A suggestive smile unfolded across Gilbert’s face.
“Dinner? At a hotel?” The expression onAriel’s pretty face changed drastically. No longer a rookie to the business workplace, she understood the meaning behind Gilbert’s words at once. It was quite likely that Gilbert’s purpose was not to eat!
“It doesn’t seem too appropriate for you and me to have dinner at the hotel, Gilbert. Ithink it’d be better for Miss Young and I to treat you to a meal as a tokenof our appreciation if you’re able to help our company to achieve successful cooperation.” Ariel formed a smile and comforted herself with the belief that he–as her senior back during her student days–invited her to dinner without any other intentions in mind.
“I don’t think you understand what I’m trying to say, Ariel. You knowthat I’ve always liked you, so I’ll just give it to you straight! If you agree to be my woman, I’ll do my best to help you secure the contract!” Gilbert demanded tactfully.
“What? No way! Thanks foryour admiration, Gilbert, but all you are to me is a senior whom I respect. I’m hoping that you won’t cross the line!” Ariel was displeased.
She expected that it might not be a good thing to ask Gilbert for help, but she did not expect thatGilbert would be so shameless as to leverage her request for help to make her his girlfriend!
“You need to have something to offer if you want to secure the contract, Ariel. It’s all a matter of reciprocation these days! I won’t force you if you don’t want to be my girlfriend. I’ll be just as happy if you spend a night with me at a hotel…”
Gilbert could not help but feel a little indignant after being rejected by Ariel yetagain. and felt that there was no point hiding his true colors.
He was incapable of helping Ariel achieve successful cooperation anyway, so it did not matter whether or not Ariel agreed to be his girlfriend. He would be happy enough as long as he could use that opportunity to sleep with her!
“Show some respect, Gilbert!” Ariel’s expression soured and she stood up with a slap on the table.
“Oh, please! Don’t try and act like you’re all high and mighty in front of me! We’re both adults, not ignorant teenagers who are still at school. You ought to know by now that women should make the most oftheir beauty to their advantage. If you miss this chance, you might not have another one anymore! Who knows, you might have had several boyfriends already after stepping foot into the real world…”
Gilbert sneered. Since both sidesalready fell out with each other, he no longer had anything to worry about.novelbin
“You have no shame!” Ariel picked up the coffee on the table in a fit of rage andsplashed it right on Gilbert’s face.
Gilbert was caught off guard, and the coffee spilled all over his face and body.
“How dare you, b*tch!” Gilbert was irked by what happened and gave Ariel a backhand slap on the face.
Ariel was completely taken by surprise. A fragile woman like her was no match for Gilbert. Just as she saswingingcloser to her cheek, a big hand suddenly appeared in front of her and grabbed Gilbert’s wrist tightly.
“Leon!”
Ariel’s mind went blank and she turned around to see Leon. Her heartseemed to skip a beat and she was soon overwhelmed by an indescribable sense of safety.
“Let go ofme!” Gilbert roared. He tried yanking his arm away, but he could not break free from Leon’s restraint. Thof his efforts spurred him to raise his other hand and slap Leon in the face.
“You asked for it!” Leon snorted coldly and gave Gilbert the most violent backhand
slap.
