Chapter 951

“Anyone who ends up in Ventropolis Prison can never come out alive. You’d better think carefullybefore deciding what you want to do. I’m the only person who can bring someone back alive from hishands.”

Madelyn knew how dreadful of a place the Ventropolis Prison was. It was a prison for death rowinmates, and those taken there would usually end up either dead or severely injured. Even an innocentperson who ended up there would return to be an incomplete corpse. Zach sat in his seat, and themaid had already set up two pairs of utensils.

Madelyn took a deep breath. She tried her best to suppress her emotions as she pressed herfingernails deep into her palms.

In the end, she gave in.

Madelyn only took a few bites of her food and did not touch the dishes Zach had served her at all.

Before they realized it, it was already past midnight.

When Zach finished eating, the dishes on the table were already cold.

As Zach set down his fork and knife, Madelyn said nonchalantly, “I hope you’ll keep your promise andlet Mya return home safely. In the future, I’ll stay here and not go anywhere else. But please, don’tforce me to do things I don’t want to do.

“I don’t want to be Mrs. Jardin, and I won’t marry you. Lastly, whoever you choose to marry hasabsolutely nothing to do with me.”

Her brief moment of freedom ended when Zach brought her back, and now she felt like a soulless shellagain.

On the hallway of the third floor, Dalton was still crying. Madelyn walked past him like a lifeless zombieas if she could not hear him at all.

Madelyn went back to the mast bedroom and found out the ring was back on the bedside table. Afterwashing up, a sudden wave of fatigue hit her, and she quickly fell asleep on the bed.

In the quiet study, Zach took out a stack of money from the drawer and placed it on the table. With acigarette in his hand, he said, “This is what you

deserve.”

Margaret looked at the money but did not step forward to take it. Instead, she spoke with a hint ofworry, “Mr. Jardin, Ms. Jent didn’t sound like she was lying earlier. And also, made a mistake in thismatter. No matter what, you shouldn’t have brought another woman back and let her stay overnight.Even if other people believe that nothing had happened between you and the woman, Ms. Jent alreadyhad a bad impression of you. How could you ignore her feelings and do something that hurt her somuch?

“To be honest, I can feel that Ms. Jent has already accepted you, but with what you said to her, sigh… Ihave no idea what to do now. I don’t think I should take this money…”

Zach asked, “So, what do you suggest me do?”

Margaret shook her head. “I really don’t know.”

Zach wanted Margaret to come up with something to make Madelyn stay.

“Ms. Jent is still upset. You should let her vent her anger on you. If she ever hits you, you must not hurther…”

Indeed, Zach did not hurt her!novelbin

There was that fresh wound on his neck, but the black shirt he was wearing hid his wound well, but thesmell of blood on him was strong.

Margaret had initially agreed to help Zach because of the money, but the thought of betraying Madelynfelt unrighteous. Besides, Madelyn was suffering enough and had no one else to support her.

She figured that if she had betrayed Madelyn, she would regret her decisions later on.

When Rosario had been admitted to the hospital, she had entrusted Margaret to take good care ofMadelyn, so it would not be right for her to turn her back on Madelyn.

However, Zach still gave her the money, a whole ten thousand dollars. Zach had always beengenerous when it came to money.

That night, Zach smoked in the study for the entire night.

The whole study reeked of cigarette smoke, and the wound on his neck remained untreated. By thetime he finished smoking his last cigarette, the blood had already coagulated.

In the master bedroom, Madelyn turned on the bedside lamp. There was a slight movement outside thedoor before it was opened. Madelyn, who was barely awake on the bed, felt an itchy sensation on herface. Then, she caught a whiff of a foul smell of cigarette.

She turned her head and saw a figure beside the bed. Madelyn’s daze instantly cleared as shepropped herself up on the bed, avoiding his touch. “Don’t touch me!” Her eyes were filled withundisguised disgust.

Zach remained silent.

Madelyn acted like he was the person she hated the most.

She lifted the blanket and got out of bed.

When Madelyn had gone into the room earlier, she had deliberately changed both the bed sheet andcover.

She thought about the time she had spent there with Zach and felt nauseous.

Zach said, “Madelyn… nothing happened between me and Cecilia.”

Although Zach tried to explain himself, Madelyn did not stop walking. She was not even bothered tolook at the wound on his neck.

Madelyn just wanted to stay away from him, so she went to Dalton’s room to sleep for the night. Zachdid not stop her

Madelyn locked the door from inside and barricaded the door with some furniture.

She just could not bring herself to believe in anything Zach said.

The next morning, Madelyn went downstairs right after waking up. “Where’s Zach?” she askedMargaret.

“Hasn’t Mr. Jardin been upstairs all this time?” Margaret said.

Madelyn went back upstairs and knocked on the door. After not getting any response, opened the doorand walked in. She glanced inside and found Zach sleeping on the bed in his

she

outfit from yesterday.

“You said that you’d let Mya go home yesterday. Are you not going to fulfill your promise?”

Zach showed no reaction.

Madelyn found it strange as she walked over. “Zach Jardin? I’m talking to you
