Chapter 1718

"Why did you bring Celeste here?" Gary asked gravely as soon as he saw Alex. "Where is she?"

"She's inside. Don't worry. From the sounds of it, Miss Celeste has the situation under control."Knowing that Celeste's meeting with Cindy was no trivial matter, he had secretly informed Garyabout it. He did not expect Gary to arrive in two shakes.

Despite Alex's reassuring words, Gary was worried. He continued to frown.

He walked toward the door immediately.

"Master Gary, wait a minute," Alex called out.

Gary stopped in front of the door, hesitating.

At that moment, he heard Celeste's voice. "Do you think you can avoid seeing it by closing youreyes? Let me tell you, the answer is no. Even if you close your eyes, you can't alter the fact thatyou've become extremely hideous. The more you refuse to accept it, the more likely this image willbe engraved in your memory. Moreover, you'll only get older, uglier, and more despicable."

Celeste's voice was low and steady, but it was powerful.

Gary was also startled. He subconsciously looked at Alex.

Alex whispered in Gary's ear, "Miss Celeste seems to have found a way to subdue Cindy. Shemanaged to send Cindy into a meltdown and elicited a lot of information from her. I think it's betterto let Miss Celeste handle it. There must be some things that she's eager to know the truth about, such as the matters regarding her biological mother. If she misses this opportunity, it might bedifficult for her to have another chance to uncover the truth."

"But it's dangerous. What if Cindy hurts her?" Gary growled anxiously.

Alex shook his head and replied, "Cindy doesn't have that much strength. We're keeping an eye onher. If anything dangerous happens, we'll act at once."

Gary took a deep breath and stood by the door. He could still hear Celeste's voice.

His expression was somber, and he felt distressed.

However, he did not open the door.

The conversation coming from inside had astounded him. It seemed that Alex's words weresomewhat reasonable.

So he continued standing by the door and listened to the voices inside, a serious expression on hishandsome face.

Gary took a deep breath and put a hand into his pocket. His eyes were as dark as night and hismouth was pressed into a line. The chilling aura emanating from him was different from how heusually was.

Alex shot a glance at him and stood at the door, paying attention to the situation inside. He couldnot let anything happen to Celeste. He would have to bear the responsibility if anything happened toher, so he was particularly alert.

"Let me go. I said, let me go. Let me go, Vann. B*tch, you conniving b*tch, let me go," Cindysnarled.

Celeste smirked. She continued to grasp Cindy's hair, tugging at it and pulling hard.

"Conniving b*tch? You can call me whatever you want, but I'm determined to teach you a lesson,"Celeste sneered. "I'll punish you in person today. I'll avenge Uncle Jones and Aunt Smith, as well asGary. How can a cunning and evil woman like you use his blood? You don't deserve it."

Gary stood rooted to the spot, not moving for a long time.

Alex blinked his eyes in surprise.

Then, Gary swung his head around and fixed a sharp gaze on Alex's face.

Alex was stunned, and he felt guilty. He desperately wanted to look away.

He wondered if Celeste had told Gary that he was the one that let the cat out of the bag.

"Uncle Logan," Gary muttered through clenched teeth.

Alex's heart sank as the guilt made him panic. He smiled and replied, "Master Gary, if you havesomething to say, please go ahead."

"Shouldn't you be the one with something to tell me?" Gary retorted with a smirk. His voice was solow that it was only audible to Alex.

Even the bodyguards nearby could not hear it clearly.

Clearly, Gary was saving Alex's face by not saying it aloud.

Alex pursed his lips awkwardly. "I don't know what to say," he replied.

Gary looked at him. "You don't know? Uncle Logan, I think you know everything, and you're awareof what you should do."

Perceiving the subtle meaning in Gary's words, Alex's ears turned red. He answered, "Very well. Itold Miss Celeste that you gave your blood to Cindy. I couldn't bear it any longer. I thought that sheshould know about it."

In the end, he admitted it.

Gary looked at Alex with a hint of helplessness in his dark eyes.

He roughly understood Alex's intentions. Alex wanted Celeste to be grateful to Gary.

Alex's perspective on the whole affair was very different from his. In his shoes, he cared more aboutGary and less about Celeste's feelings.

On the other hand, as Celeste's boyfriend, Gary did not want her gratitude to stem from her worryfor him.

However, those feelings were beyond Alex.

Gary did not really blame Alex.

After a while, Gary said, "If it wasn't for your big mouth, she wouldn't have been so concerned."

"But, I seem to have heard that Miss Celeste is going to go to Boston. You know very well that shedecided to go to Boston with you because I spilled the beans. Am I right?" Alex asked with a smile.

"So?" Gary quirked his eyebrow. "Do you need me to express my gratitude to you?"

"There's no need for that, but you have to admit that my big mouth has contributed to therelationship between you and Miss Celeste," Alex said proudly.

Gary snorted. "You mean our relationship wasn't good originally?"

Alex was surprised. He thought that Gary should have known about that.

However, he did not voice his thoughts out loud.

He simply gave a perfunctory smile.

Gary was also taken aback. Following that, he cracked a faint smile. "Uncle Logan, it seems that Ireally need to thank you. Not only have you solidified my relationship with Celeste, but you've alsomade her courageous enough to confront Cindy."

Alex looked at Gary carefully. "Are you thanking me sincerely, or are you just being sarcastic?"

"Of course I'm thanking you sincerely," Gary began. Then, he added, "And also being sarcastic."

Alex smiled. "Let's stop talking and concentrate on the conversation inside."

In truth, Gary's attention had been focused on what was going on inside the ward all along.

Cindy continued yelling whereas Celeste's voice was rather low. Occasionally, it carried a trace ofresentment, and sometimes a note of indignation at the unfairness of her fate. There was no waythat she could treat Cindy with civility.

Celeste detested her. She was absolutely despicable.

She yanked Cindy's hair in a fit of rage.

Screaming, Cindy struggled, inadvertently hitting the mirror. The mirror fell onto the floor.

Celeste stepped back and stared at Cindy indifferently.novelbin

Standing beside Cindy's bed, her gaze turned increasingly colder as she muttered, "For an evilperson like you, you'll get your comeuppance eventually."

Cindy sat on the bed with disheveled hair. When she looked up, her eyes were cold, and sheappeared to have calmed down.

On top of that, there was a trace of clarity in her eyes.

Suddenly, she pounced on Celeste.

Celeste had been on her guard. She suspected that Cindy had not really lost all rationale.

When she saw Cindy lunge toward her, Celeste quickly stepped aside.

Cindy fell to the floor with a thud.

She cried out in pain.

Celeste took a few steps back, looking down at the woman before her.

"B*tch," Cindy swore as she looked up. "You wanted to goad me into having a breakdown? Howabhorrent of you."

Her words stunned Celeste. "It seems that you haven't lost your head. Were you pretending justnow?"

Cindy shook her head, rubbing the area where Celeste had tugged on her hair. She sneered, "Youalmost succeeded. But thanks to my strong will, you didn't. Otherwise, I would've fallen into yourtrap. You inexperienced little b*tch. How dare you try to scheme against me?"

Celeste knew that it would not be that easy to defeat Cindy. From the looks of it, she had failed.

She was a little disheartened and agitated.

Noticing her expression, Cindy felt smug. "You wanted to use my ugliness to provoke me, huh? Sowhat if I have become ugly? No one in this world can defeat me other than myself. You don't havewhat it takes to take me down."
