Chapter 1314

Gary was dumbfounded when he saw how insisting Heinz was, as well as the cold tone he hadwhen speaking. Gary gasped, "Why are you so agitated? Did your hormones go out of control?"

"Don't interrupt me, brat," Heinz was embarrassed because his son had said the truth. Was it reallythat obvious?

Grace was also a little speechless.

Gary was really keen.

"Your expression immediately gave you out," Gary rephrased it.

"What about you?" Heinz questioned him back, "You just conversed with Celeste for a moment andalready you're looking much better. What's the matter with you?"

Gary had a faint smirk on his face, asking, "Why do you have to be so straightforward?"

"Alright then, I'll pretend not to know then," Heinz changed the topic, "Your mother and I havesomething to tell you."

Gary was startled, "What is it?" "It's about Celeste," When Heinz said this, he stared at his sonsharply, waiting for his son's reaction.

Sure enough, Gary squinted his eyes and he looked a little tense.

Heinz chuckled.

It seemed this child had fallen in love.

Though, it was normal for children his age to fall in love.

"What's the matter? Tell me."

"Didn't you ask me to not be so straightforward?" Heinz retorted.

"But you're already halfway through your sentence," Gary wasn't angry at all. He simply said,"Forget it. If you don't say anything, then I'll hang up."

"What are you being so anxious about?" Heinz deliberately slowed down, "Your mother and I havedecided to be Celeste's guardian. In other words, she will be our adopted daughter and your sister."

Gary's entire body stiffened up as he furrowed his brows.

He fell silent for a moment and just stared at Heinz. After a few seconds of silence, he finallyuttered, "What's wrong with Celeste's guardianship?"

Heinz immediately raised an eyebrow at Gary. His eyes were full of admiration and appreciation.

Gary was so perceptive that he immediately found out what the problem was.

After all, he was a sharp and intelligent child.

"They had a huge fight and now they're thinking of cutting off all ties. Celeste's aunt is Cindy White.Aren't you already aware of this?" Heinz asked.

Gary looked at Heinz, his eyebrows deeply furrowed. There seemed to be something going onbetween Celeste and her guardian for them to cut off all ties. However, she didn't even bring any ofit up to him.

Maria also didn't tell him, and nor did Ernest. Everyone knew about this, but he was the last to findout.

Thinking of this, Gary felt a surge of frustration rising within him. It was then that he felt an itch in histhroat.

With that, he started coughing violently. It took him half a minute before he could stop.

"Why are you coughing so badly? You are too weak," Heinz was both worried and anxious. "Whenyour mother told me this, I thought that it was nothing serious. I can't believe that your cough is soterrible. Did you get pneumonia?"

"Can you not curse me?" Gary finished coughing and asked Heinz.

"I will immediately ask someone to find you a doctor," Heinz insisted, "A nanny and butler havealready been prepared. I can't believe Lowell didn't tell us about this! I'm going to make him pay forthis. If this happens again, I'm going to lock all his credit cards."

"What does it have to do with Lowell?" Gary immediately protested.

Heinz didn't argue with his son at all and commented, "That's enough. Let's talk about this later. You've already known that Celeste's aunt is Cindy White, haven't you?"

Heinz suddenly recalled that his son had mentioned this once.

Though, he couldn't remember when.

They had returned to the topic once more.

Gary glanced at Heinz and asked, "So what?"

Heinz snickered, "All of you are very impressive."

"Why is Cindy quarreling with Celeste?" Gary asked with a frown. His tone was full of anger thatwas hard to conceal.

"You can ask Celeste yourself," Heinz did not answer him, "I'm not such a gossiper. I'm justinforming you that she's going to be your sister."

The term sister brought wrinkles to Gary's brows once more. His dissatisfaction was clearly seen.

Heinz naturally noticed the change in his son's emotions at one glance. He smirked slightly anduttered, "You don't look very satisfied?"

