Chapter 1309

Cindy's expression was even more grim. In a sense, she asked for it.

"Seeing that you are so quiet, I would assume that she has gone missing right?" Heinz probed.

"How do you know that she's missing?" Cindy retorted.

"If she is not missing, then why is she not attending school?" Heinz questioned her back, "Unlessthe girl my son mentioned is not actually your niece?"

Katherine quickly thought of something and said, "Mr. Jones, Celeste has been staying at homethese few days."

"Oh," Heinz chuckled and shot a playful look at Cindy, asking, "Since she is at home, then why don'twe have a meal together?"

Cindy was momentarily dumbfounded. She didn't expect Heinz to invite her to a meal in such asituation.

She stared blankly at Heinz, confusion and dismay brewing in her eyes.

"Maybe some other day," Cindy pointed to the house next door and gave an excuse, "I just boughtthe house next door to yours. When I'm done decorating, you can come over to my house."

"That's pretty close," Heinz glanced at the house next door and said, "Since it's so close, your nieceshould also be here. Let me ask my son to check on her."

"Celeste doesn't live here," Cindy said hurriedly.

"If she isn't living here nor at her apartment, then where could she possibly be?" Heinz pressed onaggressively.

Cindy froze.

She shot a wary gaze at Heinz, feeling very guilty. She didn't even dare to look into his eyes.

"What's wrong with you, Miss White? Didn't you say that your niece is my son's classmate? But youare at a loss for words now. Could this mean that your niece has really gone really missing?" Heinzstared at Cindy without even blinking. His words made Cindy take a deep breath.

Katherine didn't dare to answer anymore. She didn't even dare to look at Heinz, but sheremembered that she had to help Cindy out of obligation.

"Mr. Jones, you must be kidding. Celeste is very close to Miss White. They have such a goodrelationship."

"Stop acting," Heinz uttered, "Celeste is missing. And If I am correct, you probably didn't even sendsomeone to look for her."

Cindy felt her heart sink. She found the air heavy and thick, and it made it difficult for her to breatheproperly.

Her face was even paler.

Grace also looked at her and asked, "Miss White, what's going on? Is my son realy correct? DidCeleste really go missing?"

"What does this have to do with you?" Cindy rebutted.

Heinz raised an eyebrow at her, "It's obvious from your words that she is missing. If she is missing, just make a police report. Alternatively, with your popularity, you can publish on the newspaper thatshe has gone missing. See, it's easy to look for her."

After hearing this, Cindy was dumbfounded.

If she went to the media, her reputation would be ruined.

"No," She immediately denied it, "This is our business. Mr. Jones, don't worry about it."

"Then what are you doing here?" Heinz chuckled, "Are you just trying to be our neighbors?"

Cindy was stumped again and she couldn't say anything.

It was then that Grace took the opportunity to say, "Miss White, I don't really understand. If yourniece is missing, why are you still in the mood to chat with us? If that is really the case, you can't beher guardian. Even if this goes to court, you cannot be Celeste's guardian anymore because youare not qualified. You're not even trying to look for her when she is missing."

"If a lawsuit is really necessary," Heinz stared at Cindy and said coldly, "Grace and I don't mindbeing the witness to this case."

"Heinz, I think it's better to report this to the police," Grace said to Heinz, "Celeste is a kind girl. Ifsomething really happens to her, I am going to feel guilty for my entire life."

"There's no need to," Cindy immediately stopped what Grace was about to say. "Mrs. Jones, this ismy family's affairs. It's not up to you to meddle in the business of my family."

Heinz sneered, "Are you kidding me? Do you think my wife cannot intervene with this? It's alwaysright to help those in need. With my influence and resources, I'm definitely able to allow my wife todo whatever she wants."

Cindy felt a chill run down her spine. She had made the wrong move.

She shouldn't have come here in the first place.

