Chapter 71 Abdominal Pain

"Miss Bowman, don't you agree?" Julia leaned in with a warm smile. "You always have Mr. Stuart'sfavor, so the gift will surely be amazing! Just remember to treat me to dinner when that happens!"

Ranita frowned, not wanting to delve further into the conversation with Julia. Instead, she made anoncommittal sound and headed towards her small office. Unfortunately, Julia followed her.Observing Ranita looking through some materials, Julia kindly asked, "The video conference isabout to start. Are the materials ready? Do you need any assistance?"

"Thank you!" Ranita pondered for a moment before handing Julia a flash drive. "Could you pleaseprint out the information inside? That's all I need."

Julia took the flash drive and left, while Ranita quickly skimmed through the material. She hadn'tturned many pages when Brendon called her on the internal line, requesting her to bring over somedocuments.

It was an order from their boss, one she couldn't refuse even if she wanted to.

Fortunately, Shannon had already left, providing Ranita with some relief. She handed over thedocuments, and only then did Brendon notice that hers was still inside.

"Mr. Stuart... I apologize... my..." Her words were cut off as a sudden pain shot through herstomach!

"Hiss!" Ranita clutched her abdomen, placing one hand on the table, as cold sweat broke out on herforehead and back due to the fear accompanying the sudden pain.

What was happening? Could something be wrong with the baby?

"Ranita? What's wrong?" Brendon was also taken aback, quickly standing up and reaching out hishand towards the visibly pale Ranita.

"I'll take you to the hospital!" At this moment, Brendon no longer cared about the impending videoconference; human life took precedence over everything else!

But Ranita couldn't let him handle such matters! Instead, she grabbed his arm and shook her head, gesturing for him to help her sit down on the sofa.

"Go see a doctor!" Brendon's voice turned cold, his tone unfriendly.

"I'm fine! Let go of me, I can walk on my own!" Ranita pushed Brendon's hand away, slowly makingher way to the couch, suppressing the pain.

Ranita looked dreadful. Her delicate face was pale and creased with worry, and she swayed as ifshe might collapse at any moment.

"Ranita! Why won't you listen to me?" Brendon reached out to grab her again but ended upscooping her up in his arms and gently placing her on the couch.

"What are you doing?"

Ignoring Brendon, Ranita pulled out her phone and tried calling Dylan, but he didn't answer.

Brendon immediately noticed this. Was this woman so averse to his help that she would rather callDylan? Did she truly dislike him that much?

"What's the point of calling Dylan? He's not a doctor!" Brendon exclaimed in frustration. "And do yousee him answering your calls?"

Ranita defended Dylan despite Brendon's sarcastic tone, "He must be busy or something!"

Brendon felt attacked from all sides. He couldn't even mention Dylan without Ranita defending him?She used to defend only him!

Since Dylan wasn't available, Ranita called Steve instead. As soon as Steve heard about Ranita'spain, he said, "Where are you? I'll come pick you up."

"I'm at Stuart's Corp," replied Ranita. She knew the upcoming video conference was important, butright now, nothing mattered more than taking care of their unborn child – even if it meant leavingwork early.

Leaving work early wouldn't bother her anyway!novelbin
