Chapter 1544

"What is it?" Maria immediately grew nervous.

"I met Liam just now. He is going to take a plane to London to surprise you. He didn't want me to tellyou, but I felt that I really should."

"What, he's coming to England?" Maria was very surprised.

"That's right, so it will be better for you to prepare yourself. He should arrive at noon."

"I'll pick him up. I want to pick him up at the airport," Maria shrieked out of joy and planted kisses onher phone, chiming, "Celeste, I love you. I love you so much, thank you."

Celeste smiled. She felt much lighter with that out of the way.

After hanging up, she gave the taxi driver the address of the Jones family from four years ago. Theywere probably still residing there, but Celeste wasn't sure. Hence, she decided to call them first aftershe reached her destination.

When she reached the Jones family's mansion, she had no choice but to call Gary as she did nothave an access card to enter.

Gary was on the verge of falling asleep when he heard his phone ringing. He frowned and picked itup to check who it was. When he saw Celeste's name on the screen, he reeled in surprise. Heanswered the phone and said a single word, "Celeste".

Celeste listened to his voice, as warm and neutral as always. In fact, it was a little hoarse.

He was so disappointed when he had left, but he was still so patient with her then. It was a hugecomfort to her.

Hence, she asked softly, "Are you still at the Jones family's villa from four years ago?"

Gary was slightly taken aback. He reacted sharply, immediately bolting up from his bed whileasking, "Did you come here?"

Celeste took a deep breath, her hands trembling.

Of course, Gary picked up on Celeste's abnormality. Hope swelled like a torrent in his heart. Heasked again, "Celeste, where are you?"

In a small voice, Celeste squeaked, "I'm outside the villa from four years ago. I'm not sure if you stilllive here. I don't have an access card, so I can't get in."

"Wait there. I'll bring you inside immediately."

"I'm on the left side of the gate," Celeste quickly informed him.

"Alright, wait for me there. I'll go out to bring you inside. It won't take long," Gary said as he put onhis clothes. He did not hang up, so she could hear all the swishing noises coming from his end.

Listening to those noises, she could tell that he was in a tizzy. She murmured softly, "You don't haveto rush. I can wait outside."

"Don't hang up. I'm going out now," As he said that, Gary gave the door a light push and walkedoutside.

He walked so fast that he was almost running. When he got downstairs, he got into the car anddrove to the gate.

As the gate and the door of the villa were separated by a considerable distance, he decided to drivethere.

When the car arrived at the gate of the villa, he saw the figure that he missed so much standing onthe other side of the gate, surrounded by greenery. She was clutching her phone, her gazewandering.

He looked at her from afar. When he saw Celeste, he thought to himself that it was enough for him.

Now that she was here, there was no need to say anything. Her mere presence was enough.

He knew that she still had feelings for him.

Gary's heart overflowed with tenderness. From time to time, Celeste would look in the direction ofthe villa, carrying her big suitcase.

He turned the car around and parked it beside Celeste. Then, he stepped out of the car and endedthe call.

Celeste then saw his tall and elegant figure/

When he got closer, Celeste noticed how red his eyes were. They were filled with worry. She asked,"Didn't you get a good rest?"

Gary did not say anything in reply. He walked over, reached over with his long limbs, and pulledCeleste into his embrace.

He hugged Celeste tightly. His voice drifted into Celeste's ears, "Why did you suddenly come backhere?"

It was only when Celeste was in his arms that he felt that she belonged to him.

His sudden embrace startled Celeste. In a muffled voice, she mumbled into his arms, "I finallystarted seeing straight. I should attend the funeral."

Gary smiled, then hugged her even tighter.

"So you finally found your conscience?"

"Yes, that's right," Celeste did not refute him. On the contrary, she admitted to it directly, "That's true. How are Uncle Jones and Aunt Smith doing?"

"Not good."

Celeste immediately looked up from his arms and asked seriously, "You're sad, aren't you? I can'tunderstand the pain of losing a beloved relative, but I can imagine that it hurts a lot."

