Chapter 1081

Chapter 1081

The bodyguards responded, “Okay, Mrs. Jardin.”

In the master bedroom, Madelyn sat holding Dalton. Margaret walked back and forth anxiously, “Oh

my

gosh, I was scared to death.”

Madelyn asked, “What happened to you? Who did you see? Why are you so frightened?”

Margaret explained, “Ms. Jent, you have no idea! I followed your instruction to hide in Mr. Jent’s study

as soon as something went wrong. I did that when it blacked out. Just now, I heard footsteps going

downstairs. I thought it might be you, so I walked out of the study. When I approached and patted that

person’s shoulder, she turned around. My goodness, her face was simply unbearable to look at; all

burned,

features twisted. She looked like a monster!

“She was even holding a knife. If it weren’t for the power to come back so quickly, she might’ve

attacked

us.”

Madelyn thought, ‘It turns out that someone really wanted to kill me! I’ve always felt that someone was

watching me closely from behind recently. So, it wasn’t an illusion.

‘Who could that person be?!’

In the dark, someone had a camera capable of monitoring activities from a distance without being

easily novelbin

noticed. At the six-star hotel, Cecilia was holding a glass of red wine and sitting on the sofa with her

legs

crossed as she watched the surveillance footage on the television. She was wearing only a bathrobe.

She said, “Yvonne is so useless. That was such a good opportunity, yet she still couldn’t get rid of

Madelyn!”

At the same time, a man’s voice came from the television, “Ms. Samford, she had already entered the

car

and left. Should we follow her?”

Cecilia elegantly sipped her red wine, “It’s fine. You should leave too. He’s about to come back. If you

don’t leave now, you won’t be able to leave later.”

“Got it.” Then, the television screen went black.

Cecilia’s mood was quite good. She was great at letting others do the dirty work to achieve her goals.

In

the past, Madelyn was not her match. Now, Yvonne was merely a pawn to Cecilia, a person she could

easily manipulate at her will./

Cecilia looked at the phone on the tea table, which lit up. She opened the message that contained

three

words: [The deal failed.]

Cecilia said, “It’s fine! Zach, we have plenty of time ahead. I believe you’ll join us soon. Then, I’ll have

some leverage over you.”

Even though she understood Zach very well, she was also well aware that he still held considerable

influence and connections in the underworld.

He did not leave any evidence of his past deeds; Cecilia could not trace what Zach did.

She believed that she could only have some leverage over Zach if he started doing something illegal

again. Only then could she manipulate him at will.

Zach returned home quickly. He tightly frowned when he saw the smoky flower room. He got out of the

car and walked swiftly into the villa.

He went upstairs and found that Madelyn was safe. He then hugged her and Dalton tightly.

Madelyn felt uncomfortable. She looked up and said, “Zach, I can hardly breathe.”

After she told him about the whole incident, he still refused to tell her who that person was.

Madelyn furiously grabbed his pillow and threw it out the door, “You’ll sleep in the guest room tonight. I

don’t want to see you at all.”

Zach walked out, picked up the pillow from the ground, and patted it, “Madelyn… There won’t be a

next

time.”

Madelyn slammed the door shut, “Get lost!”

Zach took the pillow and went to the adjacent study. His gentle gaze turned cold instantly. He stood in

front of the floor-to-ceiling window and stared at the pitch-dark night as he dialed a number on his

phone,

“Find Yvonne and bring her to me.”

“Yes, Mr. Jardin.”

He then put his phone back in his pocket, ‘Is this what you want? I’d like to see how many tricks you

still

have left.’
