Chapter 5192

With a smile, Jacob exclaimed, “Finally, you’ve made up your mind! Let’s go then, my pants are alreadyon!”

After Elaine gave up on her firecracker idea, Wendy quickly rushed to the police station and bailed outChristopher, Harold, and the Lady.

Earlier in the day, while Wendy was attending a meeting at her company, she received news that hermother had been arrested.

She immediately left the meeting and rushed home, but before she could even make it there, shereceived a call from the police station asking her to come and pick up her family members.

So she quickly made her way to the station, completed the necessary formalities, and then picked upher father, brother, and grandmother.

As they drove back home, Wendy was behind the wheel, with the Lady in the passenger seat, whileChristopher and Harold were buckled up in the back.

The Lady was crying and muttering to herself, “The Wilson family is finished… We’re done for.”

Tears welled up in Harold’s eyes as he spoke through gritted teeth, “That wretched Elaine! She’s ruinedour family! Our chance to rise again has been shattered!”

Christopher echoed his sentiment with a cold, hard edge in his voice.

“Once I’m back on my feet, I’m going to destroy her.

If I don’t take revenge, I won’t be able to live with myself.”

Harold immediately chimed in, “Count me in, Dad! I want her dead!”

Wendy abruptly brought the car to a halt on the side of the road and scolded them both, “Enough! Haveyou both forgotten how you ended up paralyzed? How dare you even think of seeking revenge againsther?”

The mood in the car was heavy as the Lady cried and Harold and Christopher expressed their angertowards Elaine.

However, Wendy’s words hit them hard and they realized their hypocrisy.

It was their own vengeful actions that led to their current state of paralysis.

They had attempted to take revenge on Elaine, but Cynthia Wade happened to be there as well andthey ended up with their legs shattered.

As Harold reflected on their past actions, he couldn’t help but express his dissatisfaction, “I can’t let thisgo! Our family could have become billionaires! We could have been worth billions in a few years! ButElaine ruined everything.

How can I ever be reconciled?”

Wendy leaned forward, her expression deadly serious.

“Brother, you need to stop daydreaming.

I warned you from the beginning that Mom’s live stream was a ticking time bomb, waiting to blow up inour faces.

And the longer we wait, the more devastating the explosion will be.”

Harold scoffed, “I don’t see why we should be worried.

There are plenty of people out there selling sob stories and hawking their wares on live streams.

None of them have been arrested.”

Wendy’s eyes blazed with fury, “You’re missing the point, Harold.

Mom is being arrested as we speak.

Do you really want to wait until the cops come knocking on our door for your stupidity?”

Harold’s voice was thick with anger, “Wendy, I can’t believe you hate me this much.

I’m your brother, for God’s sake.”

Wendy’s tone was dissatisfied, “I don’t hate you, Harold.

I’m just tired of your incompetence.

If you can’t get your act together, then I won’t have anything to do with you.”

Her voice rose as she continued, “And if none of us can be successful, then I’m leaving this house, andyou’ll be on your own.”

Christopher interjected quickly, “Calm down, Wendy.

Your brother has been struggling for a while.

It’s not fair to him to expect him to turn his life around overnight.”

Wendy sighed, frustration etched on her face, “Dad, I’ve tried to reason with Mom about this.

Using your illness to make money is wrong, and it’s only going to lead to more trouble.

Remember what happened with Aunt?”

“Mom’s greed ruined her life.novelbin

I don’t want to see the same thing happen to you.

I know my income has been improving, and I can finally afford to give you and Harold the care youneed.

But Mom won’t listen.

She’d rather keep you sick and suffering so she can continue broadcasting our misfortunes.

It’s not right, and it’s only making things worse.”

Christopher let out a melancholic sigh, “Wendy, you’re right.

We can’t keep living like this.”

Wendy fell silent for a moment, lost in thought.

Suddenly, she started the car, making a sharp right turn at the next intersection when she should havegone straight.

