Chapter 408

Jensen was startled. "All of them have been caught?" he asked, relief evident in his voice.

"Yes," replied the caller.

"Great. Keep an eye on them and interrogate them tomorrow morning. Remember to detain them

separately. So I guess we don't have to work overtime today."

"Really?" exclaimed the caller in surprise. "No way! Not working overtime?"

"Yes. Now go away would you," Jensen hung up the phone with that.

Alice overheard him saying that he wouldn't have to work overtime.

She stared at him with wide eyes.

Jensen put the phone back into his pocket and walked toward Alice, holding her hand. "No more work.

Let's go home."

Alice was puzzled. Seeing Jensen's big hand tightly wrapping hers, it melted her heart.

She took a deep breath and asked, "Why is that so? It's so sudden."

"Well, we've arrested the criminals. There's no rush." "So, you don't have to go back to the station

now?" "Yeah. I want to go back with you now," Jensen declared. He tilted his head to look at Alice and

led her to the car.

Alice breathed in deeply to calm her pounding heart.

Soon, they returned to Hart Villa District.

As soon as Alice entered the house, she walked straight to the bedroom, wanting to take a shower.

Jensen swiftly grabbed her from behind and pulled her into his arms, embracing her tightly.

'Alice, why are you in such a hurry?"

With her body sticking to him, Alice could feel the obvious changes in his body. "I'm going to take my

shower."

Jensen tensed up. It was evident that he was being impulsive.

Alice did not dare to move.

She was even more frustrated at that moment. If she couldn't succeed this time, what else could she

do?

Nevertheless, she had to slip into the bathroom and take the medicine.

She could only do her best and leave the rest to God.

However, Jensen was still hugging her tight, saying softly, "Alice, I don't need you to do this. I will

overcome it and let you understand my feelings for you. We still have a long way to go. So don't worry

about me. You will only know me better after we have spent enough time together."

His words melted her heart.

Alice knew that Jensen was actually a warm-hearted person.

She nodded. "Let me take my shower first, okay?" "Alright." He finally let go of her.

Alice took a bottle of water and went into the bathroom.

Holding a box in his hand, Jensen watched her entering the bathroom with a gentle gaze.

He looked at the box. Realizing it was indeed sedative, his heart ached.

"What a silly girl she is," Jensen thought.

He hadn't expected her to have a backup plan. Besides the one from the sex store, she had even

bought sedatives.

If he hadn't hugged her the moment before, he wouldn't have felt something in her front pocket.

Thinking that it could be medicine, Jensen had discreetly taken it out. His suspicion was confirmed after

looking at the pill box.

He proceeded to wash his hands, came back, and sat on the sofa waiting for Alice.

Bringing the bottle of water with her, she must be wanting to take the medicine in the bathroom.

Sure enough, the bedroom door swung open less than a minute after Jensen had sat down.

Alice came out of the room with the opened bottle of water in her hand.

She looked around anxiously, her eyes scanning from the main entrance all the way to the bedroom.

But she couldn't find it.

"Where is the medicine?" she wondered.

Just when she started to feel anxious, her gaze fell on Jensen who was sitting on the sofa, staring at

her. The look in his eyes was so complicated.

Alice's heart tightened and she was a bundle of nerves. She said instinctively, "You..."

Then, she stopped abruptly.

She didn't know what to say.

Jensen patted the seat next to him and said, "Come here."

Alice shook her head, saying, "No, I haven't taken my shower."

"Then, what are you looking for?" Jensen asked.

Alice's heart twitched. She suddenly noticed that Jensen was hinting at something.

She looked around and spotted the medicine box on the tea table right away. Instantly, everything fell

into place. He had known it.

Jensen glanced at the box and said, "Is this yours?"

Alice could only bite the bullet and walked over. She nodded, "Yes, I bought it."

"Alice!" There was a trace of regret in Jensen's voice, but more of pain. "If I had known this, I wouldn't

have told you."

"I do this of my own free will," Alice explained. "I wanted to buy it. I don't want things to be kept this

way, Jensen. I want to try my best to change the situation."

Then, she lowered her head, feeling that she had always been a cut below others.

Jensen knew what she was thinking.

He pulled Alice over and let her sit on his lap. Embracing her gently, he said, "Alice, there's no need to

care too much about this matter. More haste, less speed."

Jensen didn't want to force it. For all these years, he had been flooded with guilt. Now that he had

found Alice, he could wait.

After all, he was not a man who only cared about that.

Jensen had to admit that he had the urge even when he was just simply hugging Alice.

However, he believed that, if they hadn't put their souls into the relationship and genuinely love each

other, it would just be fleeting moments of happiness. It would be meaningless.

Also, he believed that if he worked hard enough and made every effort, Alice would open her heart to

him.

Instantly, Alice's heart softened.

Her eyes started misting a little.

She fought back her tears.

She sniffed and rested her chin on Jensen's shoulder, saying softly, "Thank you, Jensen Charm."

When Jensen heard her addressing him like that, he gave her a wry smile.

He reached out to hold her hand, only to feel her sweaty palms.

She must be feeling so tense.

Seeing how she had broken into cold sweat, Jensen could tell that she was trying hard to overcome her

mental barrier.

He shifted Alice's body over and faced her directly. His deep and gentle gaze locked on her big watery

eyes.

"Are you afraid?" he asked.

Slightly stunned, Alice shook her head.

"Your palms are so sweaty." Jensen held her hand and showed it to her. "I thought you're terrified of

me."

She immediately shook her head. "Of course not. I'm just a little nervous, and excited."

She was so eager to succeed that she unconsciously became anxious. She didn't expect that her palm

was covered with sweat. It was really embarrassing that Jensen had seen it.

Jensen's heart twitched in pain. He let out a sigh and said, "You are really a silly girl."

"Silly girl?" Alice pouted, her red lips looking cute. "I'm not that silly, okay?"

Jensen looked at her with a smile and whispered in her ear, "In my eyes, you are a pure, adorable, silly

girl."

"But, what if I still couldn't do it?" Alice was still guilt-ridden.

"Come. Let me show you something," Jensen said while lifting her up.

"But I want to take my shower," Alice muttered.

"Didn't you shower this afternoon? Now again?"novelbin

"Yes," she replied.

"Don't be a hygiene freak," Jensen smiled and led her to the study.

Jensen turned on his laptop and clicked on a video file.

Alice asked in surprise, "What are we watching?"

"A twosome action film," he said.
