Chapter 332 Stefan'S Secrets
Mrs. Beckham frowned.
Hayden found that a beauty like her was still elegant when she frowned although she was not young
now.
The beauty raised her head slowly, “If I knew his plan, I would not let him do it.”
Hayden was stupefied, “So he kept it back from you?”
“Not exactly,” she sighed and explained,
“I realized something under way when he applied for the University of Public and Security in Nanking,
who might remember the Beckham’s firmly. But in the past years, he has never done anything wrong
so I haven’t asked him about why he preferred the university. But some days ago, he told me that he
met Joseph.”
“Oh I got it.” Hayden was relieved.
As long as Stefan was not asked by her to befriend Joseph, it’s not likely for them to do harm to
Joseph. Actually, she treated Mrs. Beckham as a nice woman.
Maybe the relationship between the mother and the son would be mended.
“Stefan is a good boy,” Mrs. Beckham explained to Hayden to reassure her, “To be honest, I hid the
secret from him that he had a brother. But he is always so sensitive and smart that he later knew it and
asked me why I left his brother and grandfather. I didn’t know that he read my diary and the old photos
until we came to live in Lanxi.”
Although she never told him what happened in the past, and the reason why she left the family
pregnant, he kept searching for materials for the truth.
“I have no idea what he has known but the only thing I am sure is that he won’t hurt Joseph.”
Her promise touched Hayden who could not help trusting her.
“So are you going to meet Joseph?”
Hearing this, Mrs. Beckham paused and her fingers holding the cup began curling. She answered,
“No.”
Hayden was silent for a while and said, “May I ask you a question?”
“Yes, please.”
“Is Stefan’s father not Joseph’s?”
All the conflicts came from the fact that Joseph’s father died in an accident but his mother was
pregnant. If the baby’s father was his father, then Mrs. Beckham would not be abandoned.
But the woman in front of Hayden was not like those who betrayed their husband. Besides, she
seemed to be single with a child.
So, Hayden thought that there might be a misunderstanding between her and the family.
After a few seconds, however, the woman nodded, which disappointed Hayden completely.
“Ok. Sorry to ask that question.”
“It’s fine.” Mrs. Beckham smiled, “It all passed. I won’t trouble Joseph since he has lived well these
years without me. Stefan is ready to go abroad in the next year. Before that, I will give him an
explanation and ask him not to come so close to his brother.”
Hayden was speechless at her words.
When they left the coffee shop, Hayden sent her back to the hospital as polite as possible.
And they met Stefan who was looking around.
Noticing that Hayden walked towards him with his mother, he was embarrassed, “Hayden…”
Mr. Beckham gave him a blank face.
“I think you two need some talks. I go to look after Stella first.”
It’s cold outside the hospital where there were mixtures of snow and mud.
Standing silent in the wind, Hayden was less patient, “What do you want to tell me? Be quick.”
“Ok.” Stefan pulled her sleeve and said with hesitation.
“Have you known my secret?”
“Which one do you refer to? You mean your mother is the boss of the Maple Sugar Inn, or you are
Joseph’s half brother?”
Hayden was indeed angry now.
These days she treated him as her own brother and even gave him a key of her house. But he kept so
many things back from her until she discovered all the secrets by herself. If she didn’t know about what
he had done this time, he must continue to conceal the secrets.
“Sorry, I am wrong.”
He frowned with a nearly twisted face, “It’s not my purpose to keep them back.”
“Really. I need you explanation.”
Hayden sniffed, “I will give five minutes for I have to pick up my daughter later.”
He was quite nervous and said slowly, “If I am a bad guy, I will tell Joseph about the fact that Noah is
your son in an earlier time.”
Hearing this, Hayden changed her countenance to surprise.
“How did you know that?”
“It’s a long story.” Stefan was still anxious, “I came up with many ideas to get close to the Beckham’s.
You know, I major in investigation which helps me do some researches. To be honest, the celebrity,
Viola asked me to survey you.”
“Viola?” Hayden pondered.
By linking her to what happened to Pola, she understood the whole truth.
“What did she have you do? Are you the one who made Pola suffer?”novelbin
Hayden questioned him indifferently.
“No!” He answered quickly.
“I was not involved! After I finished the investigation, she killed people to hide the relationship between
you and Joseph. I was influenced by her, too. I hate her for this so I won’t assist her to set up Pola.
Besides, I was preparing for the drill in the school at that time. I had no time for this. You must trust
me.”
Stefan now was as nervous as a child who had done something wrong.
They were all silent for a while.
There’s heavy traffic on the street now and the city, Nanking, looked prosperous, lit by the neon lights.
However, nobody talked at the gate of the hospital.
Then Hayden clenched her fist,
“I can trust you but at first, you should tell me what you have done in the past two years to get close to
Joseph. Otherwise, I cannot believe that you befriended us without any purpose. If you tell me the
whole thing, I will consider whether to help you hide your identity from Joseph temporarily.”
In Stefan’s mind, he would get into trouble if Joseph knew that he was his half brother.
Besides, Joseph was skeptical and unsatisfied with his mother, so he would definitely think ill of Stefan
after the secrets were exposed to him.
