Chapter 160 Eyes Red

Shannon asked tentatively.

The phone call earlier had been intended to provoke Ranita, but if Ranita were to report it toBrendon, she didn't know how he would react.

"It's already late; Ranita should be asleep by now." After pausing briefly, he continued, "I calledCaleb just now. I suddenly left the resort, and there was no one to take care of Ranita on her side,so I asked Caleb to go there."

Shannon felt triumphant in her heart. She knew that she was still the most important person inBrendon's heart. Ranita was sure to have a sleepless night tonight! Shannon was in a great mood, and her voice was sweet and coquettish, "Brendon, I'm sorry. I've caused you trouble again!"

"When I'm feeling better, I'll personally apologize to Ranita," Shannon said.

Brendon nodded. "Ranita won't hold it against you."

Brendon knew Ranita's personality well – calm and collected. She wouldn't get upset oversomething so small.

"That's great news! I was worried that Ranita would be angry with me. After all, she's going througha tough time and needs someone by her side," Shannon said empathetically, but her hand was onBrendon's arm. "Thank you for coming to keep me company, Brendon. It means a lot to me."

Brendon comforted Shannon for a bit before leaving.

Ranita couldn't sleep because of the pain in her leg from cramping. It felt like it had gone numb fromthe pain alone as she tossed and turned until finally calling Steve.

"Ranita, why are you calling me so late? Is everything okay?" Steve asked hoarsely.

"Dr. Pearson, sorry to bother you at this hour but my leg is cramping badly... I was wondering ifthere is any way to relieve the pain?"

Cramps weren't anything serious but only those who have experienced them know how painful theycan be.

Steve quickly replied, "Where are you? I'll come take a look."novelbin

"Dr. Pearson, if you could just tell me what to do, then I can handle it myself... I'm at Moon MountainResort which is quite far from Kurima."

Steve could be heard rustling around as he got dressed on his end of the line before saying, "Canyou stand up? If so then try using hot towels first."

"If not, then call one of the resort staff members for help.... Is there anywhere else that doesn't feelgood besides your legs?"

After thinking about it for a moment, Ranita replied, "Nope! Just my legs cramping painfully... I'll tryusing hot towels now though!"

"I'm sorry for bothering you so late," she added apologetically.

"It's no problem at all since I am a doctor after all! Plus today was my night shift and after checkingout rooms earlier today I haven't slept yet," Steve answered back before continuing, "If there'sanything else, don't hesitate to contact me again…you've helped me out several times in the pastwithout giving me an opportunity repay your kindness."

After hanging up with Steve, Ranita leaned against the wall while making her way slowly towardsbathroom where she struggled with twisting hot towels around her cramped calf muscles. Themuscles were throbbing painfully until they were covered by warm heat which made them feel muchbetter almost instantly.

This method really worked!

Ranit repeated this process several times while lying down on sofa feeling drowsy.

The villa room was spacious enough that when Brendon had been present, she hadn't felt itsemptiness. But now that he wasn't here, it seemed quiet and hollow. Her heart felt just as empty too.

After an unknown amount of time, the doorbell rang! Ranita, dazed and confused, went to answer it.Who could be coming to see her at this late hour?

Ranita opened the door and saw a tall man standing before her.

Her eyes inexplicably began to water.
