Chapter 162 Deliberate

Didn't Ranita care about him at all?

As soon as he left, someone else came knocking on her door in the middle of the night without anyconsideration?

Brendon frowned hard trying hard to restrain himself from rushing out of his car immediately.

Ranita waved goodbye to Steve saying, "Bye Dr. Pearson."

Watching Steve leave, Ranita lifted her foot ready to return the room. When she closed the door, she caught sight of Brendon's car parked nearby.

She furrowed her eyebrows. The car looked familiar like Brendon's, but it was too dark outside, shecouldn't see its license plate number clearly.

Ranita felt like she might have overthought things. Brendon must be busy spending time with someother beautiful woman right now. How could he have time for her?

Brendon saw Ranita looking towards him. He sat upright thinking if Ranita recognized him or not. Ifshe did recognize him then maybe he wouldn't get angry anymore. But, Ranita just glanced at himonce before closing the door.

Brendon suffered from a momentary heart attack. He gritted his teeth and took out his phone callingher. However, the phone rang several times without anyone answering on the other end.

Ranita's leg was hurting, causing her to limp as she walked. Just as she entered the restroom, herphone rang outside. When she went to answer it, the call had already ended.

The caller ID showed Brendon's name.

Ranita pursed her lips and didn't call him back. Instead, she tossed her phone aside and applied ahot pack to her leg before going to sleep.

The internet was still buzzing with activity.

But Ranita didn't bother checking it out. She spent half of the day idling away at the resort afterSteve left early in the morning. She had invited him for lunch at a nearby farm but he returned homesoon after that.

Steve came from a good background and was handsome too. Standing on muddy farmland madeRanita feel like she wasn't sincere enough towards him.

Thankfully, the farm environment was decent and so were their meals. Steve ate heartily which putRanita at ease too.

She stayed for two more days before returning to Kurima where Shannon's discharge from hospitalwas being broadcasted on air with great fanfare. As expected, there were some rumors aboutBrendon floating around too during this time when he called again but Ranita ignored his callsrepeatedly until Caleb took over instead.

Ranita answered Caleb's call by saying ,"Hello?"

"It's me, Ranita!"

She knew it was him but pretended not to know what he wanted.

"What do you want?"

"Why aren't you answering my calls?"

"I didn't hear them," said Ranita nonchalantly while trying not to sound annoyed by Brendon'spersistence.

Brendon sounded low and hoarse with an angry tone in his voice when he asked, "But you couldhear Caleb's calls? Are you doing this on purpose?"

Ranita laughed lightly; knowing that soon enough she would be leaving Kurima altogether includingBrendon behind so there wasn't anything left unsaid between them anymore.

"I am doing this on purpose," replied Ranita in a husky voice due to cramps in her legs which hadbeen bothering her for two days now.

Brendon fell silent for a moment before asking, "Are you mad at me?"

"No," said Ranita because there really wasn't anything worth getting upset over anymore. "I amdriving right now so I will hang up if there is nothing else."novelbin

"Ranita! What happened with Shannon was an accident! I apologize for breaking my promise butthat night I..."

The remainder of Brendon's words were drowned out by the ringing of the incoming call. Ranitaapologized and said, "I'll take another call first." Ranita hung up on Brendon's call and answered theprofessor's call instead.
