Chapter 302 A Snowball Fight

The lamp on the corridor was on and off again and again.

Joseph rushed to come home, but he kept entering the wrong passcode. The door was warning them

the password was wrong.

Eventually, they got in the door. It was dark inside.

The house was empty. Noah and Stella lived in the Beckhams' Mansion recently and GTE lived in

school because of the final exams and the maneuver.

The moon's pale light cast soft shadows on the wall.

Hayden didn’t say which Léon she liked in the end. But Joseph did not bother asking her knowing that

she did not like that puppet boy, in case she kept laughing at him.

The house began to warm up. Hayden felt tired after the sex, lying on the couch next to Joseph.

“Is it Anna that tells you about the puppet boys and wolf boys?”

Hayden nodded casually.

“The young men are called the puppet boys and wolf boys. How do you call an elder man?” Joseph

asked.

Hayden thought for a second and stared at him, “Are you sure you want to know?”

He thought for a while and nodded, although he knew there couldn’t be a nice word.

Hayden went blank for a while and became less sleepy. She stared at Joseph, “Anna said, both the

puppet boys and wolf boys refer to the young men. But the elder men who have bad temper and never

compliment women are usually unkind, so there’s another word for them.”

Joseph disagreed with a frown, “A man who does not like to compliment is unkind?”

“Yeah, you never compliment me.”

Hayden looked at him awhile. She didn’t think he was the kind of man who was used to flatter, so she

found an excuse for him, “Actually, a glib talker is not always popular.”

But Joseph was interested of what she said.

“What did Anna say?”

Hayden found that he was intensely curious about this, so she answered, “Old bastard.”

Her voice resounded through the large, empty house for a moment.

Joseph was upset, “I think you should find someone else to replace Anna.”

Hayden smirked, “But you said I should raise her salary a few days ago. You are the treasurer and

you’ve approved that.”

“…”

Joseph could not argue that. Hayden thought Anna deserved a higher salary because of the unusual

look on his face.

Hayden found it necessary to learn about some buzzword on the internet.

Hayden came to the Beckhams' Mansion to spend a weekend with her two children. Joseph wanted to

fetch Stella and Noah back home. But Hayden did not consent given that she was busy at work and

Harrison might feel lonely living alone.

Mark with another two servants were waiting for them at the gate.

“Good morning, Master Beckham Ms. Downey.”

“Where’s Harrison?” Joseph got off the car, holding Hayden’s hand.

“Little Noah wanted to make a snowman the other day, so Old Master Beckham bought a snow gun

and placed it on the back hill. The temperature dropped low last night. Beckham is building a snowman

with Stella and Noah.”

“Why do they want to make a snowman suddenly?” Joseph said with a puzzled frown.

Hayden pondered over for a while, “Maybe it’s Stella’s idea. She will badger me to take her to play

snow in the winter. We will go to ski at this time of year. Well, according to the weather forecast, there

will be showery snows in the coming days.”

It always began to snow in Nanking at the beginning of December. It was mid-December, but it didn’t

snow.

They weren’t at home, so Hayden and Joseph went to the back hill.

The snow gun stopped working. And the hill was quite appealing because the artificial snow spread

over a vast expense, creating a white, silvery world.

There were two kids running in the snow. They dressed in yellow and red like colorful balls. Stella and

Noah kept pelting the one hiding behind the tree with snowballs. Hayden recognized it was Eleanor

when she let out a scream.

Hayden also descried a man in black crouching on the ground. It was Harrison. He was still hale and

hearty in his old age. Although he was standing far away from the kids, there were stacks of snowballs

next to him.

The novelty of the situation intrigued her. She gripped Joseph’s arm and signaled him to have a look.

Joseph looked at Harrison, and he was surprised that there were snowballs standing near Harrison.

In Joseph’s mind, Harrison was quite rigorous, and he would not play with his grandchildren. It seemed

that he would never roll a snowball.

“Believe it or not, I would make Harrison join us and play around.”

“No way,” Joseph did not believe, “He doesn’t like these.”

“What if I can?”

“I will do the dishes for a month.”

“Okay, it’s a deal.” She said and walked a few steps toward Harrison, but she turned around suddenly, novelbin

“Nah, you’re always the one who’s doing the dishes.”

Smiling, Joseph did not reply. He looked into her eyes calmly with folded arms, waiting for her to be

refused.

Hayden did not care about the stakes. She jutted her chin toward him and ran to Harrison.

“Hi.”

Her sudden appearance frightened Harrison. He stood up with embarrassment, trying to hide the

snowballs behind him, “Hello, Hayden.”

“Wait! Do not stamp on the snowballs. They are perfect for pelting others.” She bent down herself and

held a snowball to have a close look.

Chatting with Harrison, she pelted Stella with a snowball.

“Ouch! Who did that?” Stella’s lovely voice came from the snowfield. Hit by the snowball, she tumbled

and then sat on the ground. She turned around and found only Harrison was standing there.

“Harrison, you said you wouldn’t join us!”

Harrison was bemused, “No, not me.”

Hayden was hiding behind Harrison. She had a slim figure, so she was easily covered by Harrison who

was wearing a black down coat.

When Stella was distracted, Hayden pelted her with another snowball which hit her on the head this

time.

“Noah, Harrison threw snowballs on me!” Stella was incensed. She whispered something to Noah, and

they began to threw back to Harrison.

Seeing that, Eleanor stopped hiding and joined the snowball fight.

“Harrison, let me help you.”

Harrison could not dodge the snowballs, so he was soon covered by the snow all over his body.

Hayden gave him a snowball and said to him, “Harrison, hit them!”

Flashing across the sky, the snowball looked as big as human’s fist. After Harrison threw a snowball,

the fight became more intense. There were screaming now and then, sounding quite clamorous.
