Chapter 922

Chapter 922

The doctor had mistook Jerick as the father of the baby in Lillian’s belly.

Before Jerick could explain himself, Lillian had begun speaking to the doctor, “He’s not the father of mychild, so I can make the decision myself. Doctor, please arrange an abortion procedure for me!”

Upon hearing this and seeing Lillian’s determination, the doctor responded, “Well then, I…”

Suddenly, a voice interrupted the doctor’s words and echoed in the ward. “I am the child’s father, sowhat if I don’t agree to the procedure?”

A tall figure emerged in the ward as the voice trailed off.

Lillian gazed at Callum, who was dressed in a simple white shirt and black pants, in astonishment ashe approached her hospital bed. His hair looked slightly disheveled, and his shirt collar was leftunattended, indicating that he had arrived in a hurry.

up that

Simultaneously, Callum looked at the person on the hospital bed fixedly. When he woke morning, hisfirst thought was to reach out to her and convey that they could finally be united. He was eager todivulge everything that had happened in the past with her.

However, to his surprise, the one who answered the phone was Jerick. Upon learning about herhospitalization due to a car accident, Callum hastily rushed over, only to hear her request for anabortion procedure.

“Why are you giving up on our child? If this child poses a threat to your well-being and worsens yourinjuries, I wouldn’t hesitate to agree to the abortion,” uttered Callum, carefully articulating each word

with a hint of confusion in his eyes. “But at this moment, there’s no reason to let go of this child, isthere? All we need to do is transfer to a more advanced hospital in the city, and with expert care, thischild still has a chance at survival, right?”

Lillian bit her lips tightly and said nothing.

“I’ll immediately make the arrangements for your transfer to another hospital!” Upon seeing herresponse, Callum immediately took out his phone and was about to make the call when Lillian suddenlyshouted, “There’s no need for that. I have the right to decide this child’s fate!”

Her words caused Callum’s body to stiffen. He then turned around and stared at her, saying, “You’rehell-bent on giving up on our child?”

The shock in his eyes was apparent as if he couldn’t fathom the decision Lillian had just made.

She met Callum’s eyes, and his gaze was like intangible needles, causing sharp pangs in her chest.

Despite her unbearably dry throat, Lillian still gritted her teeth and forced out a resolute word. “Yes!”“Why?” questioned Callum. He was at a loss as she had seemingly wanted to keep the child earlier.Otherwise, why would she have taken the folic acid he purchased for her and scheduled prenatalcheck-ups in advance?

Lillian’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and a deep bitterness overwhelmed her. “Why? How could he beasking me for a reason?” she pondered. “Does he not understand the emotions I had to endure whilespending the entire night waiting outside his mansion? Does he not comprehend the feeling of beingbetrayed for a second time?”

Finally, she uttered, “Because I wish to sever all connections with you.”

In that fleeting moment, it felt as if the air in the ward had solidified as Callum emanated an oppressivepresence, creating a stifling atmosphere for those in the room.

“Well… Why don’t you discuss it among yourselves and contact the nurses at the nurses’ station whenyou’ve decided whether you wish to transfer to another hospital or remain here,” said the doctor, feelingsomewhat uneasy, before leaving the room.

Jerick, on the other hand, glanced at the dynamics between Lillian and Callum. He was uncertain aboutwhether to leave or remain in the room.

Before he could decide, Callum spoke up coldly. “Mr. Backman, I need to speak with Lillian in private. Please leave.”

“But…”

Before he could finish, Lillian also spoke up. “Jerick, why don’t you give us some space? There aresome things I’d like to discuss with him.”

Upon hearing this, Jerick finally made up his mind to leave. However, he couldn’t help but cautionCallum before he left the room. “Mr. White, Lillian’s still suffering from her injuries. Please have a calm

discussion and not resort to physical actions.”

Callum disregarded Jerick’s advice and kept his gaze fixed on Lillian.

In the end, Jerick let out a sigh and left the ward.

Soon, Lillian and Callum were the only ones left in the ward.

“Are you in such a hurry to sever all ties and get rid of our child?” A cold voice suddenly filled the room.Taking a deep breath, she replied, “Yes.”

“Is this all because of how I left you while you were seriously injured in the past, that you’re not evenwilling to grant me a single chance?” questioned Callum.

Lillian quickly replied, “Since we’ve parted ways in the past, there’s no reason for us to rekindle ourrelationship now. Besides, this child would only be a source of trouble for us.”

Her words caused a trace of pain to flicker in Callum’s eyes as he thought, “Does she understand allmy hopes and expectations? Does she know how ecstatic I was when I learned of her pregnancy? I feltthat this child was a blessing from above, a sign that the heavens hadn’t severed my hopes and hadcreated a connection between us! But now, she’s telling me that our child, whom I’ve thought of as ablessing, is actually a burden and source of trouble! How pathetic and ridiculous is that?”

and I’m

Unwilling to give up, Callum continued questioning, “But you clearly still have feelings for me, certainthat you still love me! Why won’t you be with me again? I can swear that from this day onwards, I’llspend the rest of my life protecting you, loving you, and standing by your side, no matter whathappens!”

Lillian suddenly erupted in laughter. “You’ll protect me, love me, and never leave my side?” Each timeshe smiled, the bruises from the car accident that morning seemed to throb with pain. Simultaneously, vivid images of that morning rushed through her mind-the way Madeline had left the mansion anddriven away, along with their brief, significant eye contact…novelbin

She could never forget the night she had spent waiting for him!

“Callum White, your words are the most laughable thing I’ve ever heard! How dare you make such astatement? You’re the one who hurt me the most, and if this is your notion of loving me, then I’d preferyou had never loved me at all. From this moment on, I won’t retain even a shred of emotion for you!”retorted Lillian.

As if her words had triggered something in him, Callum suddenly bent down, catching her off guard, and began kissing her.

He acted as if he was seeking proof of her love.

Callum’s kiss was passionate and incredibly fervent.

When his warm lips touched hers, Lillian was lost in a daze for a brief moment. It felt as if she wasreliving a moment in the distant past when they were also sharing a kiss.

She remembered how deeply in love they used to be and how much she used to love his kisses.

Callum’s kisses were always tender and lingering, yet tinged with a sense of longing.

His kisses used to make Lillian feel as if she was an incredibly significant presence in his heart.
