Madelyn silently questioned Margaret’s sudden advocacy for Zach, whom she considered a murderer.
Margaret mentioned the wedding date, “February 14th, how perfect!”
That date drained the color from Madelyn’s face.
‘Why that day?’ Madelyn wondered, haunted by its significance. She no longer wished to hear more, soshe handed her bowl to Margaret.
