"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Stuart! But I still have work to do, so I'll be leaving now!" Ranita'sfoot was grabbed, and she could only step back with one foot.
Luckily her heels weren't too high, so she could still use some force with one foot.
"Ranita!" Brendon pinched her ankle, adding a few tingles to the swelling pain. Ranita couldn'tmaintain her balance and fell backwards.
Brendon reached out again but his movements were hasty. He ended up pulling Ranita into hisarms and she bumped into his chest.
His shirt smelled of alcohol and the cedar-like fragrance of his body temperature fermenting. It wasboth pungent and alluring at the same time.

Why was Brendon such a bad guy? She had been trying hard to forget about him but he keptcoming back to tease her!
"You're being restless!" Brendon frowned as he held onto her hand. "Did you sprain your ankle? Letme take you to the hospital!"
"I already went to the hospital! I..."
"You've been there already?" Brendon sobered up quickly now that he had regained his ability tothink clearly. His dark eyes looked at Ranita intently. "So Steve brought you here?"
Ranita remained silent for a few seconds before finally admitting it by default with her silence. Ahuge weight lifted off of Brendon's heart when he heard this news. However, he maintained a sternexpression as he spoke, "I'll explain everything to Shannon later on. You can't work like thisanymore so go home and rest!"
He was going to tell Shannon?! That would only add fuel to the fire!
Despite their past relationship as husband and wife, since they had separated, they should haveboundaries between them according to old customs.
"My work here is almost done! And my feet are fine, thanks for asking, Mr. Stuart!" Ranita took astep back without showing any signs of discomfort. "Mr. Stuart, I'll be leaving now."
"Wait!" Brendon called out to the woman, his tone commanding. "You have ten minutes... no, fiveminutes. Explain the situation to Shannon and then come out. I'll be waiting for you at the door!"
"Brendon!" Ranita was furious! How could he expect her to finish everything in just five minutes?And who gave him the right to boss her around?
"So, are you leaving now?" Brendon held her hand, wearing an expression that suggested he mightjust pick her up and carry her if she refused. Ranita was so frustrated she felt like her eyes couldshoot sparks.
How did she not realize that Brendon was so infuriating before?
"Brendon, listen to me! My work isn't finished yet. There's no way I can leave in five minutes!"
"Then come down when you're done. I'll wait for you at the door," Brendon insisted.
"Brendon! If you're drunk and looking for someone, go find Shannon instead! Please don't interferewith my work! I'm leaving now!" Ranita had enough of his nonsense and didn't want him leading her
by the nose anymore.
They didn't need this kind of drama between them.
Meanwhile outside by the fire exit...
A pair of eyes glared fiercely through a crack at Ranita!
Shannon's face twisted with anger as she wished she could slap Ranita right then and there butcouldn't do anything while Brendon was around. She had no choice but to swallow it all up inside.
"Ranita, wait up!" Shannon thought to herself.
Ranita retraced her steps back to the private room. Arthur had finished his meal and noticed thatRanita didn't look too well, so he kindly suggested that she go rest.
This was a huge help for Ranita.
She thanked him and waited until Arthur's group left before officially ending her workday withprofessionalism.
"You worked hard today, Ranita!" Shannon casually handed her a glass of red wine. "I'll drink toyou!"
Ranita was about to decline but saw Shannon inching the glass towards her stomach!
"Huh? Ranita... why do I feel like you've gained weight..." As soon as the words left Shannon'smouth, she balled up her fist and punched at Ranita's belly.
"Shannon! What are you doing?" Afraid of harming the child in her womb, instinctively pushed awayfrom Shannon...
