"Is it?" Liam snorted. His tone spoke volumes that one couldn't help doing a flip in their heart.
Hearing that, Maria couldn't help turning to look at him and thought his side profile lookedexceptionally cold.
Maria knew better by now, and she could tell he was upset by nearly a glance. It was clear his moodhad been affected, but she had no idea what upset him.
"Um, Adrian thought I hated you in the past, so he couldn't help asking," Maria explained with asmile, somewhat telling the truth.
But her explanation seemed like she was defending Adrian to him.

Thinking of something else, she asked, "By the way, which hotel do you want to stay in? Have youthought about it?"
"No, didn't you say you'd take good care of me? Didn't you even book a hotel for me?" Adriancontinued to whine, "I say, Maria, aren't we buddies? How could you not take my welfare seriously?"

"Maria, I want to stay at your place," Adrian said, "Your mom said I could stay at your place."
Baffled, Maria shot him
a contemptuous glare, "There are plenty of rooms for you to stay in, but not now." "Why not?"Adrian asked in return.
"Because my mom is pregnant," Maria said directly, "She's resting at home, and she cannot bedisturbed, do you get it?"
"Ah?" Adrian was shocked by the news.

They'd been together for half a day, yet Maria hadn't said anything about it. However, she revealedit to Adrian just like that.
An indescribable feeling grew at the bottom of his heart. He kept having the feeling that Maria andAdrian were very close.
On the contrary, it seemed that there was a barrier between him and Maria.
Although they had an intimate relationship, Liam thought they were emotionally distant.
It was as if Maria always had her guards up against him. He envied how Adrian could interact withher so casually.
But what was even more surprising was that Mrs. Lowe was once again pregnant. Maria wasalready over 20 years old. Would she be happy about her mother being pregnant with anotherbaby?

Just as he was about to say something, Adrian spoke up from behind, "Oh, congratulations then.Guess I really shouldn't bother her."
"Exactly, that's why you can only stay in a hotel."
"I remember you saying you wanted another sibling. I can't believe your wish came through soquickly. Should we celebrate?"
"Of course," Maria smiled and said," Adding a new member to the family is a huge deal. Once mymother has given birth to the baby, I'll invite you over for a party."
"Aren't you going to invite me? " asked Liam.
"Ah?" Maria immediately cast him a glance, "Of course. You're my senior, after all. You should allcome."

Liam was once again displeased.
Liam frowned, realizing he didn't seem to know anything about Maria at all while Adrian could easilyreveal Maria's thoughts and desires. It seemed that they were already close from when they werestudying in England for him to understand Maria that well.
Liam stared at the road ahead, switched on his signal, and drove to the entrance of a hotel.
"Go and check if there's a room available."
"Here? " Adrian scanned the environment of the hotel, "Liam, isn't this place too close to theairport?"
"It'll be convenient for you to take your flight back," Liam said nonchalantly.
Adrian immediately smiled and said, "Liam, I've just arrived and haven't even toured the city yet.You don't want me to go back now, do you?"
Liam said nothing but put on a slight smile at the corner of his lips meaningfully.
To avoid the awkwardness, Maria said, "Liam would never think so. I, on the other hand, think youshould leave as soon as possible. Leave as soon as you've had your fun. I'm really busy."
"Maria, you heartless woman. How could you?" Adrian pouted as he got out of the car.
Maria hurriedly told Liam, "I'll go help him book a room." After that, she got out of the car andfollowed Adrian to the lobby.
In the car, Liam frowned as he looked at their backs.
He found himself feeling all kinds of discomfort. Especially when he saw his woman standing withanother man, he felt as if his heart was grasped tightly.
His woman?
That was right, Maria was his woman.
In the hotel lobby.
As Adrian waited for the check-in procedure to be completed at the front desk, he lowered his headto look at Maria with a sharp gaze.
"Why are you looking at me like that? " Maria frowned.
"You and Liam have known each other for a long time, haven't you?" Adrian asked.
Stunned, she asked, "Yes, what about it?"
Adrian looked at her for a while before saying, "Nothing, it's just very strange."
"What's so strange?"
"Nothing." Adrian shook his head, "As long as you like him."
Maria's heart flipped, "Adrian, what are you trying to say?"
"Maria, there's clearly something else on your mind," Adrian said affirmatively, "The reason youcan't show me around is because of Liam, isn't it?"
Flabbergasted, she looked at him again with a hint of surprise in her eyes.
"How did you know?"
He merely smiled with a hint of sadness at the corner of his lips. Without looking at Maria, he saidindifferently, "I'm smart, so I know everything."
Maria was really impressed. He was smart enough to tell something was going on between Liamand her with one look.
"So, you don't have to be my tour guide anymore. I tour around while you go and spend time withyour boyfriend. After all, you'll be going back to England soon." It was only then Adrian looked ather, "Once you've left, you'll definitely miss him."
Hearing his words, Maria felt bad, "What are you talking about? I'll come over tomorrow morningand show you around. I'll even bring Ernest and Leah along. The four of us can have fun together."
"Oh, please don't." Adrian shook his head, "I'm serious. You'd better spend time with Liam. Can'tyou tell how jealous he is? So as your buddy, I don't want to stand between you and yourhappiness."
"I mean it when I say we're all going out tomorrow. You know that I'm a person of my word. I stillhave some time to spare."
Maria felt that she had to fulfil her duty as the host to show Adrian around Northern City for the firsttime.
"Fine, I guess that's settled. Tomorrow it is then," Adrian added, "You should ask your boyfriend tocome along."
"He may not be able to go out." Maria shook her head, "It'll be troublesome if the paparazzi seehim."
"Right." Adrian thought for a moment and said, "You should still invite him. Whether he comes or notis up to him."
"Okay."
"Sir, here's your key card." The receptionist informed Adrian.
"Thank you." He nodded slightly and told Maria, "I'll walk you back to the car."
"l can head over on my own." "That wouldn't be gentlemanly of me, would it?"
