Ranita felt uneasy.
She feared that she wouldn't have an answer if Brendon questioned her again.
"You..." The door opened, and Dylan's handsome face appeared. His eyes curved into a smile as hegreeted her, "It's me, Rani! Let me in! I'm exhausted!"
"How come you're here?" Her emotions were complicated. After letting out a sigh of relief, she feltdisappointed again. She felt cheap and pathetic.
Ranita kept her eyes downcast, daring not look at Dylan directly.
"Eve is worried about you, and so am I. So we decided to get her that I should come over and keepan eye on you!" Dylan chuckled twice, having a good mood. "Tomorrow, I'll take you to MoonMountain. There's a reservoir up there. The view is quite beautiful."
For peace and solitude, Ranita stayed alone in a detached villa. There were extra rooms availablefor Dylan too.
Ranita avoided Brendon, not wanting to let herself get lost in thought. But who would have thoughtthat she would be thinking about him all night long? She missed his warm embrace and thecomforting feeling of his breath on her skin.
Boulderland Mansion.
Shannon brought a cup of coffee into the study. "Brendon, why aren't you resting yet? You need totake care of yourself even when you're busy with work," Shannon said softly as she leaned over
towards Brendon's side.
"I made this hand-ground coffee for you, Brendon. Try it."
She was wearing a white off-the-shoulder pajama set with delicate straps revealing her slendershoulders. The edges were lined with lace and the pants were short, showing off her long and slimlegs. She even sprayed some perfume on herself to add an extra touch of allure.
The scent wafted over to Brendon, causing him to slightly furrow his brows. Out of the corner of hiseye, he saw one strap on Shannon's shoulder suddenly snap off and part of her white pajamasslipped down.
"Oops... I'm sorry..." Shannon blushed as she looked at Brendon innocently while tugging at hercollar. "I didn't mean for it to break like that..."
Shannon shyly twisted around a few times before accidentally brushing against him again.
"Brendon," the woman's hand rested on his shoulder while misty eyes looked up at himsuggestively.
"Shannon!" Brendon grabbed hold of her hand gently before pushing it away from himself. "It'sgetting late now. Go back and rest."
"Brendon..." Shannon's eyes turned red in an instant as she pitifully gazed up at him like a helplesslittle creature who had been bullied by someone else.novelbin
Brendon softened up slightly but still refused because he simply didn't want anything more than justfriendship between them - nothing beyond that! His feelings towards Shannon could only bedescribed as childhood sweethearts rather than romantic love interests.
"Shannon, there is something I need to tell you..." Before he could finish speaking though,Brendon's phone rang.
He picked up the phone and answered, "Hello."
"Mr Stuart! We found Miss Bowman; she is currently staying at Moon Mountain Resort," Calebpaused briefly before asking, "Do you need me to send you there?"
"No thanks. I'll go myself!" As soon as he finished speaking into the phone, Brendon headed outwithout looking back or saying goodbye.
Shannon watched the taillights of the departing car and stamped her foot in frustration. She hadlowered her pride and actively tried to seduce him, so why was Brendon completely ignoring her?Did Brendon even care about her at all?
Ranita had only managed to fall asleep in the early hours of the morning. Just as dawn broke, herinternal clock woke her up again. She didn't call Dylan, but changed into casual clothes and went fora walk.
The environment of this resort was great. Walking on the road, she can hear the crisp sound ofbirds singing. In the middle, there was an artificial lake. Ranita took a walk in the morning light andwatched as the lake turned golden. She breathed in fresh air and her mood became extremelybeautiful.
In her peripheral vision, she saw a figure walking towards her.
