A group of bodyguards dressed in black barged into their apartment as Lila screamed. Madelyn heardthe commotion from her room and immediately locked the door.
Then, she pushed the wardrobe and table to barricade the door, Intending to stop those people fromentering.

The bodyguards warned her from outside, “Ms. Jent, things won’t end well If you keep resisting.”

Madelyn knew that she was scared. She did not want to go back, but she did not know what else shecould do either. She had left for so many years, so she could not figure out how Zach had managed tofind her again or what he wanted from her.

It was nine o’clock when Zach’s meeting ended.
When he was about to return to the hotel, he received a call from the police station.