“Forget it,” she said.

“I’m taking you both to the hospital right now.

You need to recover from your injuries and then find a real job.”

Christopher nodded, his voice heavy with resignation, “To be honest, lying in bed for six months hasbeen driving me insane.

Once I’m healed, I’m going to find a job.”

He turned to Harold and said, “And you, it’s time to stop fooling around.

We’ll find jobs together, and neither of us will sit around at home, eating free food.”

Harold felt a pang of regret.

His dream of being a rich playboy was shattered, and he could only nod his head and choke out thewords, “I know, Dad.

I’ll work hard once I’m healed.”

Lady Wilson was a wise woman.

She knew that Hannah was unable to take care of herself and might have to rely on Wendy in thefuture.

Furthermore, she saw that her son and grandson had come to their senses, and so she quickly spokeup.

“Wendy,” she said, “Why don’t I go find a job at the supermarket? I don’t mind bagging groceries ordoing whatever it takes to help support the family.”

Wendy shook her head, her expression serious, “Grandma, you don’t need to work anymore.

You’re getting older, and I make enough money to take care of you.

Stay at home and take care of yourself.”

The Lady breathed a sigh of relief.

She was grateful for her granddaughter’s offer, after all, it was difficult to adapt to work at her age.

No one wanted to run around for a living in their golden years, and the Lady was no exception.

She was content knowing that her granddaughter would take care of her.

However, Wendy’s tone suddenly turned grave.

“But Grandma, I need to make something clear.

You can’t engage in any more family politics when you’re at home.

We need to stay united and support each other.

No more scheming or manipulating.”

The Lady was quick to defend herself, “Wendy, I don’t engage in any family politics…”

Wendy’s expression remained serious, “Grandma, please don’t deny it.

When Grandpa was alive, our family was united.

He treated my father and uncle fairly, and he never showed any favoritism toward me, my brother, ormy sister Claire…”

“But after he passed away, you took over the Wilson family and immediately began isolating my uncle’sfamily from mine.

Instead of having one big family, we became two, and the Wilson family’s business suffered.

The company went bankrupt, the house was lost, and now we have to rely on others just to make endsmeet.”

Wendy quickly added, “But it’s not all your fault.

My father, mother, brother, and I are all to blame.

I was young and foolish back then, and I targeted my sister Claire and her husband at every turn…”

“I made a lot of mistakes and took many wrong turns.

But I’ve learned from my mistakes and started a new life.

My career is now on the rise, and if our family can acknowledge the mistakes we made and makeamends, we can come out of this even stronger.”

The Lady Wilson looked embarrassed, but she also spoke with a hint of indignation, “I targeted youruncle’s family because Claire was rebellious.

I wanted her to divorce Charlie, but she wouldn’t listen…”

Wendy’s voice turned cold, “Thank goodness Claire didn’t listen to you.

If she had divorced Charlie and married Wendell, they would have nothing now.

The Jones family went bankrupt a long time ago, and you don’t even know it.

But now, look how happy Claire is.

They live in a beautiful villa, and Charlie is a respected figure in the city.

With him by her side, no one would dare to bully Claire’s family.”

Wendy’s eyes filled with tears as she continued, “I used to listen to you and follow your lead.

But look at all the wrong turns I took because of you…”

“You led me to ruin my reputation by chasing after this man and that man.

And when Mom escaped from the black coal mine, you were the one who isolated and insulted her.

It’s because of you that our family has ended up like this.

It’s clear that you’re not fit to lead the Wilson family.”

Lady Wilson’s face turned red with embarrassment, and she wished she could disappear into theground.

Wendy wiped away her tears and spoke with determination, “From now on, I will have the final say inall matters concerning the Wilson family.

I hope you give up these petty thoughts and stop causing trouble.

As long as you can live a peaceful and respectable life, I will provide for you.

But if you continue to cause problems, then I’m sorry, even if you take me to court, I won’t support youanymore.”
