After returning to the room, Jacob first took off his jacket and pants, then, he threw his phone on thebed.
He decided to set a trap using his phone as the bait. He plucked a strand of hair from his head andplaced it on top of the phone screen, even remembering the position of the hair.
It would be hard for Elaine to notice that there was a strand of hair on the black screen, so the hairwould definitely fall off when she picked the phone up. Then, he would know that she was peeking athis phone.
It didn’t matter if Elaine was observant, she may not be able to remember the specific position of thehair. Once it moved, she would not be able to put it back in the same place. So, he could confirmwhether she had touched his phone by looking at the position of the hair after his bath!

Elaine wasn’t annoyed at all, because she had looked around the bathroom and not seen his phone,which meant he probably didn’t bring it into the bathroom with him!
Therefore, the first thing she did once she came out of the bathroom was to search for Jacob’s phonein their bedroom!
As soon as she entered the bedroom, she saw Jacob’s phone lying on the bed!
Elaine grinned triumphantly!
