Chapter 398

“Boring, not interested,” someone said.

Another student chimed in, “If I enter showbiz, my dad would literally flip.”

“Isn’t acting and singing all about entertaining others?” said another student.

Hailey raised an eyebrow and glanced at the director next to her.

The director, hunched and smiling, replied, “I know all of you come from well–off families. I’m just hereto see if any of you are interested. No one’s being forced into anything.”

When he spotted Madelyn sitting by the window, his eyes lit up. “You must be Madelyn Jent?”

Madelyn paused, laying down her pen, looking puzzled. “Sir, do you know my name?”

The director approached her eagerly. “How could I not? Ethan Arnold is backing this new film. If you’reinterested, I can cast you as the female lead. We can even tweak the script to your liking.”

Madelyn declined politely, “I’m sorry, but I’m not into acting. You should find someone else. Excuse me,I need to visit Mr. Newton’s office for help with some math problems.”

The director maintained his pleasant demeanor. “Here’s my business card. If you ever change yourmind about acting, just contact me. I have a variety of scripts, and if you join, you can even pick yourmale lead from any celebrity you like.”

Madelyn smiled politely as she accepted the card and left the classroom with her workbook.

It was true that many people at school used to know about her relationship with Ethan. Now, due to thatmagazine feature, outsiders were looking for her directly. Once one came, others were sure to follow.

Recently, while going to school with Ethan, Madelyn had spotted people wearing masks and carryingcameras, trying to be discreet. She knew they were paparazzi.

Madelyn usually paid little attention to gossip, but she didn’t want to be involved in it. She didn’t wantanyone disrupting her life. She hadn’t even considered using Ethan’s fame and power to heradvantage. She was content with her current situation.

After leaving the classroom, Madelyn headed straight to the school building where her Math Olympiadtraining class was held.

Next to it stood the school’s dance studio, where the echoes of rhythmic music filled the air. It was clearthat someone was deeply engrossed in practicing their dance moves.

Even within the adjacent room, Madelyn could feel the windows vibrating with the beat.

In the hallway, a group of students strolled past. Among them, Timothy noticed Madelyn inside theclassroom and commented, “Isn’t that Madelyn? How does she manage to concentrate on her studiesamidst all this noise? She sure is a dedicated student!”

Kayla and Forrest had become inseparable since joining Class Six. Kayla spent her time practicingdance with her close friends and even formed a team for an upcoming dance competition. They wererehearsing right next door. She was dressed in a striking midriff–baring outfit, topped with a loosejacket that clearly belonged to Forrest.

At that moment, Kennedy and Lem coincidentally crossed paths with them. It was a moment wherehigh–achieving students

and those labeled as troublemakers came face to face.

However, Kennedy paid them no attention and walked straight into the classroom.

Lem appeared surprised when he saw Madelyn, despite saying, “I had a feeling you’d be here!”

Madelyn hadn’t expected them to arrive so early and looked up, asking, “Why are you guys here soearly too?”

Lem glanced at Kennedy, who was quietly seated beside him, and explained, “Our classroom was waytoo noisy, so we decided to come here. But it seems just as loud here.”

Madelyn noticed a few people outside the window, and Timothy waved and greeted her. She nodded inacknowledgment.

Lem turned to Madelyn and asked, “Hey, Madelyn, I’m stuck on a problem here, Can you give me ahand?”

Madelyn glanced at him and shook her head. “I’m stuck too. Why don’t you ask Kennedy? He’s rankedfirst in the whole grade,

Lem put on a pitiful expression. “He won’t help me.”

“But I’m not sure how to solve it either!” Madelyn then turned to Kennedy, inquiring, “Kennedy, haveyou figured out this problem? Could you teach us?”

Kennedy retrieved a workbook from his backpack. “Take a look at this. If you don’t get it, feel free toask.”

Madelyn glanced at Kennedy and then at that workbook. After she took it, she was instantly shockedwhen flipping through it. “Y–You’ve completed all of these? When did you finish them? How did you do

it so fast?”

Lem grumbled, “This freak must have finished them in less than a week after Mr. Newton assignedthem.”

Madelyn wondered to herself, ‘Is this the superpower of a legendary genius? Does he possess somesort of divine blessing?’ In her pursuit of better grades, Madelyn often burned the midnight oil, reviewing Etlinish vocabulary before bedtime, She turned to Lem and asked, “Does Kennedy need atutor?”

“The heck he needs it. He’s always been a freak. I sat next to him for three years, and he’d nap in classevery day, scribble on tests, and somehow end up as the top student in the entire grade.”

“Really?”

“What are you guys discussing? Sounds intriguing. Mind if I join the conversation?” Jadie entered theclassroom, holding a book.

The once lively atmosphere took an abrupt downturn.

Madelyn replied, “We were just talking about our assignments. What brings you here early?”

Jadie settled into a seat beside Madelyn and clarified, “They’re using our classroom for a movie scene.I picked up your backpack. Please check if anything’s missing.”

Madelyn accepted it gratefully and said, “Thanks, Jadie.”

Madelyn was the last to leave, adhering to the usual dismissal time. When she finally departed, it wasalready half past nine.

Today, for some reason, she felt unusually fatigued. Considering the hour–long journey back to theArnold residence, Madelyn decided to spend the night in the apartment she rented.

So, she contacted the driver and told him not to come pick her up today. The driver found it strange butdidn’t say much. She also sent a message to Ethan to inform him, but he didn’t reply. She figured itwould be alright and waited for him to read the

message.

Upon unlocking the door using the key hidden beneath a flowerpot, she discovered that the living roomlights were on.
