Chapter 81

Chapter 81

Keren, who was at work, was taken aback by Donery’s raspy voice when she called.

“What happened to you? Didn’t my brother say your mam didn’t find out?”

“It’s not about my mom.” Dorothy hesitated for a while on the other side of the phone, before finallyspeaking with difficulty. “Can L.can stay at your place for a few days? I find a place as soon as I can. It’ll be for a week at most!”novelbin

Karen was taken aback. “You’re not renting your place anymore?”

Dorothy hesitated a bit before saying, “Yeah, you could say that.”

“Then just move in with me! Why bother staying temporarily?” she sighed, “I suggested this before, butyou were adamant about not agreeing! How great would it be if we lived together? You could help mecook and clean and keep me company! That’s settled then. Move in tonight”

“Okay, we’ll talk more when you get off work.”

After hanging up, Karen sat at her desk, her eyes spinning, before quickly calling Kenneth.

“Just a heads up that Dorothy is moving into my place today. We might need a strong guy to help moveher stuff!

Kenneth chuckled on the other end. “You sly fox, new you’re talking in circles.”

“Tak! What do I have to talk in circles for? I’m not the one pursuing her

“All right!” he laughed, “Ill come after work. Thanks for setting this up, okay?”

“That’s more like d!” Karen snorted, “Don’t underestimate Dorothy because she’s strugging now. Giventime, she’s bound to make big strides in her career. By then, you’ll have a bear ful and talented wife, and you’ll be aughing up your sleeve!”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

“That’s settled then! See you tonight.”

Putting down the phone. Karen let out a long sigh

Then all she had to do was wait for the day her best friend became her sister in law! If that could reallyhappen, she and Dorothy would have truly become family!

Dorothy packed up all her belongings, even cleaning the master bedroom one more time before pickingup the strawberries in the living room one by one and putting them in the fridge.

Although they weren’t hers, it would have been a shame if they went bad.

Standing in front of the fridge, she looked at the abundance of red strawberries and, on a whim, tastedone of the strawberries.

It was really sweel

Dorothy suddenly understood what Everett meant by his obsession with cleanliness! it meant that evenas a substitute, she had to be pure in both body and mind.

So, when he found out she brought another man to her mother’s hospital mom, he was so angry thathe rushed to the hospital, even missing his date with Heather.

So, that time, it was really over between her and Everett, right?

According to the contract if he proposed to terminate it first, he wouldn’t pursue the medical expensesfor her mother.

Dorothy thought that once she cared enough, she would have definitely repaid him to buy back herdignity.

At six in the eyning, she took a taxi to Karen’s place with her luggage.

That little mine, Karen, came bouncing down the stairs to greet her, followed by Kernell.

“You’ve finally agreed to stay at my place! My dear Dorothy, do you know how happy I am?”

I’m just staying temporarily. Once I find a suitable place, III move out* Dorothy still insisted on not owinganyone any favors.

She was afraid out if she stayed for too long and accepted too much of Karen’s kindness, she wouldn’tbe able to return the favor!