Gary shot back, "Does it really matter if I'm unsatisfied?"

"Why don't you tell me why then?" Heinz chuckled.

Gary stared at Heinz and explained, "I don't have a reason. You're the one who thinks I have areason."

"If that's the case, Celeste will be your sister from now on," Heinz didn't want to be so direct abouthis son's feelings. Instead, he teased Gary, "Congratulations, you have another sister now."

"Are you guys addicted to having more children?" Gary started insulting, "Why don't you conceiveanother pair of twins with mom? Maybe then I can have both a brother and a sister."

Heinz chuckled, "Don't worry so much. It's better to adopt than having to give birth to them."

"Hmph," Gary snorted as he stared at the mocking smile in Heinz's eyes again. He had longunderstood what Heinz was thinking.

"What are you snorting for?"novelbin

"It's nothing, it's fine as long as you're happy," Gary quickly said, "If there's nothing else, then that'sall. I'm going to hang up now."

"Grace, do you have anything else to say?" Heinz immediately turned to his wife and asked, "Doyou have anything to say to Gary?"

"Nope. Just ask him to take care of himself. Hurry up and find a doctor for him," Grace urged.

"Alright, I'll hang up now. I'll contact the head of the branch office and ask him to find you a doctor,"Heinz said as the screen cut off and the call was hung up.

After handing the phone to his wife, Heinz asked, "Did you see that? He's not very happy."

Grace sighed, "That's right. If Celeste is our adopted daughter in the future, people will criticize himif he ever lays his hands on her."

"Since you already know, why are you still doing this? Why do you have to take over as Celeste'sguardian?" Heinz asked, not understanding the meaning behind his wife's actions.

"I pity Celeste," Grace explained, "Besides, I'm worried if she were to be taken care of by otherpeople. She might be a candidate for our daughter-in-law. Isn't it better if we were the ones lookingafter her?"

"You are right, but didn't you say that Gary will be criticized by others?" Heinz felt that his wife was abit contradictory.

"So what? If the child doesn't care, does it really matter? You and I know what our priorities are. When Gary finally grows up, he will understand our true intentions and thank us for that," Gracereally weighed the pros and cons and thought that they should help Celeste.

After all, Celeste was in a tight spot. If they didn't lend her a hand, she would suffer.

"That's true," Heinz nodded thoughtfully, "Too many people choose to criticize others nowadayswithout understanding the entire story. Usually, those who gossip have too much free time on their

hands. To be able to become news to the world means that the person is doing well and deservesattention."

"Good that you understand. Hurry and arrange for a doctor to check on Gary. His cough seems a bittoo serious."

"I know," Heinz quickly called and arranged for someone to find a doctor for Gary.

Meanwhile, Celeste stayed inside her room and did not come out.

Her phone was turned on.

Ten minutes after the video call with Gary, she received yet another video call.

She was startled. When she looked at the phone, she saw that it was a call from Gary.

They had just finished talking on Grace's phone, so why was he calling again?

The ringtone was very loud and Celeste was so shaken that she sprinted to lock the door beforeanswering the call.

Soon, Gary's indifferent face appeared on the screen. He asked her directly, "Why didn't you tell methat you've encountered such a serious matter?"

At that very moment, Celeste felt like she wanted to burst into tears.

Back then, didn't they decide to end things there?

Gary took note of her silence and continued, "Even if you're upset, what were you thinking? Whydidn't you look for me when you encountered a problem?"

"I never thought of telling you," Celeste shook her head and explained softly, "I didn't dare to look foryou."

"You didn't dare to?" Gary paused for a moment and was instantly stupefied, "Celeste White, you'vealready done it, so why are you so afraid?"

Back in the past, Celeste might have been confused by his sharp questioning and subconsciouslyhung up the phone. After all that she had gone through, she was able to sort out her thoughts andemotions clearly.

"So you have found out about the issue with my guardian?" Celeste's gaze was fixed on Gary.
