Chapter 561

Madelyn often had trouble sleeping in a new or unfamiliar bed. She did not sleep well that night,

drifting in and out of consciousness.

Madelyn had just gotten out of bed after the wake up call for the room came. Then, she noticed thatJane had already freshened up and done her hair in front of the vanity mirror at some point Madelynsat on the bed with dark circles under her eyes and seemed not well–rested.

Jane looked at her through the mirror, reminding her, “Don’t forget your registration at the Paris ArtAcademy today. Do you know which class you’re in?”

Madelyn rubbed her temples wearily and weakly replied, “I know.”

“Good. I won’t accompany you there. You can call me later if you can’t find your way.”

Madelyn answered, “Okay.”

Jane had specially put on makeup to cover the freckles on her face and wore black–framed glassestoday. Looking at the room key on the table, she hesitated briefly but took it. Then, Jane picked up herbag and left. When she reached the room’s door, Dorian and Clement happened to

Dorian asked, “Where’s Madelyn?”

Jane adjusted her glasses and said, “She just got up. We won’t wait for her. Let’s meet Prof. Monetdirectly. She can handle herself.”

Clement ran his fingers through his hair, took a deep breath, and said, “Isn’t this a bad idea? Prof.Monet specifically reminded us to ensure her safe arrival at the Academy. If we leave her alone, shecould get lost. How would you explain that to Prof. Monet? Don’t forget, she’s Mrs. Arnold. The Arnoldfamily is funding our trip to Paris this time. If we neglect her and she complains, we will definitely getscolded.”

Jane looked at him expressionlessly. “If you want to accompany her, you can go yourself. I don’t havethe time for that. We’re here to participate in the competition, not to flatter a rich girl. Don’t forgetProfessor Monet’s expectations of us.”

The two of them watched Jane as she walked away. Dorian patted Clement on the shoulder with asmile. “Actually, Jane is right. Even if you try to be a sycophant, she won’t be interested in you. She’salready taken. It’s better not to waste your efforts on such things. Instead, think about winning thecompetition this time. If you’re concerned about her, you can wait for her here. I’ll have breakfast withJane now.”

Dorian dashed off after finishing. Clement was in a dilemma. He glanced at his watch and then at theclosed door. After a moment’s hesitation, he approached and knocked on the door.

Madelyn had just finished washing up and dressing when she went to open the door, “Clement.”

Clement asked, “Madelyn, are you ready? Jane doesn’t have time to take you to the Academy, so I’ll

accompany you to complete your enrollment procedures.”

Madelyn nodded. “I’ll be ready in ten minutes. Please come in.”

In June, the average temperature in France was around 20 degrees Celsius. So, Madelyn wore a light–colored cotton and linen long–sleeved shirt with a thin, long skirt. She had her hair down and brought aknitted cardigan in case it got chilly at night.

As they rode the elevator down, Clement said, “We might not have time for breakfast, so we’ll grabsomething on the way.”

“What about Jane and Dorian?”

“They probably went straight to the studio after breakfast.”

“Okay.” Madelyn was not a person who liked to trouble others.

Clement was somewhat reserved and deliberately maintained a safe distance from Madelyn in theelevator. When they reached the hotel’s entrance, Jane and Dorian had just finished eating anddescending in the elevator. They saw Madelyn and Clement getting into a long–wheelbase Bugatti. Thehotel’s doorman closed the car door, and the car left when they walked out.

Dorian exclaimed, “Wow, such a luxurious car! I haven’t even sat in one of those before. This guy reallylucked out.”

Shielding his eyes from the sunlight, he continued, “Jane, how are we going to get there? I asked, andthe destination was about twenty to thirty kilometers away from us.”

It was a little far.
