Chapter 1473

No matter how shameless Adrian was, he was still flustered by Leah's question. He looked atErnest for help.

Ernest still smiled as if he was a spectator watching from the sidelines, completely uninvolved.

"Leah, I refuse to answer your question," Adrian said in a low voice.

"Pfft." Leah shrugged. "Sure, it's your freedom to do so. You have the right to not answer."

"Is she really a girl?" Adrian looked at Ernest and asked like he couldn't believe what washappening.

Ernest put on his usual smile and let out a cough to change the subject. "The food's here, aren't youguys hungry? Let's eat."

It was just then that the waiter began serving their meals.

Leah was bewitched by the aroma of the food, and in an instant her attention all but shifted to thefood in front of her.

"Wow, it looks delicious. Quick, let's eat, my fellow brethren." Leah was a step ahead of them, already picked up the cutleries, and began taking her first bite.

When the pork chops were served, she had already gobbled up a lot of appetizers, and yet she wasstill able to continue feasting on the tender and juicy pork chops.

The sight of her indulging herself while biting onto the fragrant meat had the power to make othershungry as well.

As Adrian looked at Leah, it seemed like Leah was really enjoying all the dishes.

After finishing lunch, it was halfway through noon. The three of them sat idly and were ready to goback to the hotel.

In the evening, Ernest and Leah dropped Adrian back at his hotel. Coincidentally, Adrian's driverhad also arrived with a car full of items, and Adrian began unloading them into Ernest's car.

"These are some local snacks I bought for you. Take it and share it amongst yourselves. As for me,my driver's bringing me back to my hometown tonight. Thanks for hanging out with me today."

"Are you leaving so soon?" Ernest was a little surprised. "Is it because Maria isn't accompanyingyou?" "Sort of." He smiled and said, "Looks like I came at the wrong time." "We can hang out withyou," Leah said. "You can stay for two more days."

"No." Adrian quickly shook his head. "I'm scared of you, Leah."

"All because I asked you a private question?" Leah thought back to when they were at therestaurant. Adrian had yet to give her an answer.

"Stop bringing it up." Adrian raised his hands in surrender. "I'm going back for real. I don't knowwhen we'll be able to see each other again after saying goodbye, but if fate allows it, we'll meetagain in the future."

"That's that, then." Leah was rather forthright.

"Let's meet again if we have the chance."

Adrian smiled and said, "I'm leaving tonight, no need to inform Maria. She's busy being in herhoneymoon period now."

"Understood." Ernest shook hands with him. "See you in England."

"See you."

Adrian left that exact night.

Ernest then drove Leah back with his car full of snacks. When they were downstairs, Ernest said,"There are three full bags of snacks in the trunk. Maria's bag has hers and Liam's name written onit. The other two bags are for you and me, but I'm not so fond of snacks, so you can have myshare." "Are you giving it to me?" Leah was a little surprised. "I think you should bring it back. Whoknows if you might like it?"

"Don't you want it?" Ernest looked at her with a smile.

Leah looked back at the pile of snacks and pondered for a moment. "Do you really not want it?"

"Like I said, I'm not fond of snacks," he said frankly.

"Okay then, but I might have to ask for your help bringing these to my place." Leah beamed as ifshe had won a good bargain. "You have to help me out, as I wouldn't be able to carry everything bymyself."

"Roger that." Ernest replied without hesitation. He sent Leah back to her residence in an apartmentbuilding, and pulled up below the building. Ernest was quite surprised. "Do you not live in the schooldorms?"

"Nope." Leah shook her head with a smile. "I live in the teacher's apartment building. It's quiet here, and it's great for my craft."

The teacher's apartment building had old-fashioned stairs. It looked like many teachers

didn't like living in the areas of the old campus and moved to newer residences.

Leah rented a two-bedroom apartment, and she lived alone.

There were heaps of snacks, and it took them three rounds to carry everything up.

"Take a seat and rest for a bit." Leah went to wash her hands and gave Ernest a bottle of mineralwater.

As Ernest sat down on the sofa, he admired the tidiness of Leah's residence. The sofa in the livingroom was made of cotton fabric. Inside the room was spotless, and two room doors were left open.Gazing from the living room, he could see one room being the bedroom, and the other being thestudy.

