Chapter 598

Chapter 598

“Even if you don’t forgive me, I want to be by your side. I hope to see you get married to someonewho’s good for you, so even if I die, I die in peace… I’ll go heat up your cream soup so it’s ready whenyou wake up.”

The quiet room was interrupted by the sound of a closing door. Madelyn opened her eyes. She hadbeen awake since Zach left.

Madelyn stared blankly at the ceiling. This was the first time she heard about Hayson’s wrongdoingsfrom someone else.

She always knew Hayson wasn’t a good person, but no one ever told her exactly what he had doneover the years.

Even if she did nothing wrong, as a member of the Jent family, those victims would seek revenge onher.

She had to bear all this just because she was Hayson’s daughter. She didn’t even have the right toblame others.

But that doesn’t mean she could forgive everything Rosario had done and act like it never happened.

Rosario finished warming the cream soup and was about to bring it to the room. Seeing the light on,she paused at the door, just watching Madelyn for a moment.

Then, she turned and asked another servant to take the soup in.

“Ms. Jent… You’ve been sick all day. Eat something.”

“Give it to me.”

After seeing Madelyn finish the soup, the servant took the empty bowl and left the room.

Rosario, content, went back to her room.

Madelyn thought all night but couldn’t make sense of everything.

She quietly packed her things, and by early morning, she went to the hospital where Hayson was.

Seeing Madelyn, the bodyguard quickly said, “Miss Jent, Mr. Arnold was worried when you didn’tanswer his call.”

Madelyn nodded softly and went into the hospital room. She asked the nurse to leave, so she wasalone with Hayson.

Madelyn looked at her hands, searching for words. She wanted to say something important. After awhile, she finally said. “I came to tell you I’m calling off my engagement with Ethan… Donna and hehave a child now. We can’t be together. I’m planning to leave Ventropolis and might never return.Dad… even If you never treat me as your daughter… I’m sorry. I just want a simple life. I don’t wantany more conflicts or to be used for political marriages.”

As Madelyn was about to leave, the bodyguard handed her a phone, “Mr. Arnold wants to talk to you.”

She took the phone.

Ethan said, “Why didn’t you call me back last night? Do you know how worried I was?”

Madelyn bit her lip, looking at the brightening sky outside, “Ethan… let’s talk.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

Ethan, looking at his child connected to IV drips, rubbed his forehead and replied, “Okay, I’ll come toyou.”

Madelyn said, “No, I’ll come to you. It’ll be easier.”

Ethan’s heart felt heavy, and with a deep voice, he responded, “Alright.”
