.

His face, his features were all a combination of her and Heinz.

Little Gary had inherited Heinz's genes well, so he looked completely like Heinz.

Ernest looked more like a mix between Grace and Heinz.

She reached out her hands to touch his face, but she suddenly halted.

She retreated her hands quickly. She suddenly remembered that her hands were cold, and she was

worried that the cold was going to wake him up. She rubbed her palms together until they were warm.

After that, she finally reached over hesitantly and touched his face gently.

Ernest was sleeping soundly. When her hand fell, his eyebrows moved slightly.

Grace felt a strange sensation surge through her entire body.

Ernest had inherited Heinz's brows.

His long lashes were the same as hers, and his big eyes also resembled hers.

His tiny nose was really adorable too.

Even his nose resembled that of both Heinz and herself.

He took after her small mouth, and his jaw looked like Heinz's.

She gently traced over his features, unable to put the overwhelming feeling in her heart into words. Her

eyes welled up again.

One of her hands gently held onto Ernest's hand, while the other one was still on his face.

A teardrop fell onto his tiny hand.

Grace took a deep breath, wanting to stop her tears, but she couldn't stop them no matter how hard

she tried.

She really wanted to burst into tears with him in her arms, never letting go of him. She didn't know how

to make up for the past few years of absence.

Whenever she thought about it, she would be in so much pain that it was hard to breathe.

She couldn't stop her tears from streaming down.

Ernest shivered as he felt the teardrops falling onto his hand. He suddenly opened his eyes.

He looked alarmed and frightened.

The fear in his eyes disappeared when he saw that it was Grace. Worry and surprise resurfaced in his

eyes instead.novelbin

"Aunt Smith, w-what's wrong?" Ernest sat up from the bed. He looked at Grace, and then looked at

Heinz by the door. He was very puzzled.

When he saw her tears, he immediately became anxious and worried.

Grace couldn't stop her tears from flowing out. Looking at his face clouded with worry, she didn't know

what to say.

She tried to say something, but no words came out of her mouth.

"Aunty, why are you crying?" Ernest saw that his father kept silent as well, with a serious look on his

face.

Heinz's heart clenched at his words, and he faltered. "Ernest, l-l..."

"Heinz," Grace interrupted him. "I will tell him myself.'1 Heinz understood her feelings.

He did not speak again as he entered the room.

Heinz walked over to the bed and looked at the woman before him. Grace's face was streaked with

tears. He wiped them away with a piece of tissue.

"Aunty, Dad, what's wrong?" Ernest was very confused.

He saw that his father's eyes were a little teary, and his voice was shaky as well.

He looked over at Grace, whose face was covered in tears. She was staring at him with such intensity

that he could barely handle it.

Ernest could only look at them in a daze. He didn't know what was going on.

Ernest repeated, "Dad, Aunty, what's wrong?"

"Ernest," Grace wiped her tears quickly and embraced him. "Ernest, I'm your mother. I'm not 'Aunty',

I'm your mother."

Ernest was so surprised that his mouth hung open. He forgot to even react.

He gently rested his chin on Grace's shoulder as he looked at Heinz in disbelief.

Was this true?

Heinz nodded silently.

Ernest was still shocked. He didn't know how to react. He thought that he had misheard her.

How could this be possible?

"Ernest." Grace hugged him tightly and said, "My son, it was me who let you down. I had lost you. You

and Little Gary are both twins, and you are my child. I have finally found you. Ernest, my baby."
