Chapter 887

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 887

Mya kept her head down and didn’t dare to speak again. Fred put the money on her lap and said, “Thisis what I owe you. I don’t like owing people.”

“I’ll take it, just please don’t hurt me,” Mya replied, feeling flustered, and she quickly stuffed the moneyinto her bag.

Suddenly, a memory flashed in her mind, and a voice echoed, “Since you like eating so much, finishthis spoiled meal. If not, I’ll keep you locked up here like a dog. If you disobey, I’ll have someone beatyou to death.”

A buried memory rushed back, giving Mya a sharp pain in her head. For the rest of the car ride, Myastayed quiet and timid.

Fred noticed Mya’s change in behavior and gradually lost interest as the car became quiet. He ordered,“Stop the car ”

When the car halted, Fred, growing impatient, lit a cigar. “Get out and grab a cab home.”

With a brief command, the car doors unlocked, and Mya, shaking a bit, quickly got out. Before she left,Fred’s keen eyes spotted the money, untouched on the car seat.

Mya dashed into The Deli, her fleeing figure looking desperate, like she was being chased by a beast. As she hurried, her hair bun came undone, and a pearl hairpin fell, later picked up by a passerby andtossed into a nearby trash can.

All Mya knew was that she had escaped from the jaws of danger. As she walked into The Deli, theamazing smell of food immediately caught her attention, making her forget all about what hadhappened earlier.

‘There’s still plenty of time to get home before it gets dark,’ Mya reassured herself.

After ordering more than thirty dollars’ worth of food and keeping just over ten dollars for the cab farehome, Mya found a cozy corner, sipping on her lemon tea. What Mya didn’t realize was that the blackcar parked on the street near The Deli hadn’t left. Fred was still in the car, his leg propped up, tappinghis finger thoughtfully, his gaze dark and deep, watching the carefree Mya nearby.

Dining alone, Mya quickly devoured her meal once it arrived, earning disapproving looks from fancyladies at a nearby table. They snickered, saying, “Look at her, she’s eating like there’s no tomorrow.”

“Who knows where this bumpkin came from, never seen the world.”

Hearing their remarks, Mya slowed down and lowered her head. “Wow, look at this pig. She evenunderstands human language. Just like my pet dog, plump and cute.”

One of the ladies, with bangs framing her doll-like face, chuckled, “But not as obedient as my Belle. Atleast a dog knows to keep up appearances when outside.”

With that, the three other women at the same table who had held back their laughter laughed out loud.

Mya kept her head so low while eating that it almost touched her food, choosing not to respond to theteasing.

“Hey, considering your size, you sure three dishes are enough for you?” one of them joked. Anotherperson joined in, “Want us to share our leftovers with you?”novelbin

But little did they know, Fred saw everything. He was good at understanding what people said just bywatching their lips. So, every word they said was as clear to him as if they shouted it. He thought Myawould react, but surprisingly, she stayed quiet and didn’t stand up for herself.

After that, one of them called the server. The server came up and asked, ‘ Hi, how can I help youtoday?’

The lady requested, “Can you ask that girl to leave? She’s spoiling our appetite.”
