The woman, who appeared to be in her forties or fifties, said anxiously, “Oh my! Sir, Madam, I’m reallyinnocent in this matter. Look. How could I give birth at this age? This child isn’t mine. I found him in thetrash today. I had no choice but to leave him at the entrance of the orphanage.”
Madelyn asked, “Can’t you trace where this child came from?”
The police officer said, “We reviewed the surveillance footage along the way, but we couldn’t find theperson who abandoned the child. Several cameras on Chapel Street were broken, and the cameras atcrucial locations didn’t record anything. It’s going to be very difficult to trace the person. So…”