"Thank you." Ernest smiled. He unscrewed the bottle cap and took two sips. "Do you live on yourown?"

"Yeah." Leah nodded. "It does get a little lonely, but I don't like being disturbed when I'm working onmy crafts. There are too many people with different schedules living in the school dorms. I also haveto write my books whilst taking classes for credits, so I just moved out. It worked out in the end asneither myself nor others were affected."

He indeed agreed that it was a pretty sound plan.

Ernest nodded. He started feeling like it wasn't appropriate to be alone with a girl who was single fortoo long, so he stood up and said, "We hiked quite a distance today. You should go to bed early, I'llbe heading back."

She looked at him and asked him in surprise. "Ah, are you leaving now? You barely sat down for aminute."

Indeed, he was inside for about two measly minutes, but Ernest, a person of manners and etiquette, made his decision to leave.

"You still need to write updates for your book, right? Not to mention it's been a pretty tiring day, so I'llbe off. Bye," He said as he made his way to the door. He nodded with a smile on his face, andconsiderately closed the door behind him.

Leah was left confused in the house. If it weren't for the unfinished water battle left on the table, shemight really feel like as if no one was in there earlier.

After snapping out of a daze, Leah hurriedly took her keys and ran after him.

When Ernest arrived downstairs, he heard someone behind him calling his name, "Ernest."

He turned around and was surprised to see Leah. "Why did you come down?"

"This is for you," She grinned and said. "I took all the food Adrian gave you, I felt a little bad."

"Really?" Ernest smiled slightly and said, "You don't have to feel bad about it. I know you'll end upfinishing it and not waste it. Instead, it would be a waste if it was given to me."

"If you say it like that, then I'll be sure to savor every bite without having to feel bad." She winked. "Iguess you can go now, please drive safe."

"Of course, goodbye."

Ernest got in and started the car. When he turned around, he glanced towards Leah. She stood onthe side of the road, petite and thin. Seeing that he was ready to go, she waved her hand at him.

Ernest was about to leave, but he reversed his car and rolled down the window. He looked at Leahand said, "Go back upstairs."novelbin

"Yes, sir." Leah gave him a salute.

He smiled at her exuberant and pretty face before driving away.

Leah waited until the car was driven far away before she turned around went back in, feeling a littledistracted.

Back upstairs, she flopped onto her sofa.

That night, she wasn't able to write an update.

Ernest waited for the update until midnight, but there still wasn't one. He looked at Leah's messageboard, which wrote: "I was a little out of it today and I couldn't write anything. Sorry for the lack ofupdates."

Was she in a bad mood?

Ernest was a little surprised. They hung out together and had an enjoyable time, why was sheunhappy?

The next morning, Ernest woke up and checked if there were any updates from Leah. When thepage loaded, the most recent update had twice the amount of content as usual, and it was lastuploaded at five in the morning.

It seemed like Leah hadn't slept all night.

He opened the latest chapter. The update was humorous and interesting, and he couldn't hold backhis laughter. However, for some reason, he felt like there was a lingering sense of loneliness woveninto her words.

There were no messages, nor was there a response.

At noon, Maria called. "Ernest, has Adrian gone home already?"

"Yea, he left last night."

"Why did he leave so quickly?" "He probably had something going on at home," said Ernest. "By theway, the snacks he bought for you and Liam are in my car. Do you want me to send them to you?"

"Well, I'm at home now," Maria said.

"Then, I'll send it over to you."

"All right."

With his phone in hand, he went downstairs and drove to the Lowe family residence. Coincidentally,he bumped into Liam at the entrance.

Liam's car was pulled up outside the Lowe family residence.

As soon as Ernest arrived, he unloaded the snacks into his car. "It's from Adrian. He didn't want tobother you two last night. Since I bumped into you, you can just put it in your car."

Maria came out as soon as she finished packing.

Looking at the two of them, he couldn't help sighing. People in love indeed were happy, and theywould probably just be together with each other every second of the day if they could.

However, those happy days were bound to pass in a flash, and soon, school was about to start.

Ernest was ready to book the flight tickets. When he called Maria, she was still with Liam.

Upon hearing that they were about to go back to

England, Maria was shocked. "Is school starting so soon?"

Beside her, Liam tensed up when he heard her utter those words.
