Chapter 429

"He's alright," Heinz said to Alice. "I got the news on my way here that his condition is now stable. He

will be fine after he rests."

"That's good," Grace also breathed a sigh of relief. "Another burden off your chest."

"Yes," Heinz nodded.

Seeing how calm Grace was, Jensen could not help admiring her.

When Grace had previously asked him about Jodie Lawson, he had already been deeply impressed by

Grace. At that moment, Heinz still didn't know that Grace already knew that he had been treating

Jodie's parents as his own.

Jensen sighed internally at the way Heinz was acting.

"The Smith Sisters are really different when dealing with issues like this."

They were more open-minded than most men.

Glancing at Heinz and seeing the suspicious look in his eyes, Jensen didn't bother to explain but said,

"Sit down and have a rest."

"Alice, pour a cup of tea for Heinz. He doesn't look well," Grace looked at her sister and said.

"Oh, okay, just a moment," said Alice before heading to the kitchen and making some tea. When she

came back, she poured a cup of tea for each of them.

"Thank you," muttered Heinz. The sharp features on his face were tense at the moment, he looked very

tired.

"Is it that bad?" Jensen asked. "Uncle Lawson's body is getting worse day by day."

"Not good," Heinz said. "He's still alright if he does not see me, he becomes agitated once he sees

me."

Jensen was stunned and looked at Heinz warily. Both of them exchanged a look, but they didn't say

anything.

They had been friends for many years. Of course they would be able to understand each other's

emotions with just a glance.

Jensen said, "Since you are tired, you'd better not go there so often in the future."

"Yes," Heinz nodded. "That's the only way."

The two of them then ended the conversation.

Grace too roughly understood what was going on. The news recently had made many peoplenovelbin

speculate her relationship with Heinz and the media even reported that Heinz's son, Little Gary, was

already five years old.

Grace thought that it might be because Jodie's parents were greatly shaken by the news.

Looking at Heinz's contemplative face again, she felt a little worried.

She picked up the phone, looked at it, and sent a message to Jensen.

"Officer Charm, can you help me ask if Uncle Lawson found out about Little Gary and blamed Heinz?

Please! Also, please keep this as a secret."

After she typed her message, she drank a cup of tea and sent it to Jensen. She made sure no one was

paying attention to her.

She also got up and went to the kitchen.

As soon as Jensen's phone chimed, he picked up the phone and looked at it.

As soon as he saw the message, he subconsciously looked in the direction of Grace. She had gone to

the kitchen with Alice, giving the two men some privacy.

Jensen quietly put away the phone and looked at Heinz. He said, "Did Uncle Lawson find out about

Little Gary and Grace? Is that why his condition deteriorated? Because he was distressed?"

"Yes," Heinz nodded as he replied in a low voice. "To be exact, it's because he found out that Little

Gary is already five years old. He thought that I had a girlfriend six years ago and couldn't accept it."

Jensen nodded and said, "That's understandable. Uncle Lawson is someone who tells you to get a

girlfriend, but once you really do, he might not be able to accept it."

Heinz didn't say anything. He picked up the cup of tea and drank it in one gulp.

Jensen poured him more tea. He tried to comfort him, saying, "Don't take it to heart. You have done

your best forthem."

Heinz still didn't say a word. He leaned back and whispered, "All these years, I do feel sorry for them.

It's cruel that they have lost their only child, but I do not think I have done anything wrong. Now, I feel

guilty towards Grace and Little Gary."

"Have you ever thought of coming clean to her?" Jensen said tentatively, "Just let Grace know."

"I don't dare to do so," Heinz said bluntly. Looking at his good friend, he twitched his lips and said

bitterly, "I can't afford to lose her."

"Maybe she doesn't care at all!" Jensen continued to coax patiently. "I think the Smith Sisters are really

open-minded."

"I know," Heinz shook his head. "I still can't afford to take the risk. I'm afraid she can't accept it."

"How do you know she can't accept it if you choose not to say anything?"

Heinz looked at Jensen in surprise. "Do Grace and Alice know something?" he asked.

Feeling a little guilty, Jensen shook his head, denying, "No way, didn't you keep it from them?"

"I didn't tell her," Heinz said. "She only knows that my ex-girlfriend has passed away. I told her that

Jodie has passed away, but she doesn't know that Uncle Lawson is Jodie's father."

Jensen sighed in his heart and thought to himself, "She already knows your secret..."

This was a classic example of making subjective guesses about others' intentions.

"I think it's better if you be frank with her," Jensen tried again.

"It's not the right time," Heinz shook his head almost immediately.

It was obvious that he felt very sorry towards Grace and Little Gary.

"Then what can you do?" asked Jensen, looking at him. "You will need to tell Mr. and Mrs. Lawson

sooner or later."

"Let's wait a little longer," said Heinz.

"Dinner's ready," Grace said. "Hurry up and wash your hands. Let's eat."

"I'll come right away." Jensen looked at them and got up to wash his hands. "Heinz, this is your place.

You don't have to be so polite."

Heinz got up, took off his coat and put it on the sofa. He rolled up the cuffs of his sleeves and went to

wash his hands.

After he had washed his hands, Jensen told Grace quietly, "It is as you have guessed."

"Ah!" Grace took a deep breath in surprise and nodded. "Understandable. They must have some

strong relationships with Heinz too."

"Are you still thinking of them?" Jensen really did not know how to comprehend Grace's magnanimity.

"They're already old and they have lost their child. Why should I be mad at an old man?" Grace

shrugged her shoulders and said, "Come on, let's have dinner."

When the two of them went to the dining table, they saw Alice looking at them.

Jensen smiled and said, "Let's eat."

There was still a hint of suspicion in Alice's eyes. She could sense that something was amiss.

Her sister and Jensen were hiding something from her.

She was suspicious.

At that moment, Heinz arrived at the dining table.

She looked at Heinz, who looked worried. She didn't know what was going on.

Heinz came back and sat down beside Grace.

Passing him a bowl of soup, Grace said, "Have some soup."

"Thank you." Heinz took the bowl and took a sip.

"It's strange."

Alice frowned and sat down at the table too.

"Heinz, you gave twenty-five million dollars to the man who slapped Alice today?"

"What?" Alice choked on the soup and began coughing.

"Be careful," said Jensen as he immediately reached out to pat her back.

After her coughing subsided, she looked at Heinz with her eyes wide open. "Brother- in- law, are you

stupid?"
