The warmth of the man's fingers on her wound was gentle. "All set!" Chris chuckled in a low,seductive voice. "It'll do for now, looks cute."
Ranita looked down at Chris and took a moment to react before sheepishly saying, "Thank you."
"No problem," Chris tossed the packaging into the trash can and turned his head to catch a glimpseof the woman's face. He cleared his throat before asking, "I'm sorry about that day. I didn't know youand Brendon..."
"Why so sudden?"
Chris and Steve were both close friends with Brendon, so when Ranita first met them, they weren'texactly friendly towards each other. It wasn't until she helped them out several times that theystarted getting along.
"It's all in the past." Ranita remained calm and clearly didn't want to talk about it any further. Chriswas smart enough not to continue probing and instead said, "Alright then, get back to what youwere doing. If you need anything just let me know."novelbin
Not many people could get such words from Chris.
Ranita was pleasantly surprised by this kindness and said gratefully, "Thanks! Your band-aid isreally useful!"
"I have something else I need to attend to right now," Chris replied as he hurried off.
Ranita rushed back into the break room where things were still lively; she breathed a sigh of reliefas she approached Brendon, "Mr. Stuart... sorry for keeping you waiting!"
"What happened?" Brendon immediately noticed something was off but kept his expressionindifferent; he seemed more serious than concerned.
"Sorry... there was an accident." Ranita wanted nothing more than to expose Holly's misdeeds buthad no evidence – there was no guarantee that Brendon would believe her anyway.
Before she could say anything else, Mrs. Cather had already looked over at them; after sizing upRanita from head-to-toe, she spoke nonchalantly, "Bowman, if you're feeling better, we can continueour walk."
Ranita had no choice but follow along behind her boss once again.
The auction house hired an international designer to create the space, which was highly artistic.The walls and hallways were adorned with carefully selected works of art.
Holly, holding Anna's hand, made a strange suggestion, "Ranita graduated from Kurima ForeignStudies University and is said to be a top student. She must have great appreciation for these worksof art. Maybe Mrs. Cather can exchange some ideas with her."
Being a translator was manageable for someone with a bit of a linguistic talent, but when it came tothese works of art, it was clear that they didn't have as much exposure as the privileged sons anddaughters of wealthy families.
Let's see how embarrassed Ranita will be!
Ranita glanced at Holly calmly and spoke in Italian to Mrs. Cather without any urgency.
Along the way, Holly only saw Mrs. Cather nodding occasionally while talking with Ranita butcouldn't understand anything they were saying.
Holly was getting anxious!
"Hey! What are they talking about?" Holly impatiently approached one of the English translators.
The translator shook his head helplessly, indicating that he couldn't understand either, which earnedhim an eye roll from Holly.
Holly had no choice but to catch up with Anna and secretly ask her, "Anna, what are your motherand Ranita talking about?"
"Oh... they're discussing those works of art. My mother praised her translation skills; she thinksshe's really good! Is she really that bad? I feel like my mother likes her!" Anna shrugged inconfusion.
Upon hearing this, Holly clenched her fists in anger.
Wasn't Mrs. Cather picky? Why did she like Ranita so much? Just because she spoke Italian?
"Holly, maybe you should get to know Ranita more. I think she's very pretty and elegant in speech,"suggested Anna who didn't quite understand why Holly had such negative feelings towards Ranita.
