Chapter 1788

Leah felt that whatever that came out from her mouth was bound to be wrong, and she was rendered speechless by Ernest. She felt embarrassedlooking at him.

She could only deny it. "No, it's in the past. There’s no more resentment on my end."

Ernest observed Leah's expression, and it still had traces of the blush she had earlier. He felt that Leah was way too cute for her own good.He felt distressed and annoyed. His frustrations only grew when he recalled that she’d ended her pregnancy because of him

"It's fine. I get it if you hate me. I'm here to explain what happened." Ernest gave Leah a serious look.

"There's no need for that.” Leah replied stubbornly. "There's nothing to explain.”

They had broken up, so there was no need to talk about the past.

It wasn't necessary at all.

Leah lowered her gaze to hide the sadness that flashed through her eyes.

Ernest sighed and said, "No, we need to talk about

this. You need closure."

Leah raised her eyebrow and asked, "Are you sure that I'm the one who needs closure?”

Ernest gave Leah a look. Her retort was swift and sharp, and it was clear that the incident bothered her a lot.

He nodded and said, "I think there’s a misunderstanding between us that we need to solve. If not, we'd just hate each other more.""If we don't contact one another, there's nothing to hate. Time will heal everything.” Leah's tone was all business.

Ernest could tell from Leah's words that she was still angry.

He looked at Leah and said, "Celeste was both my brother and Is classmate. We studied together and I can't deny that I had sympathy for Celestethat exceeded the limits of friendship. She was pitiful, and I sympathised with her.

But I feel like it wasn't unconditional love. I felt relieved when she got together with my brother.

I thought that it was nothing but a crush. I would find it incredibly unbelievable if you broke up with me because of that.”"I think you got me wrong.” Leah said to him, “You think I broke up with you because you liked Celeste."

“Not entirely,” said Ernest, "You think I still like Celeste.”

Leah shook her head. "Not really. I just can't stand how your attitude did a 180 when I brought her up. It’s like I touched a taboo topic, and you wereready to shut me down immediately.”

Ernest frowned, and his eyes narrowed."My attitude changed because I felt humiliated when you didn't believe me."

Leah shrugged. "Whatever floats your boat, Ernest. You can explain all you want now, but I still feel that you abandoned me. If you cared about me,you wouldn't have waited until now to see me, nor would you have let me leave London alone. You're a powerful man, Ernest Jones, and you couldhave stopped me from leaving London in a million ways. However, you didn’t.”

Pain bloomed in Ernest's chest."I also regret that I let you leave London.”

He closed his eyes. and there was a touch of regret in them.

If he'd put aside his ego and asked-.Leah iostay, perhaps they would=~have avamily together. Furthercnore,Leah'wouldn't need to go throughthat kind of pain. Content L belongs toNovelDrama.Org

His heart ached even more at the thought of this.

Leah felt it strange when she heard the pain and remorse in Ernest's voice.

She could feel all of his emotions, and it annoyed her.

"What the hell are you doing here? You've said your piece, right? Then leave. I want to eat breakfast," Leah blurted out.Ernest looked at her breakfast. It was just noodles with some eggs and veggies. Was it even healthy?

Ernest said, "The noodles are already cold. I ordered chicken soup and dumplings for you. They'll be here soon.”

Leah replied, "No need. I don't really like takeout. It's oily and unhealthy.”

"This one isn't. You can eat it in peace." Ernest gave Leah a guarantee.

Leah frowned and gave Ernest a look. "You said I needed closure. Now that you've finished explaining, you can go."“Leah, I don't want to break up." Ernest finally said what he had been meaning to say all along.

Leah simultaneously felt annoyed and amused. “You don't want to? Now? You didn't say that two months ago. Do you want me to repeat what yousaid?"

Ernest knew very well that Leah was still holding a grudge over his previous attitude. She must've been extremely pissed back then.He regretted it a whole lot, and he honestly felt that his brain had malfunctioned. Why did he treat her like that?

“Leah, I'm sorry." Ernest apologized again.

However, Leahsmiled and shookher head. ‘Yau don't have toapologizeN'm not blaming you =either. I [have to pay the price forlovingyou a little more than I shouldhave-and stepping away wasmychoice too." Content belongs toNovelDrama.Org 6

Leah smiled, but her entire aura was chilly.Ernest was upset as he looked at her.

He leaned back in his chair, and his smile was despondent. "Leah, do you think I love you less than you love me?"

"I knew it from the moment I lefLondon on my own,’ Leah smiled, and her voice was soft. "I told myselfthat the butler put me in the room.beside. yours to give you time ta.gooloff, bub! waited for you for severalhours to no avail. I knew then’ thatar not as important as I thought Iwas, and you didn't love Me as muchas I thought you did.” Contentbelongs to NovelDrama.Orgnovelbin

Leah gave Ernest a look. Her smile was one of abject loneliness.Ernest pursed his lips and said regretfully, "Leah, my ego was off the charts back then."

However, Leah interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. "Well, my ego is off the charts now as well. My love isn't for you to take forgranted.”

Ernest's eyes flashed with astonishment when he heard that.He frowned at Leah. “Do you think I took you for granted?"Leah averted her gaze away from Ernest.

In fact, she knew that what she said was too harsh. However, she could not control herself.

Perhaps she loved him too much, so she wanted to hurt Ernest the same way she had been hurt earlier.
