Chapter 434

Chapter 434

Madelyn did not return to the Jent residence. Instead, she went to the unit she rented. As she took outthe key to open the door, a grassy and earthy fragrance wafted through the air. Madelyn walked in andsaw that the plants on the balcony were in bloom. The house was clean, with only a uniform that wasobviously not hers lying on the blue sofa.

It reminded Madelyn of Forrest. She walked over and held the uniform. She wondered how he wasdoing and started to reminisce about the past. This house was filled with memories of her and Forrest, memories of him cooking in the kitchen and doing homework on the dining table. When he wasexhausted, he would lie on the sofa and sleep until the first afternoon class started.

In the blink of an eye, a week had passed. During this period, her phone was off. She never left theroom, so she was clueless about whatever happened outside. She shut herself in that tiny house, sitting cross-legged on the floor. She numbed herself by drawing. Sometimes, she would even draw fora whole day and night. When she was tired, she slept. When she was hungry, she would eat whatevershe could find. She did not touch any of her study material.novelbin

As her hand touched the glass cups, she noticed the water inside was finished. Madelyn got up withthe help of the sofa. She scratched her head, which had not been washed for a few days. She was amess and had never been this disheveled before.

She poured another glass of water and remembered she needed to eat her medication. She hadfinished most of her antidepressants and wondered how long it would take to get better…

‘Does this count as me giving up on myself? Madelyn wondered.

Bang, bang, bang! The sound of knocking came.

Before Madelyn could consume her tablet, she left to open the door. When she saw the person whohad arrived, the white tablet in her hand fell to the floor. She noticed that she had lost her composureand quickly regained her senses. She picked up the tablet from the floor and wiped it on her paint-riddled clothes before swallowing it with water.

Zach walked into the house and closed the door. The dimly lit room immediately darkened as the blindswere closed, and the lights were not on. The house was messy and the basin was filled with uncleanedplates. He never expected the usually clean and tidy Madelyn to be so sloppy. He had never seen herlike this before.

Madelyn did not say anything and continued to sit down. She picked up the pen and then proceeded tosketch and draw.

“I got a call from the school. You haven’t been to school for over a week,” Zach said, “Explain yourself.”

Madelyn said coldly. “There’s nothing to explain. ”

“You don’t want to study?” Zach asked

“I’ve already applied to drop out,” Madelyn answered.

Zach saw her dispirited silhouette and said, “This doesn’t seem like something you would say. DoesFather know about this?”

Madelyn replied, “Does it matter if he knows? Didn’t he wish so badly I wouldn’t continue studying? Ialso understand now that studying won’t do anything for me I’ll just do whatever I want instead ”

Zach felt frustrated. This was the result that he had wanted, and his goal had been achieved. However,he could not help but pity Madelyn for giving up on herself

“So that test meant so much to you,” Zach said.

Madelyn froze. Her finger turned white as she suddenly felt a pain in her chest. She said, “There’s nouse talking about the past”
