Chapter 1850

"I would take my own sweet time if someone else had asked me to come, but since it's you, Idecided to come right away. I knew that there would be something good in store for me!"

As she spoke, Essie could not help glancing at Zayne. She felt a surge of excitement in her heartafter seeing his handsome face.

Just then, Zayne also looked over and their eyes met.

Anyone with a discerning gaze could see at a glance that there were sparks between them.

Everyone looked at them with a smile and said nothing.

Essie smirked at Zayne playfully, and she did not find his gaze cold at all. After all, she waspursuing him.

Since she was already head over heels for him, there was nothing she couldn't do.

Leah followed Essie's gaze and looked at Zayne quietly. Essie seemed all right with the fact thatZayne was ignoring her, and Zayne was being the normal, icy person he always was. Honestly, sheadmired Essie's determination.

Meanwhile, Essie was still looking at Zayne.

She blinked, various plots and schemes she had thought of hidden underneath her adorable face.

Zayne looked at her smiling face. Essie would always have a bright grin no matter when.

Even if she was frustrated, she would get over it in a jiffy.

Hence, he thought she was weird.

Where did she get so much energy from?

That day, Essie was wearing a white cashmere sweater and some leggings. They fit her very welland accentuated the length of her legs.

Zayne frowned slightly and turned away.

Essie's lips curled into a smile after seeing him like that. She seemed very happy indeed.

Leah smiled after observing the invisible interaction between Essie and Zayne, "Here, let meintroduce you. This is Aunt Grace Smith, Ernest's mom."

"I know. I recognize you, Miss Smith," Essie greeted Grace with a smile.

Grace was dumbfounded.

Miss Smith?

Essie was the same age as her son.

In fact, she was very likely younger than Ernest too.

However, if Essie was going to be Zayne's girlfriend, she would have to address Grace intimately aswell.

Hence, Grace grinned, "Welcome to my humble abode."

"I haven't managed to introduce myself. My name is Essie Yarbrough," Essie pointed in Zayne'sdirection and continued, "I'm very fortunate to share a surname with him. My surname was originallyLawell, but I fell in love with a man and decided to take his surname. Hence, I will be forever his."

Essie made her intentions very, very clear with her words.

She was obviously telling everyone that she shared a close relationship with Zayne.

Even though she did not explicitly say anything, there was no way Zayne could refute her words.

Essie looked at Grace and smiled. Her bravery was increasing by the second.

Meanwhile, Grace had a whole new opinion of Essie.

She was very bold, and Grace admired her.

"Wow, that's very coincidental," Grace feigned ignorance to spare her brother's dignity.

"That's right, Miss Smith. I've heard of your love story with Mr. Jones a long time ago. This time, I'vecome especially to give you and Mr. Jones a painting," Essie said with a polite grin.

The butler immediately brought a painting adorned with a red ribbon. The painting was quite big andwas about twenty inches in size.

The painting was a portrait of Heinz and Grace, and they looked like a lovely couple.

It was so lifelike that it could be mistaken for a photo.

It was clear that Essie was excellent at painting since her works looked very realistic.

Everyone was very impressed.

Even Grace exclaimed, "Wow, is this a painting?"

"Yep, I painted this," Essie grinned as she explained, "I found out about your love story with Mr.Jones a long time ago, and I was deeply impressed by it. Thus, I was inspired to paint. I enjoydrawing everyone that reminds me of the person I love, and I love painting people who are in love."

It was obvious that she was referring to Zayne.

Grace was Zayne's sister, and she looked quite similar to Zayne as well.

"You're really good at painting," Grace praised her sincerely, "Your dreams will definitely come true."

"Really? Thank you for your wishes! I hope so too!" Essie chuckled, "When I make it big, I'll makesure to treat you all to a good time."

"Of course," Alice piped up.

Leah introduced Alice to Essie as well, "This is my other aunt, Alice."

Essie looked at Alice and beamed, "I know about you, Miss Alice. You're known to be a verypowerful woman."

Alice was surprised, "You know me?"

"Yeah," Essie blinked and muttered, "I know about everyone who's related to the one I love."

Alice nodded, her expression unreadable.

She winked at Essie as if they shared a secret.

Zayne frowned as he watched their interaction. He was frustrated, but there was nothing he couldsay.

The living room immediately became lively after Essie's arrival.

Meanwhile, Heinz, Jensen and Mr. Yarbrough came down the stairs.

They were surprised to see a stranger in the living room.

Jensen spoke first, "Who's this beautiful girl? Is she our guest?"

Grace laughed, but she did not answer the question.

Alice glanced at her husband and smirked, "Guess who invited her? There's a reward if you get itright.-

While saying so, she glanced at Zayne as a hint. Jensen immediately understood what she meant. He was a policeman after all.

He followed his wife's gaze and looked at Zayne. After a brief pause, he laughed, "Looks likesomeone's getting married. Welcome to the family, dear stranger."

Jensen's words were loaded with meaning.

Essie replied, "Thank you, Officer Charm. I've heard that you are a fantastic policeman, and Iadmire you greatly. You're right, we could be relatives in the future."

Essie said that very naturally, inciting the admiration of everyone around her.

Zayne listened with knitted brows.

Everyone laughed. Grace nodded and replied, "Jensen is right. Her name is Essie, and she's aguest of our family. Furthermore, her surname is Yarbrough. In fact, she has the same surname asyou and Zayne. Isn't that amazing, dad?"

Mr. Yarbrough was a little confused. Nevertheless, he felt that Essie was a beautiful girl.

Mr. Yarbrough glanced in the direction of his son, and then at the playful expressions of the peoplein the room. He suddenly realized something and shot a subconscious look in Essie's direction. Shewas indeed a pretty girl. Furthermore, it was rare for a girl to behave so openly in front of a crowd.Contents belong to NovelDrama.Org

However, Zayne seemed a little awkward, and there was a deep frown on his face.

Mr. Yarbrough thought about it for a moment before he hurriedly walked down the stairs and gaveEssie a proper once over. A while later, he smiled, "I never expected your surname to be Yarbroughas well. It must be fate!"

This is the first time that Essie was meeting Zayne's father, so she was very nervous.

She didn't feel pressured while she was with everyone else, but meeting Zayne's father was ratherstressful.

Furthermore, he looked old enough to be her grandfather.

Hence, Essie felt quite nervous looking at the old yet dignified man. She blushed and greetedpolitely, "Hello there, Mr. Yarbrough. I'm Essie."

Grace noticed Essie's anxiety and walked over to them, gesturing, "Dad, please sit down. Essie,

come sit with Leah."

Mr. Yarbrough immediately realized something was going on and nodded.

After sitting down, Mr. Yarbrough looked at Zayne.

Zayne frowned as he noticed his father looking at him.

Mr. Yarbrough immediately smiled. It was a mysterious smirk, prompting Zayne to frown evenharder.

After a while, Heinz walked up to his wife and said, "It's very lively today. Let's go to the solarium tohave our meal."

Grace replied, "I've already taken care of it. It will be ready soon."

Soon after, the butler entered the room, "Sir, Madam, your meal is ready."
