Chapter 1531

Although they were separated by the door, Celeste could still hear Gary's words clearly.

His voice was low. It was so low that it seemed to be tapping on her heart. Every word from himseemed to be a musical note that flowed into the deepest parts of Celeste's heart, shaking herentire body.

Celeste leaned against the door and closed her eyes as if that was the only way she could suppressher wildly pounding heart.

Gary's voice continued to drift in from the outside, "I know that you suffered a lot. Back then, Imissed out on a lot of stuff. I know nothing will change by saying it now, but I do hope that we stillstand a chance in the future."

Celeste's heart trembled.

"Celeste, I'm so sorry for not being able to control myself tonight." His voice was still low and soft asit seeped in through the door.

Celeste, once again, blushed. Her face went red to the point of dripping blood, unsure if it wascaused by embarrassment when she heard those words.

Whenever she thought of that instant where she threw herself into his arms, she couldn't help butblush.

She did not want to be in a relationship with him anymore, but she would fall for him over and overagain. She was mad at herself as she realised that her thoughts could easily be swayed by him.

So, she did not open the door and pretended not to have heard him.

There was no response.

However, Gary, who was by the door, continued muttering, "Celeste, I will do my best to be the idealman in your heart. By then, I really hope that you can give me another chance."

Even after he finished talking, Gary continued to stay at the door for some time. He hoped thatCeleste would open the door, but it remained closed even after a long while. He heaved a long sigh.

After a brief moment, he spoke softly once more, "Celeste, you should sleep earlier. Don't continuestudying. Let's go to work tomorrow morning. Goodnight, then. I'm going to head up right now."

With that, Gary stood at the door for some time before he turned around and headed upstairs.

Celeste listened to the gradually leaving footsteps with her heart still hanging mid-air. She openedher eyes after some time, her moist eyes full of fear.

She took a deep breath and opened the door quietly to take a peek at the outside.

No one could be seen in the corridor.

It seemed that Gary had truly gone upstairs.

Celeste stared at the corridor for a long time in a daze before she gently closed the door.

When she returned to her room, her heart was disturbed once more.

She was really upset about how useless she was.

Celeste could not fall asleep that night, gradually falling asleep after two o'clock in the morning.

Early in the next morning, someone knocked on her door, and she was awakened. When sheopened her eyes, she looked in the direction of the clock only to discover that it was already eighto'clock in the morning.

She was so shocked that she leapt up from the bed.

Oh no, she was going to be late.

The knocking sounded once more.

Celeste hurriedly rushed towards the door to open it. She saw Gary standing at the door, anoppressive aura emanating from his tall figure. He lowered his head and looked at Celeste with ahint of shock and worry in his eyes.

"Did you just wake up?" Gary asked.

Celeste was embarrassed. When she noticed that he had changed into a decent and elegant suit, she swallowed the words that were at the tip of her tongue, surprised by how dashingly goodlookinghe was.

Celeste lowered her head and did not say anything else.

Celeste had to admit that when Gary put on a suit, he would look like an elite that would have one'sheart skip a beat.

"Did you stay up all night to revise the things I taught you?" Gary asked worriedly, "Didn't I tell younot to read them anymore?"

"I didn't." Celeste shook her head.

"So, you didn't sleep?" Realization dawned upon him. When he saw the dark circles around hereyes, he hurriedly asked, "Did you have insomnia last night?"

Celeste was annoyed when she heard the word "insomnia". She urged, "You should head over. Imight be late. I still need to take a shower. I don't have time to talk to you. See you later."

With that, Celeste closed the door while her heart was in a chaotic state.

She took a deep breath and hurried into the bathroom.

As she was running late, she took a quick shower. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she changed into a new set of clothes and opened the door, only to see that Gary was still standingon the same spot.

Celeste was stunned. She asked, "Why haven't you left yet?"

Gary was at a loss for words. Must Celeste distance herself from him in such a manner?

He told her, "Wouldn't you be even more late if I were to leave? We'll head over together. Youshould come down and have breakfast. There should still be enough time."

"I won't have breakfast anymore," Celeste reached for her bag and was ready to head to thecompany.

"I've asked Pedro to prepare it for you. I had mine. If you have your breakfast right now, thetemperature of the food is just right," Gary replied in a low voice as he walked alongside Celeste.

She had no other choice but to only go with him.

The two of them went downstairs for breakfast. Gary watched as she ate.novelbin

Pedro's eyes fell on the two of them. It seemed like he was watching the fun as he looked at them ina curious manner.

Gary shot Pedro several glares.

He pretended not to have seen it.

On the contrary, Celeste felt uneasy.

She hurriedly finished her food and headed out.

Pedro called out behind her, "Miss Celeste, don't leave in such a hurry. Wait for Master Gary, can'tyou see how worried he is about you? He's sweating all over."

