Chapter 689

The top of Mistral Mountain was incredibly high, and it offered a breathtaking view of the sunset. The

setting sun's rays bathed Madelyn in a warm glow. A bodyguard received a call from Zach and

approached her. "Ms. Jent, Mr. Jardin would like to speak with you."

Madelyn took over the phone and asked, "Is something wrong?"

"Get home soon. Don't let me worry about you. It's dangerous when you go down the mountain, so

behave and take the cable car, okay?" Zach demanded.

Yvonne's voice came not long after, "Zach, I've changed into another gown. Let's take another set of

photos."

Madelyn hung the phone up and passed it to the bodyguard. She then said, "Let's go back."

The bodyguard pointed out to Madelyn, "Ms. Jent, the cable car is this way."

Madelyn didn't reply, just kept on walking. By the time she reached the mountain's base, the sky had

darkened. The path ahead was barely visible, and her accompanying bodyguards, filled with

trepidation, had their flashlights beaming to light the way for her.

"Ms. Jent, you should rest a little. Mr. Jardin is already on his way. It would be unsafe for you to

continue on," One of the bodyguards suggested.

Just as he finished speaking, they saw Zach and a group of people walking over with bright flashlights.

Zach wordlessly approached Madelyn and draped his suit jacket over her shoulders. With a stern tone,

he cautioned, "If you pull a stunt like this again, you'll be grounded."

Madelyn hadn't anticipated his sudden appearance, thinking, 'He should be with Yvonne at this

moment.'

As soon as Zach touched her, he could sense her shivering from the cold. Without hesitation, he lifted

her in a bridal carry and began their descent. What was initially a two-hour journey downhill now

stretched just a little over an hour.

As soon as the car doors opened, Madelyn saw that Yvonne was there too.

When Yvonne saw Madelyn, she immediately poured her a cup of hot coffee. She comforted Madelyn,

"Warm yourself up. Walking down a mountain in such cold weather is dangerous. Zach and I were so

worried for you."

Madelyn sat next to Yvonne. She held the cup of hot coffee while staring at the steam from the

blankets. She replied, "It won't happen again."

Yvonne looked at Madelyn's clothes, and a hint of displeasure flashed. However, she did not show it.

Yvonne hugged Madelyn and rubbed her body while she continued to comfort her, "The heater is on,novelbin

so it will be warm very soon."

As the vehicle moved, Madelyn kept silent. Yvonne tried to start a conversation, "What did you pray for

today?"

Madelyn did not respond. After a while, she suddenly asked, "Is he still okay?"

Her sentence caused Yvonne to be stunned for a moment. She could not see Zach's expression but

could feel the chilly aura emanating from him. If a man were to show any emotion when a woman

speaks of another man, it was a sign of jealousy. Yvonne pursed her lips as she did not know what to

say.

On the other hand, Madelyn did not care what the others thought. She just spoke of whatever came to

her mind. Madelyn continued, "I came back here once three years ago. Ethan was met with an

accident when he came to France to look for me. Is he better now?"

Had the cup in her hand been paper, Madelyn would have spilled the water. She rubbed the cup while

speaking with her head lowered, "I'm sorry about his accident."

The reason she came back to Venturia was because of Ethan. It was also Kennedy who told her about

Ethan's accident. She had returned to this spot due to the guilt in her heart.

At the same time, she saw the date for Ethan and Donna's wedding and assumed he was fine. Hence,

she had gone to the Mistral Monastery to seek consolation.

Yvonne stuttered when she saw Zach's grim expression. She chuckled before saying, "I-It's fine. What

happened to Ethan has nothing to do with you."
