His goons promptly leapt up and started to clobber Zeb.

Winter had enough–she disliked Zeb, but she could not stand her friends being bullied for no reasoneither. “Stop it! Why are you doing this?!”
Kait seized her by the wrist right then, his eyes studying her from head to toe. “What I say goes aroundhere, girl. Come drink with me if you want to save him.”

“Just shut up!” Winter snapped at him.
Kait chuckled in turn. “Come on, girl. Your boy has the right idea–and you should know I’m not a patientman.”
