Chapter 1458

Maria had to admit her father was right even if she didn't want to.

She had been too forthright.

It was true.

Of course, she knew.

But she couldn't help it.

Because she loved him, she couldn't help wanting to be close to him all the time. Even with just onecall, she would appear right in front of him, even if it was in the middle of the night.

After thinking rationally, she had indeed been too forthright.

Zachary could tell Maria was taking in his advice.

With that, a touch of benevolence surfaced in his eyes, knowing his daughter was brilliant.

He was truly pleased.

Zachary said, heartfelt, "Why don't you sit down. This will take a while."

"Mm." Maria sat down, and the father and daughter faced each other.

"Maria, I'm a man, so I know exactly what men are like." Zachary continued, "It's about time you andLiam move on from your newlywed stage. Go and have fun with Leah and Ernest tomorrow. IgnoreLiam."

She nodded, "He didn't say he was coming along, and I also planned to have fun with the others."

"Remember, you must give him a chance to reflect. Give him some time to think about all of this."

"I understand the relationship both of you have. Seeing how you hesitated earlier, I know you're notthe one wearing the pants in this relationship."

"I'm not saying you have to be assertive, but you need to know what you're doing. Only then canyou get what you want."

"Relationships are the same as investments. Although they aren't identical, you have to be rationalwhen the time comes."

Your mother and I aren't geniuses, but we aren't dumb either, so as our daughter, I hope you'll beable to handle this relationship with sensibility."

"Just like when your mom and I separated for six years. Neither of us was willing, but it stillhappened."

"The pain of parting from each other helped us collect our emotions, making us wiser, and knowingwe couldn't live without each other."

"Sometimes, only after separating that can we truly understand what we want the most."

"It was also then that I realized your mom has and will always be the one in my heart."

"And the same goes for her, so we got back together. We've never truly fought even until now. Evenif we bickered, I couldn't bear to upset her."

"I know very well there's still a lot more for me to work on, but if you can meet a man who treats youlike I treat your mom, then I can rest in peace."

That was the first time Maria heard her father talk so much at one go, and it was about love.

Touched, she looked at her father with tears welling up in her eyes, sparkling. She nodded.

"Dad, I won't be a disgrace. I'll think about what you said, and I'll do my best to figure out what I'mdoing." She looked at her father with determination, "I firmly believe I can make Liam fall for me."

Zachary chuckled, "Good. You're smart. I'm going to give you a hundred million dollars to set upyour management company. I'll collect interest from you as any bank does."

Taken aback, Maria smiled, "Dad, why are you giving it to me so soon? There's still three yearsbefore I graduate."

"The earlier you have the funds, the faster you can lay out your plans," he reasoned, "I'll give youmore after you graduate."

"Dad, don't go looking for Liam, and don't let him know you know about our relationship either," shepleaded, "I don't want him to find out so soon."

"I understand," Zachary said solemnly, "But according to my knowledge, his management companyhas publicized to sideline him forever."

"There's still three more years until his contract expires. By then, they won't be able to do anything,"Maria said.

"A man's spirit can be destroyed in three years," Zachary said, "What do you think of his willpower?"

"He should be able to hold on." She was willing to believe in Liam.

"He's strong-willed?" Zachary snorted, somewhat satirical, "You call a man who calls you in themiddle of the night strong- willed? For a man couldn't even control his lust, how strong could hiswillpower be?"

Blushed, she retorted, "But Dad, don't you think it's because I'm charming?"

"I haven't even done anything, and you're already speaking up for him." Zachary glanced at Mariawith rage in his eyes.

"No, I just have a gut feeling," Maria said embarrassingly, "He's changed. It seems that he reallywants to be with me."

Thus, Zachary reminded her, "You really need to be sensible. Didn't you hear a word I said?"

"I know, Dad. You don't have to bade me like that. I really know what I'm doing." she assured himonce more, her tone obviously lighter.

"Alright, I've already said all that I should. In short, you need to know when to stop and keep himwanting more. You're a girl. You need to look out for yourself," He concluded.

"Yes, Dad, thank you for your advice." Maria really appreciated her father taking her seriously.

"Go get the other car from the garage tomorrow morning," he said.

Stumped, she said, "Would the car in the garage be the same as Mommy's? Don't tell me it'll breakdown easily after being left in there for too long."

"It's the one I use often. Go drive your friend around."

"Thank you, Dad." Maria stuck her tongue out, then went back to her room joyfully.

Watching his daughter leave happily, Zachary couldn't help putting on a weary smile.

Although reluctant, and although he wanted nothing more than to find Liam now and warn the boyto treat his daughter better, he also knew well he shouldn't do any of it; even if he did, it would onlybackfire.

After listening to his wife's advice and talking to his daughter, he was truly glad to see her happy.

Maria received a message from Liam as soon as she got back to her room, saying, "Are you stillup?"

She read the message but did not reply. Then, she went to take a shower. Seeing the hickeys Liamleft on her body in the mirror, she couldn't help blushing.

As she thought about her father's words and Liam's reactions, she couldn't help but feel his attitudetowards her had changed.

She took a photo and sent it to him after changing.

"Have you reached home yet? I took a shower just now."

"I just did," Liam replied. His eyes narrowed when he saw her photo. They had just parted, yet hewas already missing her.

"Don't stay up too late then," Maria sent him a voice message, "It won't do you any good."

Liam also replied with a voice message, "Let's video chat."

Taken aback, she wanted to agree on first thought. However, her father's words came into mind, and she thought he was right.

Thus, She responded with another voice message, "We'll talk for ten minutes then. My dad gave mea different car, so I can drive the others. I'm worried it won't be safe for me to drive if I don't getenough sleep."

Hearing that, Liam frowned and didn't reply for a long time.

Maria laid in bed and grabbed the mirror to look at herself. Her face was delicate and smooth, adorable.

She had a good complexation right then. She had all that she wanted, so she was naturally happy.

She wasn't upset even though Liam hadn't replied to her.

Just as she was about to dry her hair, she received a message from Liam, "Go dry your hair first. I'llgo take a shower."

"Sure."

They shared the same thought.

Five minutes after she had dried her hair, his video call came.

As soon as she answered it, she saw Liam, who had just come out from his shower, in a bathrobe, looking very energetic.

She took a glance and didn't dare look anywhere else anymore.

"I'll accept your invitation," He said, "I'll join you guys tomorrow."

"Huh?" Stunned, her mouth agape, "You're coming along?"

That meant he wouldn't have the time and space to reflect.

"Yes, I want to go out with y'all," Liam said, determined.

Maria replied in a hurry, "You really don't have to force yourself, you know."novelbin

"Maria," Liam continued in a slightly more serious tone, "I'm not. I want to tag along."

Maria's eyes widened.

"You have a lot of misunderstandings about me, don't you?" He asked.

"Misunderstanding?" She was dumbfounded, "I don't think so. Isn't it the other way around?"

"Then how do you define our relationship?" Liam shot back.
