Chapter 1549

Grace headed upstairs and was about to knock on Gary's door to bring Celeste to another roomwhere she could sleep alone.

After taking a few steps forward, she remembered that Celeste had already returned to her roomjust a moment ago. Celeste couldn't have finished bathing so soon, even if she were to take a quickshower.

It would be a waste of time for Grace to knock on the door.

With that, she decided to head over later.

The first thing she had to do was to arrange a new room for Celeste.

Grace turned around and descended the stairs to look for the butler and ordered, "Butler, didn't I tellyou to prepare a room for Celeste? Go ahead and tidy the room up. Put a fresh bedsheet and aduvet cover on."

The butler was taken aback before he inquired, "Madam, didn't you mention before that MissCeleste and Master Gary could stay together?"

What the butler was trying to say was that it was inappropriate to separate Gary and Celeste.

Grace instantly replied, "Do whatever I tell you to do. Clean the room right this instant. I'll bringCeleste over later."

The butler nodded and left.

Grace then returned to her room to wash up.

When Gary returned to his room on the third floor, Celeste was taking a shower.

The sound of running water could be heard from the bathroom. It seemed that she was not donewith showering yet.

Gary stood at the door, feeling inexplicably sentimental. Deep inside, he knew that Grace hadalready learned about Celeste's miscarriage.

The incident had stuck a thorn in both Celeste's and his heart.

He recalled the pain Celeste had gone through and felt sorrowful.

Standing at the door, he pondered for a while but eventually knocked on the door.

As the knock on the door could be heard, Celeste instantly tensed up and called out, "Who is it?"

"Celeste, it's me," Gary replied.

Celeste exhaled a sigh of relief, "I'll be done in a minute. Please wait."

Gary replied from the outside, "Why don't we take a shower together?"

After falling silent, Celeste checked if she had locked the door properly.

Gary chuckled, "I'm just kidding. Take your time. I'll wait."

Embarrassed, Celeste blushed furiously. After hesitating for a while, she continued to shower.

Soon after she finished her shower, she put on a bathrobe and opened the door. As soon asCeleste emerged from the bathroom, she saw Gary standing at the door with his head lowered tolook at her. His gaze was deep-set and gentle.

Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, Celeste spoke, "You should take a shower now. It's important totake a ritualistic shower after coming back from a funeral home or cemetery to cleanse the bad luck

away."

With his deep gaze still fixed on Celeste, Gary chuckled once more before asking, "Are you sureyou don't want to take another shower? With me? Together?"

Celeste immediately shook her head.

"Hurry up. Well have to wash your clothes!"

Gary had no choice but to enter the bathroom in resentment as he was disappointed to not be ableto shower with Celeste.

It seemed that he had to shower alone.

Celeste dried her hair with a hairdryer before proceeding to put on a fresh set of clothes.

Just as Celeste was about to wash her clothes, she heard a knock on the door. She froze for amoment before rushing to open the door.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw Grace standing at the door. She was a little surprised butthen cracked into a smile, Aunt Smith?"

Grace smiled in return and asked gently, "Celeste, are you done washing up?"

"That's right," Celeste nodded, "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Grace went straight to the point, "Yes. Pack your stuff up and follow me to your room."

Celeste was stunned, "My room?"

"Yes, I've already prepared a room for you. I've been waiting for you to come back during theholidays, but you didn't. Let's go to your room. Take your luggage with you as well because you'll be

staying there tonight," Grace said as she helped Celeste pack up.

Celeste was dumbstruck. Hadn't they agreed that she'd share a room with Gary? Why was thereanother room for her? Although full of doubts, she did not ask the question out loud and instead, nodded obediently.

"Alright, Aunt Smith. I'll go get my suitcase."

Shortly after, Celeste was done packing her bags.

The butler carried her suitcases while Celeste headed downstairs with Grace to her room.

Celeste's room was next to Sylvia's, which was at the end of the hallway on the second floor.

