In the morning light, Brendon opened his eyes.
He saw a figure running towards him and, in confusion, shouted, "Ranita, pour me a glass of water."
The water cup was handed over, followed by Shannon's pure voice, "Brendon, it's me! I'm Shannon,not Ranita!"
"Shannon? Is that you?" Brendon rubbed his temples, wondering if his mind was playing tricks onhim. That night, he thought he saw Ranita, but it turned out to be Shannon sleeping beside him, justlike now.
He heard Ranita's voice and even kissed her, but when he opened his eyes, it was still Shannon infront of him!
"Shannon, have you been here the whole time?"
"Brendon, why are you asking like that? I took care of you all night! Look at my pale face and thedark circles under my eyes!" Shannon pouted in a coquettish manner. "I'm upset! You have topamper me, Brendon!"
"I said the wrong thing!" Brendon pulled out a card, "Buy whatever you want, consider it my way ofapologizing."
Suddenly, Brendon's phone rang.
"Brendon, come and save me! Ranita is hitting me, and I'm being bullied to death!" Holly's voicecame through the phone, sounding like a pig being slaughtered.
Brendon rushed to the scene with Shannon.
Holly immediately turned to her support and complained, "Brother, look at what Ranita did to myface!"
"Hehe! Holly, are you done yet? Do you want to go back to the hospital for another injury check? Ifyou wait a few more minutes, your wound will heal!" Dylan sneered and turned his gaze unkindlytowards Brendon.
"Mr. Webster, what are you talking about! Everyone saw it, Ranita was the one who hit me!" Hollyrefused to back down, but didn't mention that she had started it first.
"Holly, you started the physical altercation yourself. Can't Ranita defend herself? Brendon comeshere and she's justified! If you still have a problem with it, we can involve the authorities!"
Brendon looked at the messy scene and asked with a headache, "Ranita, what's going on?"
"Brendon! Don't listen to Ranita's explanation, she has no shame, she..."
Shannon interrupted her in fear that Holly might spill the beans, "Holly, no matter what, it is wrong toresort to physical violence!"
"Ranita, Holly is straightforward and can be impulsive. Can you please not take it to heart?"Shannon paused, biting her lip, her eyes glistening with a pitiful, doe-like mist. "On behalf of Holly, Iapologize to you! If you still feel unsatisfied, then you can hit me instead!"
"Shannon, this matter has nothing to do with you!" Brendon shielded Shannon behind him andfaced Holly. "Holly, apologize to Ranita!"
"I don't..." Holly found it harder to apologize!
But Holly had always been afraid of Brendon. One look or word from him was enough to make herfeel powerless and unable to resist. After gritting her teeth and saying sorry, she stomped away.
"Brendon, let's go check on Holly. Don't let her anger get the best of her!" Shannon said as shetugged on Brendon's arm. "Come on, let's go!"
Brendon glanced at Ranita and Dylan before leaving with Shannon, his eyes filled with displeasure."Ranita, remember what I said - stay away from Dylan!"
The men disappeared into the distance.
"Ranita!" Dylan exclaimed, rushing to support her as she stumbled and collided with the car door."What happened to you?"
Ranita shook her head wearily and was about to tell Dylan that everything was fine when suddenlyeverything went black before collapsing into his arms...
