Chapter 741

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 741

A bodyguard approached. “The demolition crew called. They said they’ll be here in an hour and a half.”

Zach replied, “No rush.”

Marta’s legs felt numb, and she pointed a trembling finger at Zach. “Mrs. Arnold Sr. died because ofyou!” she exclaimed. “You’re a monster! You’ll pay for this!”

Zach smirked, a hint of menace in his eyes. “I should be thanking you. If not for you giving the deed toFrida, its whereabouts would’ve remained a mystery. You were instrumental in my success.’

His words stung. Evelyn’s death was caused by extreme stress and anger. Marta had gone to greatlengths to safeguard the Arnold residence. ‘He’s right. It’s my fault.’ Marta had devoted decades of herlife to Evelyn, loving her as family. Now, the heavy burden of her role in Evelyn’s death and the barrageof emotions-guilt, pain, regret – were too much.

“I might be doomed, but so are you!” Marta’s eyes blazed as she pulled out a kitchen knife and lungedat Zach, yelling, “Die, you demon!”

She did not make it far. The bodyguard was quick, stopping her before she could get to Zach. As hestood tall over her, a flash of lightning lit the night, throwing his shadow dramatically. He stared downcoldly. “Take her and the casket to the Young residence.”

The bodyguard replied, “Yes, sir!”

Dozens of people had searched the mansion, stacking items into a heap and dousing them withgasoline. Zach picked up a white sheet of art paper from the ground. It depicted a well- kept portrait ofEthan, signed by Madelyn’ at the bottom. Zach’s expression remained unreadable. He ignited the

paper with his lighter and let it fall. In no time, the paper was engulfed by the flames, their intensityreflected in Zach’s eyes.

Not long after, the demolition crew arrived, ready to demolish and rebuild the mansion according toorders.

The loud thunder had jolted Madelyn awake. She was soaked in sweat, while Dalton wailed beside her.Feeling the cold spot next to her, she realized Zach must have left after she had fallen asleep. A glanceat the clock on the wall revealed it was just past midnight..

Dalton always cried during thunderstorms, making it hard for Madelyn to calm her down. The thunder’sroar brought back vivid memories for Madelyn. It was eerily reminiscent of the stormy night when sheunderwent a surgical abortion, and the baby was taken from her womb.

Madelyn flicked on the light and gently lifted Dalton. “It’s okay, don’t cry.” Trying to stay calm, she felt awave of anxiety. Looking for somewhere quieter, she made her way to her father’s study on the secondfloor.

As she stepped into the study, she recalled what Kai had told her about a hidden chamber containingher mother’s secrets. He had said there was a switch under the desk that revealed it.

With curiosity taking over and the whimpering child momentarily forgotten, she bent down to inspect.Feeling under the desk, her fingers quickly found a slightly elevated button, unusual and easy to miss ifone was not looking for it.novelbin
