Chapter 1199

In the dungeon.

The two men in lab coats had arrived at the cell Joanne and Renee were in. “Joanne, come

out!” The guard knocked on the iron bars and ordered icily.

In the dark, Joanne smiled sadly and said to Renee, “Finally, my time has come.”

Renee had been feeling drowsy, but now, she was fully awake. “What is it? Where are you

going?”

“I will be reborn again.’

“Reborn?” Renee asked slowly. “Has that old man suddenly grown a conscience? Does he

want to let you go?”

“Yeah, he wants to let me go.” Joanna’s smile became even sadder. She reached out and

embraced Renee as she whispered, “Miss Everheart, I’m glad I got to know you. If you get

the chance, please say sorry to Mr. Hunt for me.’

Renee rolled her eyes and scoffed, “He lied to you and fooled you, but you want to

apologise to him?”

“Yes, I’ve wronged him deeply. Many things aren’t as they seem… I’m leaving.’ Joanne let

Renee go hesitantly, then went out under the urging of the guard.

Renee was still rooted to the spot as she thought about what Joanne had said. Suddenly, it

dawned on her. ‘Didn’t Joanne tell me that she wants to meet Stefan again before leaving?

Why did she ask me to pass on the message? Could it be that… Benjamin didn’t let her go?

Damn it, Renee, why are you so dumb?!’

Helplessness engulfed her, and Renee immediately stood up and ran towards the exit of the

cell. She then smacked the large iron door and screamed, “Let me out! What did you do to

Joanne? Let me go!”

The guard could not take the noise, so he warned her through the palmsized hole in thenovelbin

door. “Be quiet. If you keep screaming, I’ll be forced to use poisonous gas on you.”

“Where did you take Joanne? Let me go! I can give you a lot of money if you let me go…”

“Calm down, it’ll soon be your turn. You’ll know where they take Joanne later.”

“Let me go, okay? I have a lot of money, so I can give you as much as you want. After all,

this is just a job.” Renee tried to bargain with him.

“Just give up. We’ll be doomed if we dare to take others’ money after becoming the master’s

subordinates.’

Benjamin’s cruelty was extended to everyone in the fort. He ruled over all of them like a

dictator, and no one dared to disobey him.

Just when Renee was losing hope, Amber successfully barged in with Liam.

“Let her go.” Amber ordered the guard.

“Miss Jenkins, I’m sorry. We can’t casually let anyone in the dungeon go without the

master’s order.’ The guard was respectful but firm.

“The pass is the order. If you don’t let her go, I’ll ask my dad to punish you both.”

“Miss Jenkins, we can’t do that. Please don’t make things difficult for us. We…” Before the

guard could finish talking, Liam suddenly kicked him.

After that, Liam snatched the weapon from the guard as well as the key. He stated coldly,

“You should know that the secret rule of this fort is to act first and talk later.”

“Liam, you’re resourceful.” Amber swallowed slightly before she put away the pass.

Liam grabbed the key and quickly opened the large door of the cell. “Boss, are you okay?”
