Chapter 280

Chapter 280

Dorothy felt like her heart was being squeezed tight as her mind entered a blank slate.

Everett didn’t marry Heather?

“So how could you just remarry someone else? Dorally, you have such a cold heart, elfroy clicked histongue a few times and adopted a sardonic tone. “You played with Everett’s heart like it was a toy andnow you can easily bewlich Lane. I have to say you’re quite talented.” “Are you done yet? Darthyinterrupted him coldly

She didn’t want to hear Everett’s name anymore. I made her heart flutter every time it was mentioned.“I don’t know why you brought all this up today, but let me make it clear i will not have any relationshipwith Everett ever again! You know as well as I do that if I wanted to contact Everett, I have many waysto do so, none of which you or anyone else could stop. Rest assured. I truly do not want to haveanything to do with him anymore. As for the Lopez family and Heather, as long as they are upright, theyhave nothing to fear. They don’t need to worry about me, a nobody. So, you don’t have to waste yourtime talking to me. Your sarcasm doesn’t affect me.”

“You…” Truth be told Jeffrey didn’t know what he was trying to accomplish.

On one hand, he was relieved that his good buddy had escaped his suffering by breaking up with thisheartless woman. On the other hand, he felt sorry for Evereti.

Seeing Dorothy able to start her e anew, pick up her career again, and even marry another man madehim angry

Angry at his foolish friend, who still hadn’t gotten over Dorallynovelbin

Despite Everett’s constant denial, Jeffrey knew better.

“My husband and I are very happy now. You can ask Lane about our relationship.” Dorothy thought thatJeffrey was here to confirm that she would not go after Everett again, so she decided to give him adefinite answer. “Even if Everett stood before me now, I would still choose my husband withouthesitation.”

With that, Dorothy turned on her heels and walked away.

She couldn’t keep her promise to pretend like everything was fine and have dinner with Lane. Shewould have to apologize to him later.

Behind her, Jeffrey silently took out his phone.

The call duration read: 10.29.

“Did you hear all that?”

“Yeah”

Yes, after Everett hung up, Jeffrey had dialed him again without taking the phone out of his pocket orletting Dorothy see.

Everett didn’t hang up. He simply listened quietly to Dorothy and Jeffery’s conversation.

He heard her refer to some other man as “my husband.”

At that moment, Jeffrey regretted his impulsive decision to make Everett hear all that, knowing thatevery word Dorothy said was like a knife stabbing into Everett’s heart.

“Everett, I..”

“It’s okay. She being happy is all that matters.” Everett’s voice didn’t betray any emotion, but Jeffreyknew he was suppressing his feelings.

For years, a smile had been absent from Everett’s face. And Dorothy was to blame.

“She’s already marned, the whole company knows it. Everett, she’s so damn cold? She’s just plaincruel! You should get married too! Marry Heather Why upset your parents over her?”

“Jeffrey, who I love is my business”

Whether she loved him back or not was her choice.

Everett had never wanted to impose his feelings on Dorothy. Neither in the past nor in the present.