She looked at Heinz and then turned to look at Grace. Her lips slightly twitched as she said, "Mrs.Jones, I know you are capable of doing many things. Alright, fine, consider me begging you. Pleasedon't meddle in my family's business. I will find Celeste eventually."

Grace took a glance at Heinz and there was a trace of worry in her gaze.

Judging from Cindy's reactions, it was likely that she didn't even send someone to search forCeleste while she had gone missing all this while. In other words, Cindy didn't really care forCeleste at all.

Heinz also noticed his wife's growing concerns. He just shook his head in silence.

"I'll go back first," Cindy turned around and left.

Her steps were stiff, and she looked very embarrassed.

Katherine followed behind her with a flustered look on her face.

When the two of them finally reached the villa next door and went in, Cindy roared, "Who do theythink they are to humiliate me? Do they think that they are really so capable?"

Katherine ignored her and just lowered her head, saying nothing.

Meanwhile, Cindy was still complaining, "Heinz has always looked down on me. Throughout myentire life, he is the only man that ever frowns upon me."

Katherine still didn't speak and just went around tidying the place quietly.novelbin

No one responded to Cindy's roar. She stomped her feet in anger, "And what right does Grace haveto think so highly of herself? She wants to meddle in my business and even wants to humiliate me?She's so shameless."

Still, Katherine was silent.

"Say something! Why are you not replying to me?"

Katherine stared at Cindy and asked, "Cindy, what can I say?"

"Vo- you can say whatever you want," Cindy stammered as she headed to the sofa. Kicking off hershoes, she plopped down on the sofa and stared at Katherine.

"I think that you shouldn't have gone to greet them just now," Katherine replied softly, "They are veryintimate with each other. You appeared all of a sudden and said something provocative. It seemedas if you wanted to disrupt their marriage. Do you think people are going to treat you kindly?" "Theyhumiliated me back then. If it wasn't for Grace, would there be any nasty rumours about me?1'"Cindy, although I'm not certain what happened back then nor was I there by your side, you havebeen in the entertainment industry for so many years. You've gone through so much, so why do youstill cling to the past? Can't you just forget about it?"

"I can't," Cindy raised her volume, unwilling to give up.

"So what if you can't forget about it? Some people are just born to be rich mistresses. You'realready considered a successful individual, so why do you have to cling to the past? Right now, weshould go and look for Celeste. If we don't, we might not be able to find her anymore."

Cindy frowned as fury crept into her voice, "She did it on purpose to enrage me. I refuse to backdown."

"But you are the one who raised her for sixteen years. Are you willing to see all your efforts over theyears go down the drain? If you weren't worried about her, then why did you come to London aweek after she arrived here?"

Cindy was frozen in place on the sofa. Her expression was a mixture of confusion and unwillingnessas she muttered, "That brat just serves to make me angry. More importantly, now Heinz and Gracepissed me off." "Then why did you take the initiative to go and look for them?" Katherine didn'tunderstand, "They have their own lives and you have yours. Everyone should just live their lives inpeace. Won't you think that it is a waste after spending so much money to buy a house?"

Cindy yelled, "No, I don't regret it."

"But Cindy, your account doesn't have much money left after buying this house. Have you everthought of how many movies you have to star in to earn back all of it?"

Cindy didn't speak for a moment.

"Besides, at your age, there aren't many movies that you can act in. With that temper of yours, there's no way you can earn a living in variety shows either. Then what are you going to do? Youcan't just sit here and do nothing, can you?"

Cindy paused momentarily. She knew that Katherine's words were logical, but she was very upsetand unwilling to accept it.

"I'll arrange for people to look for Celeste." Seeing that she was silent, Katherine picked up thephone immediately and said, "If it is not possible, we can ask the manager to find some people tohelp you. This cannot be delayed anymore. If this goes on any longer, I'm afraid that Heinz mightactually expose Celeste's disappearance to the media. When that happens, I don't think it will lookvery good for you."
