Chapter 1187

Yvonne was greatly astonished.

Zachary drove to a secluded restaurant; it was quiet and only received three tables of guests a day.

As soon as they entered, the owner greeted Zachary. "Wow, Mr. Lowe. You've finally brought aguest with you. You no longer come alone."

Zachary smiled and said, "This is my wife, Yvonne.

This is Mr. Lowe."

"Hello, Mr. Lowe."

"Hello, Mrs. Lowe. You're so young."

"Thank you."

"Let's go inside. Same table."

"All right."

Zachary took Yvonne into a small private room; there were four seats.

There were four stools and a long table.

It was immaculate.

Yvonne asked softly, "Do you often come here to eat alone?"

Judging from their familiarity, Yvonne guessed that Zachary often came here to have meals.

The owner's words just now made Yvonne feel an inexplicable stabbing pain in her heart. She feltas if a needle was piercing her heart even until now.

"Yes," Zachary merely responded softly.

Yvonne felt a little depressed and took a deep breath, trying to get rid of the sadness in her heart atthat moment.

He ate alone.

He ate private home cuisine.

Because he would not be seen by people, and he would not feel too lonely eating in a restaurantalone.

However, this man ate in such a private space, here, alone.

"Why didn't you find someone to accompany you?" Yvonne asked softly.

However, Zachary suddenly turned to look at her, and his eyes were so dark that she was a littlesurprised.

Find someone?

That someone was not you.

The words remained in Zachary's mouth but he did not say them out loud.

Instead, he said, "Who do you think should accompany me?"

Yvonne looked at him and took a deep breath. She became more stifled under his deep gaze.

Her heart ached, and she felt suffocated and depressed.

She originally meant that he could ask an assistant or a friend. But now, she felt that it wasinappropriate.

Yvonne shook her head, unable to say anything.

Zachary felt a little disappointed.

Yvonne also realized this. She raised her head to look at him and said, "I'll come here with you inthe future."

Upon hearing this, Zachary was stunned. His eyes lit up.

A hint of a smile flashed across his eyes; she finally understood.

He felt comforted and happy.

Yvonne laughed, feeling a little embarrassed.

After settling down, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Zachary said in a deep voice.

Mr. Lowe stood by the door and looked at him with a smile. "Mr. Lowe, do you want the usual?"

Zachary nodded and answered, "Yes, just the usual. Add a caramelized apple."

"Yes, sir."

Yvonne paused. Caramelized apples were one of her favorite desserts.

He actually still remembered.

When the so-called usual dishes were served, only then did Yvonne realize that they were herfavorites.

Soy sauce chicken, braised eggplants, black pepper steak, deep- fried ribs, and sauteed lily budswith celery.

The reason she liked sauteed lily buds with celery was that the dish had a nickname, "together for ahundred years".

Back then when she was eating this dish in the school canteen, she would talk to Zachary abouthow romantic it would be to be together for a hundred years.

Zachary did not take a single bite.

He didn't like the taste of thick soy sauce, and the braised eggplant was too greasy. The blackpepper steak was too peppery. He didn't like the deep-fried ribs either. He preferred light dishes.

These were all dishes that she liked; even the rice was her favorite eight-treasure glutinous rice.

She used to love all these dishes.

Why would he order all these dishes?

Didn't he hate eating these?

Yvonne was full of questions and wanted to ask them, but she didn't know where to start. She couldonly stare at Zachary.

Zachary could not see anything out of the ordinary. It was as if he was already used to all this.

Yvonne finally asked the question.

"Zachary, don't you hate eating these dishes?"

He paused, and his hands that held his spoon stopped mid- air. After a few seconds, he answered,"I am used to it now, and I have fallen in love with the taste."

Yvonne's heart dropped and instantly beat nonstop.

"Did you want to try these dishes because I like them? You ordered these for me, right?"

Yvonne felt that that should be the case.

Zachary placed some food on her plate before he replied, "When I lost you, I was afraid that I'llforget you. So I tried my best to adapt to your habits. Only by this way, to adapt, to remember, to fallin love with these dishes, I can keep you in my heart forever."

He had actually said that. He said every word so calmly.

Why was he like this?

Yvonne's eyes turned red.

This man had remembered the food she liked. He did it for the sake of remembrance, for the sakeof his memories, and for the sake of being closer to her.

He couldn't find her, so he made up for it with taste.

How foolish of him.

Yvonne felt herself losing control of her feelings, but still she took a deep breath and lowered herhead. Her voice was slightly hoarse as she said, "Zachary, you must have suffered a lot in the pastfew years."

"Not as much as you have." Zachary's faint words made Yvonne pause.

She looked up at him.

He then continued, "I've only taken care of Maria for over a year. My mother has told me manytimes that you would have faced many hardships raising a child alone. I've also come to realize thatnow."

It wasn't just hard mentally but also financially.novelbin

Yvonne pursed her lips tightly and shook her head.

"It wasn't that hard."

Zachary did not speak any further.

He understood her hardships after he had talked to Fabian.

It turned out that she had her own difficulties.

He did not go through those hardships with her, nor did he notice. It was his responsibility as a man.

A responsible man should not blame the woman who had left blindly and should reflect on themistakes he had made.

As for him, he had never discovered his problems and continued to blame Yvonne. That wasirresponsible of him.

"Let's eat." Zachary picked up some food for her.

Yvonne nodded; she took her spoon and ate quietly.

Zachary followed suit.

The both of them fell silent.

After a while, Zachary said, "Yvonne, let's go to Southland tomorrow morning."

Yvonne was stunned. "Southland?"

"Yeah."

"Why?" Yvonne didn't seem to want to return to Southland.

"Let's go back and visit your family," Zachary answered. "I should start taking up my responsibilitiesnow."

Yvonne was confused.

Zachary was going to take responsibility?

What responsibility?

"I'm going to tell everyone that Maria is my child, and you're my wife."
