Clarity then slid a note to Frank, and the little piece of paper carried her distinct perfume too.

"Here's the address," she said. "Go there and see for yourself, though it depends on your ability whether you find what you need."

"Why are you helping me?" Frank asked, glaring coldly and skeptical that she had really taken a liking to him.

"Oh, why won't you believe me? I've been in love with you for the longest time," Clarity giggled bewitchingly. "Naturally, I might have favors to ask in the future... So you can consider this my investment, Mr. Lawrence. Think of it as just owing me one."

Frank stayed silent for a while before asking flatly in return, "Are you so sure I'll return the favor?"

"Hehe. You're a man of your word, handsome. I know that better than anyone."

"Hmm. In that case..."

Frank picked up the glass of wine and chugged it. "I'll owe you a favor and return it some other day!"

Clarity watched as he turned to leave, giggling. "Hehe... What a nice man. Be careful, Vicky Turnbull... I can barely stop myself now."

As Frank left Waver Street, Jet and the other Turnbull blackguards rendezvoused with him.

"Do you know where Ms. Turnbull is, Mr. Lawrence?" Jet asked.

"Yeah." Frank nodded and passed Jet the note.

"What's this?" Jet recognized that the address was not far from where they were.

Frank explained, "You will find evidence that the Lionhearts were framing Walter Turnbull there. Comb through it, and you'll find something." Jet frowned. "What about you?"

"I'll save Vicky," Frank said. "She might already be in danger."

"No, Mr. Lawrence." Jet refused, clearly concerned about Frank and volunteering himself instead. "The blackguards and myself will go instead."novelbin

Frank frowned in turn. "What, do you think you're stronger than I am? You have the numbers, so you're better in a search, while I have the advantage of stealth since I'm going alone. That's the ideal arrangement here."

"Why should we listen to you?"

UMS

"Yeah, Glen Turnbull never said we should follow your orders to the letter!"

The other blackguards were quick to voice their discontent toward Frank.

Even if they thought that Frank's reasoning made sense, they simply did not like some nobody telling them what to do.

In the end, they cared more about

the who than the what, since most Turnbulls thought the worst of Frank. Most who were still in the dark even consider him the culprit for the current strained relationship between the Turnbulls and the Lionhearts.

After all, Vicky would have married into the Lionheart family if not for him, and all would have been well.

There certainly would not be any trouble, let alone Walter being taken away by the Martial Alliance.

Naturally, they were all unhappy with Frank, though the man was not concerned at all.

Frowning, he snapped at them

coolly, "You were sent here, so you should be doing the Turnbulls'

bidding as told. I don't care what et

prejudice you hold against me, but my plan is the best in this situation. So unless you have a better plan, shut up and do as you're told!"