When she lost Cindy, who had been her only support for a long time, she mourned and suffered fora long time.

Even though they were not related by blood, it was still enough to make her that depressed. Whatwould it feel like if they had been bound by blood?

Gary said, "Heinz's father, my grandfather, is an unreliable man. Heinz does not see him favorably.Their relationship is also quite complicated. My grandfather only raised him up, nothing more, nothing less. He has committed many wrongs before. However, after his sudden death, Heinzseemed to have aged by many years. I guess that's what they mean by the bond between a fatherand son. In actual fact, Heinz cared about him."

Celeste nodded and said, "Then let's go in. Has the funeral been held?"

"You arrived just in time. You can still make it to the funeral today. The memorial service will be heldat 3 p.m.."

Celeste was relieved. What a stroke of good luck that she could make it to the funeral. If she hadnot been able to, it would be a regret that she would carry with her all her life.

Right then, she was glad that Maria chided her at that critical moment. Otherwise, she would havemissed it.

Gary opened the door of the car and placed Celeste's luggage in it. After that, he ushered Celesteinto the car and returned to the villa.

Perhaps because it was still early, the Jones family residence was still quiet. Gary immediately tookCeleste's luggage into his room. Of course, Celeste was brought along as well.

She looked around, noting that his room was still the same as it was four years ago. Before shecould observe it more closely, she had been pushed towards the bathroom door by Gary.

Gary instructed Celeste, "Go take a shower first. Get a change of clothes and lie down with me for awhile."

"What sort of person asks someone else to shower as soon as they arrive?" Celeste glanced atGary, her expression muddled by embarrassment and chagrin.

Gary was thrown for a loop. Understanding what Celeste was thinking, he immediately said, "Don'toverthink it. I asked you to take a shower so you can feel more comfortable. You'll feel better afteryou wash all the dirt and grime accumulated from those long hours of traveling. At the very least, you'll feel more awake. Don't you want to meet my parents?"

It was Celeste's turn to be dazed. It turned out that she had read too much into it again. Thus,Celeste nodded and asked, "Do you have a bath towel or a bathrobe?"

"Rest assured. We have everything here."

Celeste did not dawdle any longer. She went to take an hour- long shower, and later walked outwearing Gary's bathrobe.

Gary, who was lying on the bed, immediately smiled when he saw her. He got up and produced ahairdryer to dry her hair with. His movements seemed so natural.novelbin

Neither of them mentioned reconciling, but their actions spoke for them. They had come to a tacitunderstanding.

After drying Celeste's hair, Gary opened her luggage. All the clothes inside were black. It was a seaof black clothing.

This ruffled him. He sighed and said, "You are indeed well-prepared."

Celeste took a change of clothes and went to the bathroom to change.

When she came out, she was wearing black from head to toe, which made her look even slimmer.

Gary looked at her tenderly and embraced her in his arms without saying anything. He carried herto the bed and whispered, "Sleep for a while. We were all busy last night and my mother slept latetoo. I don't think she'll wake up early today."

Celeste glanced at his tired face and said in a low voice, "You should sleep first. I'm not sleepysince I slept on the plane for a long time. I'll stay here and listen for any sound of activity. I'll wakeyou up then, okay?"

"There's no need. You don't have to worry that much. They will knock on my door to wake me up.We'll leave then. Come on, let's sleep together."

Celeste nodded and urged, "Hurry up and rest."

Gary kissed her on the cheek and hugged her. He buried his face in her neck and quickly fellasleep.

Celeste dared not move. She listened to his familiar breathing. She could tell that Gary had reallyfallen asleep.

He must have been exhausted.

She waited until he was deep in sleep before she moved. She looked at the handsome but tiredface of the man in front of her and sighed softly.

However, in the next second, Gary's eyes flew open, belying a trace of panic. When he saw

Celeste, he was obviously relieved.

"Don't worry, I won't go. Sleep well," Celeste assured him.

Gary shut his eyes and fell back asleep.