Celeste half-jogged at a fast and anxious pace. She heard Gary's footsteps closing in on her.Fortunately, his legs were longer than hers, so he could catch up with her in just a few strides.

Celeste's mind was in a mess. She felt greatly embarrassed after being teased by Pedro.

She was so anxious that she fled towards the gate.

When he saw Celeste heading in the direction of the exit, Gary called out, "Celeste, I'll drive us overto the company. Where are you going?"

Celeste stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at him. As expected, his forehead wasdrenched in sweat. The weather was so cold, yet he was still sweating.

Celeste thought of Pedro's tease. She thought he was trying to make fun of them, but she did notexpect it to be true.

She panicked, subconsciously shaking her head as she rejected his offer, "There's no need for that.I can grab a taxi."

When Gary saw that Celeste was keeping to herself again, he sighed and said, "You will indeed belate if you take a taxi. Look at the time. We need to punch in at nine o'clock. Do you think you stillhave the time to get there?"

Upon hearing that, Celeste glanced at her watch. Sure enough, there was not much time left. If shetook a taxi, she would definitely have to waste a lot of time.

"Come on. Let's go together," Gary suggested in a deep voice.

"Alright," Celeste finally turned around and got into his car.

Along the way, the two of them remained silent.

Gary turned to glance at Celeste several times, but she had always had her head turned towardsthe window.

It seemed that after he had told her those words at the door the previous night, Celeste feltembarrassed by the time she ran into him again. Meddlesome Pedro would always bother andsneak a few glances at them from time to time as well. It must have had Celeste feel utterlyhelpless.

However, that was not the way to cope with the situation. She had indeed panicked a while ago.

She had thought of escaping, but when she realised how unnecessary that was, she took a deepbreath and apologized to Gary, "Gary, I'm sorry."

Gary was stunned. He looked at her in surprise, puzzled, as he asked, "Celeste, why are youapologizing to me?"

Celeste pursed her lips, turned around and told him, "I don't know why I ran out the gates andwanted to grab a taxi just now. This behaviour of mine is dramatic. I apologize for that."

"Uh." Gary understood what she meant. He shook his head and said, "You don't have to apologize. Ican understand. Has Pedro always been this much of a busybody?"

Celeste said nothing.

"He's a weirdo," Gary recalled the last time Janice came over, it was also Pedro's meddling that hadCeleste feel uncomfortable, "Back then, he made wild guesses about Janice as well."

Celeste thought of that as well when he mentioned Janice.

She clenched her fists hard.

Gary's heart tightened. He could feel that Celeste's emotions were affected by his words, so hehurriedly said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to mention her."

"It's fine." With that, Celeste stopped talking.

The atmosphere turned somewhat awkward for some time.

By the time they arrived at the company, the two of them got even quieter.

As a result of Gary's guidance the night before, Celeste's productivity at work was boosted by a lot.

Even Eason could not help praising her.

As he scanned through the documents Celeste had handed to him, Eason smiled and said,"Celeste, you're making rapid progress. It seems that Gary knows how to teach you better than me.""That's not true, Master. I really learned a lot from you," Celeste replied out of politeness.

Eason lifted his eyebrows and placed the documents on the table, saying, "Celeste, you're still aninnocent student. I can tell that you were being polite. With Gary as your colleague, would you saythe same thing if he were to be here?"

Celeste was stunned.

Eason went on, "Those who put in their efforts to help you will feel as if you don't care about theirhelp. This is a great taboo in the workplace. Everyone wants to show that they handled their workalone, but Gary was the one who helped you so that you could advance and improve. You mustremember to thank him."

"I didn't bad mouth him," Celeste panicked and replied anxiously, "What I mean is, Master, you didhelp me out a lot. I'm grateful for your guidance as well."

"What about Gary?" Eason smiled and asked in return, "I know you're grateful in your heart, but onewho does not know you well might not think of the same thing, or perhaps you treat Gary assomeone close to you, so that's why you only thanked me, and not him."

Celeste opened her mouth wide in shock after hearing what Eason had said.

"Go, go and thank Gary." Eason noticed her astonishment and smiled, "The workplace iscomplicated. Sometimes, people may have small thoughts that you need to consider well."

"Thank you, Master." Celeste nodded and said humbly, "I'm going to take my leave right now."

She returned to her seat. Gary glanced at her, "What did Eason tell you?" "Master asked me tothank you. He could tell that my progress was the result of your guidance," Celeste honestlyrepeated Eason's words.

"There's no need to thank me," Gary seemed unbothered.

"But I really want to thank you," Celeste emphasised earnestly.

"Is this what Eason said?" Gary shot her a glance before asking, "Did he want you to thank me sosolemnly?"
