Chapter 5149

Upon seeing Lucas’ return, Isaac quickly sought a way to stall him, allowing Charlie and Mrs. Treadwaymore time to talk. But by the time he had thought of a plan, Charlie had already successfully convincedMrs. Treadway to move to Sterling.

So, he stepped out and called out to Lucas, “Mr. Cameron, come inside!”

“Let’s go in!” Isaac added to Lucas.

As the two entered the yard, Lucas was overjoyed and shouted, “Mom, look at what I’ve hunted! Twofat and healthy pheasants!”

Mrs. Treadway emerged swiftly and spoke with a grin, “Lucas, you did a fantastic job hunting twopheasants so fast.”

She greeted him with a smile.

The yard was poorly lit as it was late, and Lucas did not notice any changes in his mother.

However, when he entered the room, he was shocked to see that his mother had suddenly becomemuch younger!

He exclaimed with horror, “Mom… You… You’ve become so youthful! Half of your hair is even black! This… This is too incredible…”

Mrs. Treadway whispered, “Lucas, keep quiet.

Our guest brought some medicines that improved my health.

They turned my hair dark again.

Promise me you won’t tell anyone.”

Lucas readily agreed, “I… Don’t worry, Mom… I won’t say a word to anyone.”

Mrs. Treadway gave a quick nod and said, “Lucas, start packing your things.

You’re leaving with me.”

“Right now?” Lucas asked, surprised.

“Mother, why don’t we leave after having dinner?”

Mrs. Treadway replied, “There’s no time to eat.

Leave them in the yard…”

Lucas quickly responded, “These two pheasants are ready.

If we leave them in the yard, they’ll be taken by weasels or other wild animals tonight.

That would be a waste.”

The Lady spoke firmly, “Let it be, just take it with you.

We have to be on our way, so don’t dally.”

Charlie added, “Time is ticking, it’s already late.

Going down the mountain will take over an hour.

By the time we reach Shudu, it’ll be midnight.

If we stop to slaughter the chickens and cook them, we’ll only arrive at daybreak.”

The Lady instructed her son without delay, “Lucas, get ready quickly.novelbin

We must leave now.”

Seeing the Lady’s unwavering stance, the son ceased arguing and promptly replied, “I’ll go pack then.”

She further instructed, “Bring only the essentials, leave the rest behind.”

In the span of ten minutes, the Lady put out the fire in the stove with a scoop of well water and exitedthe house with Charlie, Isaac, and her son Lucas by her side.

The Lady cast a sorrowful gaze at the worn-out door of her home.

She knew that she would never return once they left.

However, her son was unaware that this farewell from their family home was permanent. In response toher direction, he silently locked the door with care.

The Lady believed that if they wanted to leave, they shouldn’t draw attention to themselves, as to avoidany questioning or suspicion.

This way, they could vanish from the world with minimal fuss, which was the ideal outcome.

Thankfully, at that moment, the village was completely dark and the only dozen or so households weredining.

The four of them managed to leave the village without encountering anyone else.

After walking on the mountain road for over an hour, they arrived at the village where the off-roadvehicle was parked.

Isaac got into the driver’s seat and drove towards Sterling in the north. Once they reached the highway, the rough terrain of the mountain road no longer posed an issue for their progress.

The off-road vehicle made its way to a villa area located just outside the second ring road in thesouthwest of Sterling, arriving around midnight.

This villa area boasted convenient access, being close to the city and with a subway station at itsentrance.

It consisted of three-story villas, mostly over 200 square meters, with small courtyards of around 40square meters.

The members of the Sterling branch of the Wade family were already on the lookout for potentialhomes earlier in the day.

The business manager went through multiple intermediaries and found a list of over a dozen homes forsale in the community.

The majority of the homes were relatively new, as the community had only been built for three to fouryears.

After reviewing the listings, the manager found that one of the villas was the most fitting.

The previous owner had only lived there for less than two years and the decoration was still fresh andcomplete with all appliances and furniture.

Due to business needs and a lack of funds, the owner was selling the home in a hurry.

The former owner of the villa had also acquired a shop of nearly 100 square meters that was located atthe front of the house. However, the tenants left after their rental contract expired last month becausethe owner needed to raise funds quickly.

As a result, the store was left empty and the owner was eager to sell it promptly.

The shop was conveniently located on a busy route from the community to the subway, making it anideal spot for opening a small supermarket or convenience store.

Isaac’s subordinates, under the name of the Sterling Capital branch, bought the house and the shop atthe front with full payment, as the decoration was high, new people could move in easily, and the shopwas available for sale.

The former owner was pleasantly surprised by the straightforward customer and received full paymentwithout waiting for a bank loan.

The eagerness to sell made the homeowner offer many concessions, but the overall price was still veryhigh.
