Blake quickly came back to her senses. She nervously avoided his gaze as she supported her waist to
stand up, “N-No! I’m too tired today. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come here to slack off. I’ve broughtlunch
today, so I won’t eat with you. Maybe next time.” After that, she quickly ran away as if someone was
chasing her.
She rejected him because she was afraid that the people in the company were gossiping about them.
Blake thought, ‘The incident with Kevin in the corridor last time was widely known. Luckily, it was

She was so hungry that her stomach growled. She wanted to get something to eat.

“That’s right.” Another woman said. As she spoke, she looked at herself in the mirror. She tossed herhair
and said, “I’m not any worse than Blake! Why are these two outstanding men interested in her?!”

Furious, Blake rolled up her sleeves, ready to confront them and demand an explanation. As shewalked
over, she suddenly stopped.
She thought, ‘I’ll just let it go. Wherever I am, everyone dislikes me. Now, the entire secretarialdepartment
avoids me.
‘Even Janice appears fearful when she talks to me.’
Blake pressed the button to go down. When the elevator stopped at her floor and opened, she lifted her
head and found the person she hated standing inside.
Blake paused for a moment.
Susan said, “Hurry up and come in. Don’t waste my time.”
Blake rolled her eyes and disdainfully scoffed, “Tsk.” She put her hands in her pockets, stepped back,and
took the adjacent elevator to go down.
With nothing to do at the company, she ate alone at the company cafeteria. With a tray in his hands,Liam
sat down across from her, “You have no appetite? Is the food not good?”
Blake absentmindedly poked at the food with her fork. She had just ordered mushroom soup fortakeout.
on her phone, planning to have it delivered to Cecilia, who was hospitalized. After some thought, she

Liam asked, “Do you need me to accompany you to the hospital?”
Blake chuckled, “I’m her assistant. It’s my job to do these things. Just now, I noticed there are still manydrafts in your inbox waiting for review, right? You should focus on your work; don’t worry about me.”
Liam responded, “Do you want to leave work together tonight?”
“It depends. I might go straight home after coming back from the hospital.”
“Okay.”
After a while, Blake finally remembered. She quickly said, “I’m sorry! I lied about bringing lunch. I justdon’t
want people to gossip about us. Although we’re friends, there are always people in the company whocan’t

Liam placed his chicken drumstick in her bowl, “It’s fine, I don’t mind.”
