Chapter 206 Might Makes Right

Dante still had some things to deal with in Sea View Town, and he promised Hayden Downey to go

Nanking within a week. Hayden and Joseph Beckham then left.

“You said before that five years ago in the ST Group, there was still someone else in the driving seat of

the company? Is it true?”

Hayden asked in the car.

Joseph had his hands on the steering wheel, looking at the front concentrated. He wasn’t distracted

hearing her words and answered casually, “Franklin is just a year younger than me. Back then, he

started working in the group after only finishing his undergraduate degree here in the country. Before I

returned to the country, he was already the group’s vice president on the premise of giving up his

opportunity to study for a master’s degree at Yale. That time, Harrison thought highly of him.”

Speaking of Franklin Hawkins, Hayden had a deep impression on him. She met him in the mansion

that day. He was in his thirties and seemed similar to Joseph. He was being feminine and always

smiling when looking at others. He appeared to be kind, but it was hard to understand him.

“But your return has threatened Franklin.”

Hayden looked squarely at Joseph.

“Yes.” Joseph nodded in a poker face, “Initially, I came back only as a shareholder of the company to

participate in the Board Resolution. Later, I had some questions about the company’s finances, and

Harrison arranged me to participate in management of the company after having someone to check it

out. At that time, my power wasn’t as great as Franklin’s.”

Whether Joseph was involved in the management or not, he was the most significant threat as long as

he returned. After all, the entire group belonged to Harrison Beckham, and he had the most major

shareholding, having absolute control over the company. Joseph was Harrison’s only grandson, and

the group would be handed over to him sooner or later if there wasn’t any unforeseen event.

“Had he done something?” Hayden continued.

Joseph sneered, “You’re right. He had done something. If it weren’t for this, he could still be a good

manager in the company. After all, he’s one of the Beckham family and the market share of the group

under his management for that period was quite good. Just that he was being too suspicious.”

After Joseph entered the company, Franklin did a lot of things to let Harrison distrust Joseph. He even

spread the rumours about Joseph’s sexual orientation back then.

Just because of this ridiculous rumour, Harrison then forced Joseph to get married under the group’s

right of inheritance.

Hayden heaved a sigh of relief, hearing it.

“Then, could the matter of Noah not being able to speak related to him?”

The fact was, Franklin was fear of Joseph so much, and Franklin’s position would be shifted backward

again if there was another heir in line. Therefore, Noah Beckham’s existence was unfavourable to him.

Joseph frowned as Hayden asked this suddenly, “Are you really investigating Noah’s matter?”

“Do you think I’m just joking?” Hayden was unhappy, knitting her brows.

“I didn’t mean that. I won’t stop you if you want to investigate it. If you need any help, let me know. You

don’t have to solve it alone.”

“I know.” Hayden then calmed down, “According to this, your cousin seemed to have the motive to

commit such a crime. Then I’ll investigate it from this point. Just that, you have to be careful of him too.

That day I saw him in the mansion, the incident back then seemed to still rankled in his mind.”

Hayden observed Joseph’s facial expression, not wanting to miss any changes on him when saying

this.

Joseph frowned as if something bore in mind. He seemed to reproach himself, but he let go of it very

soon.

“Don’t worry about it. Might makes right.”

There were many interpretations of this phrase. Obviously, if you won, every nasty means of yours to

obtain such a victory were nothing at all.

Hayden felt a chill suddenly and couldn’t help but think of the possibility that Benjamin told her

previously. It was related to Noah having a high fever back then.

“He is a deep one, right? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have tussled with you for so many years.” Hayden

asked tentatively.

“Yes. But he shouldn’t have such devious ideas.”

Joseph was aloof, “Business competition should only just do by commercial means. But Harrison

concerns about family harmony the most. He shouldn’t have interfered the family members.”

“What did he do?”novelbin

Joseph was speechless.

He remained silent for a while, “Harrison had covered up this incident back then, and I shouldn’t talk

much about it.”

Hayden squeezed her hand and forced a smile, “It’s understandable.”

She had always thought that Franklin was just a good-for-nothing. But then, when things came to this

point, she had to suspect that Franklin had already known that Joseph was coming back at the

mansion that day.

He deliberately provoked Joseph, which led to her leaving the ST Group and having a falling-out with

Joseph. The group was then having public relations chaos regarding the fire incident and fluctuation in

the stock prices.

This series of incidents all happened from the incident in the backyard of the Beckham house.

It was such a fridge horror.

But even if such a deep person was defeated by Joseph too, and it was a fiasco. Three years ago,

when he was being removed from the position of vice president in the ST Group, he was never

involved in any business in the ST Group again.

Franklin’s shrewdness was noticeable, but not Joseph’s.

So Noah’s fever incident back then was it just a lure of business struggle? It was very doubtful.

When the sun almost set, Joseph’s car got off the highway. There was a text message notifying that

they had entered the Nanking district, and a soft female voice sounded from the navigation system,

planning their route.

“Where are we going to?”

Hayden looked at the road conditions, feeling doubt.

“I’m driving you to the hospital first.”

Joseph responded casually at the side.

Hayden then came back to her senses, “Yeah, we should visit Alayna first.”

In the car, Joseph sneered, “Hayden, do you think that I’m omnipotent while you’re invulnerable?”

“Huh?” What kind of stupid question is this?

“How do I know which hospital Alayna is in?” Joseph glared at her, “You need to change the dressing

for the wound on your leg. Don’t you remember it?”

Hayden froze, only then remembered that she had the scalding on her leg. The doctor explained that

the dressing should be changed in the next two days to prevent getting inflamed and infected as the

weather got hot.

“Next time, please take care of yourself first before caring about others.”

Joseph sighed helplessly, “How can I feel at ease if you being like this?”

Hayden felt heart-warming, and she smiled, saying, “It’s easy. Aren’t you going to apologize to me?

Don’t you just pay lip service to apologize to me. Are you capable of not working during this period and

being my side all the time?”

“You think I can’t?”

“You…”

Hayden was speechless.