After opening the door, the butler set the suitcase aside and left.

The room was furnished in a feminine style, and Celeste could tell that it was a brand- newbedroom. No one had stayed in the bedroom before.

Grace smiled, "Are you satisfied with it? No one has ever stayed here before. I especially preparedit for you."

Celeste was touched as she nodded in a hurry, "Aunt Smith, you really treat me well."

"Of course I'm nice to you, silly girl. You're my daughter," Grace rested her hand on Celeste'sshoulder, "Celeste, you're such a well- behaved child. Since Gary bullied you, I'll take care of it. Youcan stay here tonight. Don't open the door for him, do you understand?"

Celeste was amused and surprised at the same time. She looked at Grace and nodded obediently.

"Let's take you to a body checkup tomorrow. Also,

I'll make sure to provide food that will bring your pale face back to radiance. Otherwise, I'll feel veryguilty when I see your little face."

Celeste immediately shook her head, "I'm fine, Aunt Smith. I really am. My body feels alright. It'sprobably because I haven't been exposed to the sun recently, which is why my face seems paler."

When Celeste reassured Grace without mentioning anything about her miscarriage, Grace felt evenmore sorry for Celeste. She was all alone, and she couldn't talk about her negative emotions.

"Don't comfort me, Celeste. Look, there's no colour on your face. You're either anaemic ormalnourished. You must be feeling a lot of pressure. As long as we know what the problem is, wecan do something about it."

Celeste wanted to comfort Grace once more.

However, Grace took Celeste's hands and held them firmly, insisting, "My child, let me tell you, ahealthy person should have colour on their face. Haven't you seen Sylvia? Her face is always rosy, and she's also very lively. That's what you call healthy, and it's because Heinz spoils her silly. In thatcase, I'll spoil you."

Celeste recalled Sylvia's appearance. Her face was indeed rosier than hers.

But Sylvia was a child.

A child was naturally a lot healthier than her.

Grace pulled Celeste to the side of her bed and took her seat, "Good girl. I know that you'vesuffered a lot when you were with Gary."

Celeste immediately shook her head as it felt strange and it took her by surprise. She didn't knowwhat the problem was, but she shook her head to deny it.

"No, I didn't. I'm living rather comfortably here with the Jones family. I'm grateful to you all for takingme in. Otherwise, I won't be able to study in peace because I'd be homeless."novelbin

Grace fixed her gentle gaze on Celeste. After a long while, she said softly, "Celeste, you're carryingtoo much burden. That's why you never dare to pick on Gary, and allow him to bully you instead."

Celeste shook her head once more and grinned in embarrassment.

"Gary treats me well. He's never bullied me. It's just his personality."

"Don't speak up for him. Do you think that I don't know what he's like? Anyways, I'll bring you to thehospital for a checkup the next morning. Well carry out both traditional and modern medicalcheckups, alright?"

Celeste had never been treated in such a manner, and she nodded in response, "Alright, it's up toyou."

Celeste could feel that Grace was worried about her. Therefore, she nodded and agreed to Grace'srequest so that she wouldn't feel concerned.

Grace smiled, "Alright, you may take a rest now. I'll go and check on the others. There are someclothes in the wardrobe for you. I bought them. Try and see if they fit you. I'm pretty sure that thetype of outfit isn't outdated. Remember to try them on when you're free."

"Thank you, Aunt Smith."

It was later on when Celeste opened the wardrobe that she realized it really included all sorts ofclothes.

Celeste was once again touched by Grace's actions. Not only had Grace thought of her when shehad been in England, but she had also prepared a room for her at home. Warmth flowed from the

bottom of her heart.

Meanwhile, Gary had already finished showering. When he exited the bathroom, he realized thatCeleste wasn't in the room.

Not only had Celeste disappeared, even her suitcases were also gone. Gary instantly frowned andwent out of his room while still wrapped in a large bathrobe, not having the time to change hisclothes.
