Chapter 173 Jealousy

Chapter 173 Jealousy

Silence spread throughout the atmosphere.

A dull pain emanated from Ranita's chest area.

"Ranita... don't be angry with Brendon because of me..." Shannon said weakly.

Ranita interrupted her coldly, "Shannon, I'm talking to Brendon right now. Please don't interrupt."

Being looked at like this by Ranita made Shannon feel even more wronged.

Her eyes turned red while biting her lip as she looked at Brendon accusingly without saying a wordabout being bullied by Ranita silently through tears in her eyes.

This kind of advanced coquetry was what men can't resist most.

Brendon hurriedly comforted her, "Shannon, she didn't mean any harm. Don't be upset." Afterpausing for a moment he reached out his hand and grabbed onto Ranitas' hand, "Let's gosomewhere quiet where we can talk alone."

An empty corner.novelbin

There was only one dim light nearby; Brendon towered over her with his gaze icy-cold.

"Brendon! I didn't do anything that hurt Shannon! You don't have to look at me like that!" The pain inRantia's heart had already become unbearable.

She couldn't help but lose control of herself.

"I never said it was your fault; don't get so worked up," he replied calmly.

Could she not get worked up?

If she had really hurt Shannon then maybe she would feel better now instead of just taking all theblame!

Who wouldn't be angry?

Brendon pursed his lips before finally speaking after some time passed, "We haven't investigatedthis matter thoroughly yet! Whatever comes into Shannon's mind will come out from Shannon'smouth since she's innocent."

Innocent? That was hilarious!

Ranita's lips were sealed tight without saying another word.

"Don't throw a tantrum anymore, Rantia. I'll investigate this matter thoroughly, and won't wronglyaccuse you!" Brenson lowered his voice which finally eased Rantia's discomfort somewhat.

"Today you went to the hospital to have your stitches removed? Let me see," Brendon said, reaching out to play with her hair. He saw the small pink wound and his eyes softened with a hint oftenderness.

Ranita flinched when he touched her and pulled away. "There's nothing to see," she paused beforepushing Brendon away, saying, "You should go back now. Miss Murphy is probably gettingimpatient."

"Just a minute!" Brendon grabbed her back and hugged her from behind. His familiar warmthenveloped Ranita, making the nape of her neck tingle.

"Why did you have dinner with Steve and Chris?" he asked in an unfriendly tone.

"Is that not allowed?" Ranita hesitated before continuing, "You can spend all day with Shannon but Ican't have dinner with my friends?"

Ranita sighed after speaking. "Never mind, I don't mean anything else by it. I was just discussingbusiness with them."

Brendon was happy about this revelation because he had always thought that Ranita couldn'tpossibly like Steve or Chris!

"Ranita..." Brendon didn't finish his sentence as Ranita's phone rang.

She glanced at it briefly before looking stunned and answering in a different voice than usual. "Ineed to take this call."

From the corner of his eye, Brendon saw "Brother" on the screen.

Brother? Where did Ranita get a brother?

Ranita held onto her phone tightly as if she were prepared for something unexpected while lookingnervous yet anxious – like someone meeting an old lover after many years apart.

Slowly but surely she answered the call softly, "Brother..."

Her voice was soft and full of longing while her eyes were gentle – so gentle that they seemedalmost too tender for words.

Brendon had never seen this side of Ranita before but who was this person?

Could it be the man she had been talking about for so long?

Brendon's heart felt sour at the thought...
